Hey everyone! I didn't expect to not upload for so long, but the 2023 Rangers video I've been working on has basically turned into a deep dive into their team history (probably an hour+ long video). So yeah, that's what I've been working on this whole time, but I want it to be my best video to date and I'm hoping to upload it soon. After that, my next big video will be on the 2023/2024 Padres. Happy new year!
That sounds like an awesome video! Hate the Rangers, but I love deep dives. Take as long as you can to get the video to the place you can be as proud as you can of it.
big respect to you as a padres fan for making an even handed video about this that isn’t just a boring “the dodgers are ruining baseball by having like the 3rd or 4th highest payroll 😭😭” take
Padres fan here. Can’t hate the Dodgers for being winners, and having an excellently run organization top to bottom, From GM to scouting to player development, there legitimately is no team in professional sports like them in my opinion. We Padres have the spending and superstars, but lack roster depth, deep farm, and player development especially in hitting.
@@treysonmcgrady4750 that’s where the illusion of AJ Preller comes in everyone thinks he’s this ‘’amazing GM’’ who always goes for every possible star player there is but he never values players that are given up on or the players who don’t necessarily have that ‘’star’’ label on them but are solid baseball players who can be productive for the team and he doesn’t know how to develop prospects well that’s why we can’t ever get on the same level as the dodgers
Well said...Being a Dodgers fan, I was expecting this to be a hatefest when you mentioned being a Padres fan...but your professionalism shined through in this. Great video, kiddo... 😊
Actually didn’t age too well looking into the details: 1. Glasnow did pitch beyond 120 innings but failed to be available in post season. 2. Yamamoto actually did get hurt and missed a good part of the regular season. He was nowhere close to being as advertised but the long lay-off and rest paid off in post season. He wasn’t totally great but good enough. The Dodgers got over the top with some key trades at the deadline: 1. Flaherty 2. Edman 3. Kopech Key 1 year deals for both Teoscar and Kike Hernandez were big for the Dodgers winning it all and also can’t thank Walker Bueller enough who struggled during the regular season. His limited pitching though and even time off really worked wonders. The Dodgers won 2 less regular season games than the year before and were down 2-1 to the Padres. Ohtani definitely helped lead and bring the team back. Teoscar was great in NLDS but struggled in NLCS and did good enough in the WS. Edman and Muncy were key in the NLCS but Muncy totally collapsed in the WS. All played well enough at different times for the Dodgers to win. Dodgers can certainly repeat in 2025. So yeah this vid did age well to the avg fan but it isn’t always about big contracts. Dodgers have had big contracts in the past and they also let guys go and just last year many were regretting letting Corey Seager go. Not me. Look what happened to Texas this year.
Watching this days after the Dodgers won the World Series is a fun experience XD. Looking forward to watching this again in a couple years to see how well everything ages again.
I like how Andrew Friedman said he wants to look back on this as the Dodgers golden era. It is tough to recognize and appreciate how fleeting those years can be. I am reminded of the Laker Kobe years and what a run it was from 2000-2010.
One of the best, if not the best, explanation of what makes the Dodgers tick both philosophically and financially. Impressive. Deep pockets of the ownership is a huge baseline here but have to admire the agility and patience. Its like the baseball version of the art of war.
Thank you for your excellent and very detailed content. I've been a Dodgers fan since the 70s, with all the exciting highlights over all these past years, I looking forward for even more Hollywood highlights from this team.
When MCcourt owned the Dodgers, my family and I were done with them for a while. Then in 2012 everything changed and we started going to games often again and watching at home more often. I’m 30 and 2020 WS was the happiest I’ve been as a Dodger fan! I’m scared the new trades won’t be enough. But as long as it translates to October success, that’s what matters most. I do want them to hold the Commissioner Trophy in front of a full capacity crowd.
This is a super take. I'm a Dodger fan and yes I celebrated when McCourt sold the team. People act as if they throw money around every year...they don't. This off-season was very different for them. Friedman only signs long-term deals for difference makers. This video is the first one I saw that explains it and doesn't say "they do it all with money"... no they don't. Probably the most organized team in baseball from top to bottom. It doesn't always equal WS wins but Dodger fans can't complain at all. They are always in a position to do it. That's all you can ask. Finding value in released players has been one of their best weapons. Justin Turner, Brandon Marrow, Chris Taylor, Max Muncy, and the list goes on. Noah Syndergaard didn't work out but they knew when to move on.
