The thing about the dodgers as villains is that their roster is comprised of guys that are insanely difficult to hate or root against. I mean, Kershaw is the most philanthropic person in baseball. Freddie Freeman is jsut a good dude with lots of personal tribulations that you can't help but feel inspired by. Betts is the epitome of playing the game right with the personality to boot. Edman is the same. Teo's infectious smile. And then there's the biggest superstar in the planet beloved by basically everyone outside the US and most inside of it. Everyone just wants to see him destroy every record imaginable. I wouldn't call them a team you love to hate. But rather a team that you hate to love because you wish you couldn't (unless you're a SF or SD native of course)
…you’re right and it’s kind of annoying. I don’t hate the Dodgers as much as I should. Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, etc. are hard to see as villains. Ah well, I’ll find a way
Something often said by players about the Dodgers is how they are, from top to bottom, the best organization in baseball. Travel, family support, food, trainers, coaches, mindset, front office, facilities, equipment, strategy, fan support. Players WANT to play there.
@@madxD144 You have to spend some to make some, considering that Dodgers have already made the money back from Ohtani's contract so they are playing with a high roller game.
@@adamkoslin9302 Steve Cohen is aiming to replicate the Dodgers’ methods, but turning the Wilpon owned Mets into an organization like that is a huge undertaking. It looks like the front office is stable now so we’ll see how the master plan proceeds over the coming years.
That's how GSW started they are loved by many they have extreme chemistry then they started winning and winning then suddenly kd came, it's not jsut the fans that think of them as villains it's almost all the players in the other side taking the beating from GSW at that time. They hated them they wanted them to go down. They defeated many teams in the west that should have won at least one championship if not for them. The fans will love the dodgers but the competition will hate them, that's great tho it means things will start to get more and more competitive as they try to dethrone the dodgers, over all viewership will also rise and rivalries will also intensify. This will be great for baseball, but this is still far into the future.
Even as a Giants fan I gotta say these guys did not coast. The Dodgers had such a wrecked pitching staff all season and were on the brink vs the Padres, guys stepped their asses up. Also Ohtani's salary hit on payroll is still big, its not the mere 2 million he's making.
Speaking of Dodgers being on the brink versus the Padres, Ohtani is the one who heroically saved them from getting swept with his monumental 3-run homer. Without him, the team would have undoubtedly embraced their usual routine of surrendering, a strategy they've honed with artistic precision over the last couple of years. Meanwhile, there is this causal who gets his baseball expertise from highlight reels, claiming Ohtani didn’t have good NLDS. Ohtani is practically the one-man army that stopped the Dodgers from their habitual first-round meltdowns for the third year running. Perhaps this RUclipsr should stick to streaming and leave the intricate art of baseball commentary to the real aficionados.
Much respect I'm not taking any championships for granted anything can happen in that 5 game NLDS series. Nice to see the Dodgers have stars and be fundamentally sound which is what teams who win multiple rings have
I have been a Dodgers fan for 40+ years. I saw Gibson hit the famous walk-off in person. People see our recent success and figure we've always had a life of luxury, but that isn't the truth. There were 25 lean years in between with bad owners and bad teams. The pandemic win was like a gorilla off my back. But this win, we fought hard with a beat-up roster, and our manager Roberts ( who me and my friends and family wanted fired) did a hell of a job keeping this team poised and didn't let them fail. This win felt special, and I'm proud of our guys fighting like their lives depended on it. Bleed Blue 💙
Agreed, I'm 51 years old and a 3rd Generation Dodgers Fan. My Fandom roots go back to Brooklyn, my grandparents met on a blind date in 1945, set up by friends cuz they both loved the Dodgers. My dad grew up in SoCal watching Koufax and Drysdale in the 60s. I grew up in the 70s and the 80s with Garvey, Valenzuela (RIP), and Gibson. I stick by my team no matter what. Even if we finish(ed)in the cellar. I have bled Dodger Blue since birth and I will till death. Go Dodgers!!!
