    I was the best at the Tapper arcade game in my local area.
    It was at Lucky Luciano's Pizzeria in Crofton, Md.
    Once I got the high score, 800,000 something, it was never beaten.
    I think that game lasted between 1 and 2 hours and I cycled through the levels 4 or 5 times.
    I couldn't imagine playing this game for over 24 hours!!!
    I bow to the master!!!

    Back in the 80's I played this game for 11 hours. I had so many extra lives that they went around the screen. But the place who had the game closed (I was allowed to stay for an hour when they cleaned). But they wanted to go home so I had to let the game go. I think I could have continued forever. But after that time I never played it again.

    How sensational! Lauren congratulations on the incredible record! This game requires a lot of concentration and skill. I was amazed to see how she played and talked at the same time. Thanks for posting the video!

    I think that one scene with the broken windows is supposed to be a punk rock bar. This game came out in the early 80's when punk was really popular so I think they were paying homage to the scene plus it just looks really cool too.

      Yeah, it was called a "punk parlor".

    I love Tapper. I’m sure I encountered it at least once as a kid hitting the arcade circa 1983-85. But I played it more when I encountered it one one of those “Arcade Classics” compilations for the PlayStation.
    I’m loving the classics that I grew up on more and more. I see the games of today and they just seem to be about wandering around and downloading skins and what not. I’m starting to realize the old games, which were about points and reaching a higher level than you have before, and just the heart and the humor and the simplicity of the classic games, that’s the best IMO.

    Amazing! She makes it look easy and it definitely is not as I’ve got an arcade emulator and have been playing a lot lately. I use peripheral vision to count amount of beers thrown down each table so can keep eye on where to go next but somehow Lauren generally stays on the offensive and by 5th level I end up overwhelmed and can never catch up no matter how fast I move! Lol, maybe the difficulty is set higher on mine…

    I played Root Beer tapper days ago and I’m skilled at this and it’s like serving soda 🥤 and root beer to customers at a bar and that’s good times I have and I wish my grandmother 👵 was here too see this, she would’ve loved 🥰 this but she passed away years ago. 👍

    Rootbeer Tapper on IBM is what I remember growing up with. Not just because I enjoy Mug Rootbeer, but Binghamton \ Vestal New York is where IBM was based. I remember in High School later playing it on the school computer(s) along with Number Munchers or Oregon Trail.

    Oh, I agree with you on that one. You have to play this game with concentration. Knowing that it gets faster and harder in the later levels. Sometimes there was some crazy funny stuff going on. It's about when one of the bar patrons throws the bartender out.

    For a 1983 game it has such a good graphics

    • @peterp2153
      @peterp2153 4 года назад +1

      You’d be surprised how decent graphics could be then. It helped that the arcade machines were essentially dedicated computers, running a single program. Growing upon the Atari 5200 myself, I always assumed that was the peak of graphics. And while the 5200 was very good at emulating the arcade experience, it’s 8-bit cartridges couldn’t hold a candle to a dedicated arcade
      Machine.

    The local arcade near me has a tapper arcade but the joystick and tap handles aren’t very good. But it’s all I got so I have to figure out how to properly use it.

    • @shannonjenkins3610
      @shannonjenkins3610 8 месяцев назад

      Hi! Y'know, the handles can be adjusted mechanically. There are also sensitivity tests & controls in the software (on ctrl pnl screen) that can be adjusted.
      (I also love playing & have a Tapper arcade @home) 🕹❤️
      Die electric grease also goes a LONG way in helping out your joystick & tap pullers... and quiets it down (the noise in this video makes me 😢 for the poor Tapper controls in this video, lol).
      Hope this info helps you... or someone, lol! I LOVE seeing/reading/hearing about fellow Tapper players & fans & helping out if/when I can. 😊

    I've recently been playing the Atari 2600 version of Tapper. The graphics are not as good as the arcade version, but it's still a fun game. I want to get the Arcade cabinet in the future. This can be a fun game if you're drinking with friends.

    Now comes the million dollar question: will she try to make a run to get back the world record? William Rosa now has the Tapper World Record with a score of 14,826,200 per Twin Galaxies. She might have to be up longer than one day now.

    I would like a joystick like that to my computer. Suggestions? I played Tapper on IBM PC, 1984 1985 something. I like arcade graphics better. I don't know if I have seen the small aliens before, maybe once. This game will live forever. "obscure videogame" the nerve of some beings... There were not a billion games to choose from in the 1980:s. I don't know if I ever saw the original arcade Tapper. Thanks for the good video with controls and all!

  • @micke7
    @micke7 2 года назад

    When the speed goes up, is it proportional to the number of beers served? Because if it goes up after a certain time, you could get more points by keeping more customers in the bar.

      Cute but they can piss you off. Every level has their slow drinkers to mess up your rhythm and the baby aliens were the worst!

      Did you notice that it's very typical for an agnostic to believe in the existence of UFOs and extraterrestrials? Tony Lightner thinks I believed in the existence of UFOs and extraterrestrials back in March 1983. He also thought I'm someone who was extraterrestrial. It's hard to believe that E.T. was the number one movie in America back in mid-1982. The Time magazine newsreporters said this movie was Hollywood's hottest summer.