I think the Dodgers could tie or beat my Mariners for 116 Wins this year or 2025 and beyond. I am excited for this team, and as a Mariners fan, I envy your ownership because they always spend. Wish you guys the best of luck!
I’m a mariners and dodgers fan, I get disappointed every offseason from both teams. Mariners don’t normally make the post season and the dodgers can’t seem to win the World Series but I love them both. Hopefully the mariners make the post season this next season.
Being a Dodgers fan you as a Padres fan could have lit us up and deservedly so for falling short when it matters but this was a very level headed and deep analysis that unveiled some things about the Dodgers that I was not even aware of completely. Great job man.
7:30 Taylor was picked up via trade (inserts Chris Taylor for Zach Lee meme). Also worth noting Puig was an international signing developed internally.
We need to talk more about the Dodgers player development staff from top to bottom, specifically pitching. Considering the volatility of pitcher health over a 162 game season - and 2023 showed how unfortunate that was with their rotation in the playoffs - we could see the Dodgers normalize the 6 man rotation moving forward. The team has a track record of signing pitchers that may not even contribute in their first season to, at worst, signal to free agent pitchers to get a taste of their pitching development staff without the pressure of rushing back to the majors; that's how they've gotten so many short term value pitchers. Shohei has proven his arm is incapable of sustaining a full season (the magical 2022 season being the lone exception), I don't think it's wise to change up Yoshi's routine of pitching every 6 days if their other starters are all injury prone. With their organizational depth I think a 6 man rotation is inevitable, especially if they can somehow get Sasaki early for 2025. It's hard to hate on the Dodgers because this dynasty was built on investing into player development; the free agency spending is for the casuals to hate on.
The 06-11 Dodgers were my childhood, grew up wearing a Kemp jersey. It’s absolutely heartbreaking to think about those years and what could’ve been. To be fair, it always seemed that the Phillies with Rollins, Howard, Hamels, Halladay? and Lee were always the better club in the NL in those days.
What a well-done informative look at how this current Dodgers regimen is run. It always starts at the top. Once the Guggenheim ownership took over and hired Friedman, the organization became not only the best in baseball but one of the best in all of sports.
The Dodgers should already be in the middle of a dynasty. Yet, they’re not. They’ve built a super team every year and they don’t have too much to show for it. But I cannot deny that they have once again built a super team that, on paper, can become a dynasty. And that lineup is going to be wicked to watch for years to come.
@@coachleif Oh, 100%. It’s honestly a wonder that the Dodgers haven’t won more. At the same time, back to back years with 100+ wins only to fall in the NLDS must sting.
@@TrentonBlessWrestlemania489 22 definitely but 23 I honestly would’ve been shocked if the Dodgers had made it out of the first round. In early to mid September the writing was on the wall in terms of our pitching: Buehler wasn’t gonna be rushed back, Urias turned back into a wife beater, May and Gonsolin were out with surgeries, Kershaw was pitching through shoulder issues, Lynn was inconsistent especially with homers, and Yarbrough was more of a long reliever than an actual starter. If we had made it far, it would’ve been off the backs of our rookie pitchers who lacked the postseason experience
Dodgers have had great chemistry since 2016. Haters aren’t educated enough to make opinions on them. Their only issue is getting it done on the field in October. Everything else has been done very well. Developing talent, creating good clubhouse culture, and spending a lot as they should for how much money they make

SD tried and went for it last year on the backend of a crazy playoff run and unfortunately they never clicked. their big 4 never clicked at the same time and SD’s lack of depth was exposed at the bottom of their lineup and backend of the rotation esp after darvish and musgrove went down. this year’s version of LA should be much more equipped to handle the grind of a regular season though … unsurprisingly since they have indeed won 10 of the last 11 division titles. however SD should still have a chance to make the playoffs as a wild card. they’ll be competing with SF, AZ, PHI among others for a wild card spot, compete in the WC round and then go from there.