Ohtani's choking? are u kidding... without his double in WS game 1 there would be no Freeman's GS. His first 5 games in the playoff had the highest Avg with RISP. You are choking. he was just injuried since game 2. Stop talking baseball.
Aside from that double which was huge! He did struggle in the World Series shoulder injury or not that was the case. Hats off to him for still staying in on what could have easily been a few weeks in the IL. I speak solely on the World Series not entire post season which people tend to care about most
I credit Buehler for coming back and looking like the pitcher we saw in 2021. I was skeptical he would be a factor in the playoffs and he morphed back into ace mode when the Dodgers needed him to.
I was surprised that he came out after just 1 day rest. I thought he might give up a couple of hits at least, but he dominated along with Yankees losing motivation.
@dktopgun1571 it was a bold decision, he was facing the bottom of the Yankees lineup so it was a worthwhile gamble, but I was a little confused why Roberts went that route
I’m not a big baseball fan, I’m just on the Ohtani bandwagon. With Ohtani on the team I started watching Dodgers games when I get the chance. I’ve seen a few games with this pitcher they have that has long hair and I’m thinking he’s very good. Suddenly he stopped playing and I searched the rosters and I think it’s that Glasnow guy. If he’s healthy he could help the team a lot.
@@backinhighschool94He's really, really good, when healthy. Unfortunately, he never stays healthy. To qualify for the ERA title, the most basic statistic for pitchers, you have to average 1 IP for every game, so 162 innings. Glasnow, at 30 years old, having debuted in 2017, threw a career high in innings this year, and it was......140. He kinda lives up to his namesake, dude is made of glass.
@@backinhighschool94 Ohtani brings in alot of people who dont watch baseball before, especially in countries that dont have a good baseball infrastructure. Coming from a country that doesnt really play baseball, I still found him interesting to watch. Last year's wbc's narrative was right, "baseball wins tonight". Man I hope Ohtani a bright future.
Soto is going to be too expensive, and he doesn't move the needle much in a lineup that is already stacked. Pitching is always the most important thing in baseball, especially in the playoffs. Get Roki Sasaki and develop the other pitchers in the Dodgers system. That is more important than getting Soto.
They definitely did not coast this year. Different guys showed up in different series to carry them through. Ohtani with the huge blast in game 1 of the NLDS. The pitchers shutting the Padres down for 2+ games straight to close it out. Tommy Edman, a guy you didn't even mention in this video, led the charge in demolishing the Mets pitching. And then obviously Freeman in the WS. Unsung heroes like Honeywell saving the dawgs in the pen. The ending thought, that the Dodgers are set up well for the future, is absolutely true. You can't expect they're going to face the same massive list of injuries every year. But this year was a fight and guys stepped up when in previous years they've gotten overwhelmed by the moment.
Im 41 yrs old and i fell in love with baseball watching these guys play. They did the small things so well which led up to big plays. Nothing beats the playoffs and WS when it comes to intensity. Im glad i got to experience this run.
Same here, I fell in love watching this team. Maybe I’ve watched 85% of their games and watched a handful of games at the stadium including playoffs. I learned the history of Yankees and Red Sox and saw the Game 7 on Netflix and saw Aaron Boome. It’s no wonder they have ARod, David Ortiz, and Jeter as sports casters and even Dave Robert’s played with Ortiz and had a similar game changing World Series moment to Boomes HR. I love golf, but now I can’t watch golf on tv. Now that the season is over, I don’t know what I’m gonna do with my time.
Baseball is hard it’s impossible to predict how the future shapes out. You mentioned the dodgers making the playoffs for the last 12 years but a grand majority of those times they went out in failure with arguably more complete teams than 2024. You really just never know
Not even arguably. This team limped over the finish line, held together with spit, duct-tape and prayer. We actually batted worse than the Yankees in the WS; we just did the little things better than them.
Of course. I don't know how many times the analytics guys have to explain it......The playoffs are a crapshoot. The sample sizes are so low that these postseason series are essentially coin flips.
@@dukedematteo1995 you hit the nail right on the head. I used to tell people who follow the NHL that all you need to do is get in the playoffs that’s it just get in and then get healthy and hot at the right time. Home ice advantage didn’t mean diddly. Baseball is evolving into the same paradigm. All you need to do is get in and do the right things at the right time and you’ll be successful.
The dodgers did not “coast” to a championship. They had many many challenges and injuries that were overcome by pure determination and hunger by talented players. We pretty much had half a pitching staff coming in and numerous injuries. Just congratulate because they endured and conquered
The point was that they just signed a whole new all star pitching staff when the others were injured. They can just grab up anybody now. Most teams working through injuries etc have to bring up new guys or rely on worse pitchers. LA really didnt battle any injuries because they bought a whole new roster to replace them.
@easytiger35 Is that why they had 5 healthy top end starters for the playoffs and didn't need any bullpen games? Oh wait no, they had 3 and even those 3 were coming back from injury and had their fair share of struggles.
@@jimmybonez8928 Deferrals don't mean he loses salary. It just means he's getting paid later into his life. And even if he gets hurt and has to retire early for whatever reason he can build the contract in a way that it won't just disappear. It's actually happened a lot.
He can stay at Yankees for all i care. Dodgers should sign Sasaki instead. We don’t need more hitters. More pitchers instead. Plus Soto defense capabilities suck.
7:11 It's absolutely fascinating how you conveniently developed a selective memory about Ohtani's injury. It's like, who even remembers that inconvenient little detail of his shoulder dislocating in Game 2? It's almost like injuries are just totally minor inconveniences that don't have any impact at all, especially on the shoulder of an athlete who just might need it for, oh I don’t know, hitting and running. But let's not trouble ourselves with such trivialities, shall we? I’m sure there’s some cosmic truth in overlooking the fact that Ohtani couldn’t exactly dazzle us from the dugout while nursing what is surely just a slight, insignificant shoulder dislocation. I mean, why let a practical necessity like a functioning shoulder interfere with a good old-fashioned narrative about his supposed lack of performance through injury-induced pain after Game 2? And before that injury, it's as if Ohtani's clutch double in Game 1, the one that tied the game 2-2 in the 8th and set up Freddie's grand slam, never happened. Funny how that moment doesn't fit the narrative, huh? Heaven forbid we recognize how that hit prevented the Yankees from casually strolling through Game 1 without a dramatic, spirit-crushing walk-off. And sure, let's keep pretending that Ohtani's pivotal contribution to the Dodgers' spark was just completely irrelevant. Seriously, it seems like no one remembers Ohtani's great LCS performance before the devastating injury, where he had 1.184 OPS, .364 batting average, leading with 9 runs all while moonwalking through bases with his 17 TIMES on base. With a mind-boggling .818 with RISP, the dude basically turned baseball into an artform. He was the unsung NLCS MVP. But of course, let's pretend none of that brilliance ever happened, all because he didn't magically homer in every game with just one hand in the WS. Not to mention, Ohtani saved the team from getting swept by the Padres with his clutch 3-run homer. Without Ohtani, the Dodgers would’ve undoubtedly thrown in the towel in that game and gracefully rolled over, just as they’ve perfected in the last two years. Stick to basketball or something, you are just another casual who clearly only watches highlights.
@@youtubelul436 You need to correct casuals who only watch highlights and overlook Ohtani dislocating his shoulder in game 2 of the WS and saving the Dodgers from being swept by the Padres.
A healthy Dodgers team is very, very scary to every other team. Look what they did at basically 60% strength. If they stay healthy next season they'll Win 111 games again if not more while walking through the playoffs. This team is so ridiculously stacked.