Excellence in drafting, signing international prospects and developing of these prospects very much lessons the penalties of the luxury tax. That is an area where the Dodgers organization more than excells.

Baseball dynasty is kinda an overstatement cus it's the hardest to accomplish in all of sports. Yankees the last one to have successive wins to be considered such and that was more than a couple of decades ago. Simple errors, injuries or a single power hit on a grandslam and your done. Their program tho is very promising and you might be right. They been consistent and loaded more and now they're champs. They won't win every yr but they'll be seen as WS or bust
From what I’ve seen they found and are hoping to have fixed the true reason Glasnow kept getting hurt. It was the tendon was not in the right spot and would give out after 10-15 starts in a season
They were waiting for ohtani for 2 years while scouting yamamoto. After the glassnow trade they still scouting sasaki since walker buheler is a free agent after this season
Outstanding video. And I gather that you’re a Padres fan, so it must’ve been to some extent an exercise in self-inflicted torture, so it’s even more impressive. I particularly liked the way you kept narrative flow but simultaneously maintained visual interest via use of charts, quotes, and documents/headlines/tweets along with videos. It makes for a visually varied experience that pleases the eye. Just excellent overall.
Dodger's money could buy them a successful regular season, but not a world series title. Still, they are must see. Hoping to see them play a few times this summer.
An awesome video, can you make one on team chemistry, and what that may mean to each team. With only Joe Kelly and Max Muncey as Dodger players other teams may hate.
I agree that baseball is one of those sports where weird crap can derail the best team but I also look at those late 90s Yankees as the exception to that rule and how the best team not just can but DOES win championships.
It's crazy how in sports if you don't win the championship your team is considered trash by the fans, even though only one team can win it. If the Dodgers had a bad series and lost to the Yankees this year, the team would have been heavily rebuilt, even though this team is undoubtedly going to be a dynasty.

Ehhh you could throw the Giants in there. 10,12,14 and given it was a decade ago and I agree difficult but definitely possible 🤷🏽♂️
time will tell if they truly do, we gotta wait and see
Excellent video - I learned alot. Go Dodgers!
The final piece to the puzzle is to get Roki next off-season. If that happens they will have the best team in baseball history
Amazing video! As padre fans I’m sure it took extra work to do a deep dive in a rival club. 😂
what a great video. you really painted the whole picture for us, i know this must've taken forever
Great job on the video
From what I’ve seen they found and are hoping to have fixed the true reason Glasnow kept getting hurt. It was the tendon was not in the right spot and would give out after 10-15 starts in a season
Tell them to also go ahead and give them the lakers so they can bring balance there too please 🙏
Well 😅 they are off to a hot start 😂😂😂😂
One thing I've learned baseball on paper never plays out the same on the field
Great stuff. 👍
It refreshing to find Padres fans like yourself and many of your subscribers in this comment section. Also, we done video! New sub here.
Very impressive and objective video
entirely accurate. A dynansty in making.
Thank you!
Well when you spend a billion dollars in 1 off-season anything less is a failure
Dodger's money could buy them a successful regular season, but not a world series title. Still, they are must see. Hoping to see them play a few times this summer.
Well this comment has aged like milk DAMN! 😂😂
Anyway The Dodgers are the 2024 World Series Champions.💙💙
An awesome video, can you make one on team chemistry, and what that may mean to each team. With only Joe Kelly and Max Muncey as Dodger players other teams may hate.
5 players in baseball and the randomness of the playoffs makes this highly unlikely to be a dynasty. I’ll believe it when I see it.
Very well done video. Only thing I would have included was other players the Dodgers turned around. Justin Turner, Chris Taylor.
I agree that baseball is one of those sports where weird crap can derail the best team but I also look at those late 90s Yankees as the exception to that rule and how the best team not just can but DOES win championships.
Thanks Magic
Really nice video! This coming from a Giants fan!
The dynasty word is thrown around a lot.
It's crazy how in sports if you don't win the championship your team is considered trash by the fans, even though only one team can win it. If the Dodgers had a bad series and lost to the Yankees this year, the team would have been heavily rebuilt, even though this team is undoubtedly going to be a dynasty.