Speaking of Ohtani, if this causal who uploaded this video harnessed a shred of intelligence, he would surely know Ohtani was THE absolute MVP of the entire postseason. He single-handedly rescued the Dodgers from a sweep against the Padres with his clutch 3-run homer. His LCS performance? Pure divinity with a 1.184 OPS, a .364 batting average, and a jaw-dropping .818 with RISP, all while racking up 9 runs and moonwalking across bases 17 TIMES. And, who could overlook his heroics in Game 1 of the World Series, tying it in the 8th with his clutch double, paving the way for Freddie's walk-off? But of course, this pleb overlocks Ohtani’s obvious injury in game 2 and instead, conveniently sum up his WS as "did nothing", as if the obstacles he faced weren't glaringly obvious and didn’t carry the Dodgers to the WS. @@yommish No, he highlighted the World Series, all while conveniently overlooking Ohtani's injury, which diminished his strength (resulting in numerous flyouts). Strangely, there was no mention of Ohtani's clutch double in Game 1 or his role as the savior who halted the Dodgers from their annual first-round catastrophes for the third year running. Oh, and Ohtani’s spectacular NLCS performance? Completely ignored. I wonder why. Perhaps because it disrupts the meticulously curated narrative.
@@Zagirusthis is facts, Shohei had key moments that kept their momentum up. Furthermore, he could’ve sat out after his shoulder was injured because they were up 3-0 and 3-1. But he put his pride aside and decided to play despite being compromised. And to say that helped is an understatement. His mere presence alone changed the trajectory of this series. Aaron Boone doesn’t put in Nestor Cortes in game 1 if Ohtani isn’t there. He’s so talented that accounting for him alone requires you to gameplan in a way that you might have to compromise. Stats aside, what he brings in his presence and poise is what made him so valuable this series. With him and without him would be a world of difference.
He’s another product of siblings blissfully ignoring the FBI’s report and diving headfirst into the fantasy where "Ohtani is a secret gambler and his interpreter is just taking the fall." Because of course, in this alternate reality, it makes total sense that the interpreter would silently accept his fate without a whisper of protest, while Ohtani continues to bask in wealth and luxury. Naturally, anyone who's been "betrayed" would willingly keep quiet, stroll into prison without raising a single objection, and not even attempt to protest their innocence. Absolutely flawless logic there!
1.) we didn't coast (2.) ohtani kept us alive in game 1 of the padres series with a monster 3 run jack and had timely at bats throughout the postseason so don't even suggest he choked (3.) regardless of the series ending in 5, most of the dodgers yankees series was competitive and close so quit saying we "molly whopped" them
Point 3, yes. A bounce here, and one less Yankee error there and the Yanks are up 3-2 headed back to LA. The Dodgers scored 1 more run, but we're outhomered and had a higher ERA and walked more batters. They trailed in the 8th inning or later in 3 different games. It came down to one or two big moments that broke the Dodgers way in Game 1 and definitely in Game 5.
I think it’s hilarious to call the team a villain just because they are good. They have some of the most fun, joyful, humble, respectful, and down to earth players you will ever come across.
The Villain term comes from the fact that they have bought and paid for all of their playoff appearances. They failed at producing young talent and working them into the team. They had to go out and buy their franchise players. Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Yamamoto. I give credit to teams like the Astros, Braves, Red Sox, Cubs, Royals, Giants, Cardinals who have recently won with homegrown talent. Mets, Yankees, Dodgers, Phillies Rangers, have all purchased their players. The league needs a salary cap or a hard luxury tax with no loopholes allowing teams to defer money. That is not competitive for the league.
@drummer6958 name me their top farm system player currently playing on the team. It is not Ohtani, not Betts, not Freeman, not Yamamoto. Astros on the other hand, Bregman, Altuve, Alvarez, McCullers, Garcia, Pressley, Valdez, Tucker, McCormick, Gurriel. That is a good farm system that actually succeeded without buying players. & Don't even think about Trying to claim they cheated in 2017 and that is why they won the WS. The Dodgers were also suspected of cheating. So were the Yankees, Red Sox. Many teams were starting to cheat. Astros were still good enough to win the WS. Dodgers just choked, as they always do. Now they had to literally buy their championship. I give credit to teams like the Royals, Braves, Astros, Red Sox, Cubs, Giants Who won 3 in 5 seasons without buying theirs. Stop trying, I've heard that excuse that they have atip farm system. If they did, they would not need to buy Ohtani, Betts, Freeman, Yamamoto. Please try again.....🤙
@@VinnyMannyBS. Every fan should demand the owners of their teams spend big and creatively like this. You can’t knock teams for cheaping out on rosters AND spending too much.
I'm not even the Dodgers fan but some in this comments section makes me laugh because I love how all this crying about "baseball is doomed, we need a salary cap" only appears when a Big Market team is winning Where was all this talk last year when it was Rangers vs D-backs??😂😂
Well dodgers got swept by Arizona last year and they go and spend 1 billion dollars in the offseason on guys so it’s kinda ridiculous how desperate they are to stay relevant
This Dodgers team dismantled a full strength Pandres team, who I thought was the best team in the league in pitching and hitting led by Yu, Machado and Tatis......it's just not fair, imagine next year's Dodgers at full strength... sheesh
DAVE ROBERTS Did that! He managed this entire team to victory, Mookie Betts was hurt for 3 months, so was Muncy, and played with mostly Triple A guys the whole season. The Padres are legit and I think San Diego would have won it all if not for the Dodgers. Dave Roberts was given no shot to win this year after all of the injures, everyone criticized Roberts use of the bullpen the entire post season and said it would not work, They even questioned him closing the game with Walker Beuler, They questioned him leaving BLake in. Dave Roberts is the BEST MANAGER IN BASEBALL the most winningest manager in his first 10 seasons in the history of the game.
Lmao wow either you’re being purposefully obtuse or you’re not actual much of a baseball fan based on some of the things you said. On the Ohtani contract, it’s been outlined so many times that although his “salary” over the next ten years is $2M per year, the dodgers still have a ~$46M luxury tax hit per year for ohtani’s contract, and the team has to put $44M into an escrow account every year, which is then estimated to grow to the ~$68M/year owed to Ohtani in 10 years. But it’s not like the dodgers get $68M in CBT space and cash flow. The reason why the Padres proposal to Judge was considered luxury tax manipulation/evasion is because they wanted to extend the contract well past his realistic playing window to artificially lower the AAV of the contract. This is way different from deferred money. I wouldn’t expect a casual fan to understand the difference, but I sure would expect someone who researches baseball so much and makes a ton of baseball content to understand the difference. Also the insinuation that we somehow got shohei out of legal trouble when everything was federally investigated by the FBI, IRS, etc. is so incredibly disingenuous. Finally, you’re a Mets fan brother! Lmao your team literally has the deepest pockets of any team in the league and your owner has shown an incredible willingness to throw endless amounts of cash at almost every large free agent. I really don’t think you have a leg to stand on talking about how the dodgers spending ability is so scary. This whole video screams Dodger hater, which is fine. But just be honest about it.
The Dodgers franchise was dormant for at least 2 decades (circa 1988). It is their time. Now, if we can only get the USC Trojans back to Pete Carroll level football... 😂
i want to see what the dodgers can do with an actual healthy starting rotation. even with a depleted staff, they still got the best record in baseball. kinda scary to think about tbh
I know statistics aren’t commonplace for most fans. But Juan Soto does not hit well at ALL in NL west stadiums. He will NOT be coming to Los Angeles. Dodgers are too analytical
LA did not "mollywop" the Yankees. The Dodgers outscored the Yankees by 1 run in this series. They were out homered and had a higher ERA. They won 2 games where they trailed in the 8th inning or later. Yes they won in 5, but they did not DOMINATE the Yankees. A bounce or 2/ one less error and this series goes 7.
I would agree if baseball was like football or basketball where it’s usually the best team playing each other in the end, but that’s not how baseball is. Postseason baseball is more about who’s hot rather than who has the best team and that’s why we see so many wild card teams make it far. This doesn’t happen in other sports and when it does it’s rare.
What the hell is this guy talking about they still had to bat get players home and pitch to get the others out. Doesn’t matter who the players are they need everyone in the team to win.
The dodgers have always been good at developing prospects and saving players when their careers look to be almost over. Now they just spent as much money as they could to fill out the roster with elite talent. Hopefully more owners will start to spend money on their teams. This has a chance to be a very good thing for the league and fans
2016, 2018, 2020, 2022, and now 2024, a #1 seed has won the world series. 2017, 2019, 2021, and 2023, a non-#1 seed has won the world series. What does this mean for next year??
likely Soto won't come to West, which is fine. Don't particularly need him and can do fine without him. Padres faired well this season without him . LA doesn't need to upset the apple cart. Please Sign Teo instead. Better defense ANd also great offensively.
Crazy thing is they don’t need Soto… or anything other than the injured players already in their pitching staff… mind blowing - have money AND farm talent!
I actually think this world series actually was more of an indictment on the Yankees than it was a solidifying moment for the dodgers. The dodgers up until the world series really didn't look like complete world beaters and were very close to not even being in the world series. Meanwhile the Yankees basically lied down and took it from them and looked incredibly overwhelmed by the moment. Especially when you consider that Flaherty being basically the #1 for the dodgers this postseason and was actually really bad, yet faces the yanks in game 1 and does quite decent. Not saying that if they get soto or Add in any significant way it won't be a bad thing, but this showed me way more about the Yankees personally.
The Dodgers did all the little things right.. that’s how they beat the Yankees. As for Mets and Padres.. Dave Roberts has matured into a great manager and outmanoeuvred those Series.
Then you realize. Ohtani, Glasnow, Ryan, Kershaw, Gonsolin, May, Sheehan, and Kelly are all coming back on the mound in 2025. 7 DIFFERENT STARTERS that are coming back and possibly Bobby Miller if he does make a resurgence
They'd probably be smart not to pitch Ohtani next year tbh. He's going to be a better hitter in his career than pitcher, and it's very likely he'd have a 3rd TJS within 2 years.
Dodger fan here… Ohtani is huge in Japan so is Yoshinobu. The increase in Japanese visitors has increase ten fold. Here is a perspective that no one is really touching on, that is that the Japanese talent that looks up to Ohtani will want to play for the Dodgers. Think about that for a few minutes, this is huge! Dodgers will forever be linked with Japan and their baseball talent. Essentially another farm system, that might be a reach however is it really?
Dude the bullpen was our strength this year when we had everyone, which we fortunately got just in time for the playoffs. It's the rotation we need to shape up, and I really hope May, Gonsolin, Kershaw, Ohtani, and Glasnow are OK pitching after coming back from injury. I don't know if we're going to resign Buehler, and Bobby Miller has turned back into a pumpkin. It's up in the air, but hopefully we'll roll sixes on enough of them to keep it going.
So then by that logic the gods should’ve punished mookie for cheating in 2018 with the red sox he openly admitted to cheating but no one wants to talk about that
It makes sense when you put it that way only difference is mookie and freddie both beat LA in the playoffs and won rings of their own with their respective teams lol dodgers have to recruit to get the job done
Mets already have the biggest payroll in baseball...a huge chunk of it dead money getting paid to verlander and scherzer still. You can't just throw money at stars; you have to actually build a team that makes sense from top to bottom, has depth to make sure that the inevitable injuries and slumps can be dealt with, and a culture to make sure everyone is accountable and aimed in the right direction. Fortunately your new GM seems to understand this, so I'm optimistic for the Mets. Looking forward to seeing you guys in the playoffs many more times in the next decade.
This is my favorite video of yours. Excellent down to the last second, I couldn’t agree more with your points. The evil Dodgers are here, and it’s up to the rest of the league to dethrone them.
It's basically Fukuoka Softbank Hawks during the 2010s at this point. I'll be surprised if the Dodgers got knocked out of World Series contention but right now, they're unstoppable.
Dodgers aren’t the “villains”, they are the shining example of how a good baseball organization is supposed to be ran. Give credit to the Dodger staff for reviving these players’ careers, and they’ve been doing that for years. Muncy was stuck in the A’s minor league team, Cardinals gave up on Edman due to injuries, Tigers gave up on Flaherty, Mariners gave up on Teoscar, Hudson was on his last legs, A’s gave up on Treinen, Kopech was blowing saves for the White Sox, etc. As for the stars, Red Sox said Mookie wasn’t worth extending (even though he just won MVP that season), Braves treated Freddie badly towards the end, and Ohtani got out of a terrible situation in Anaheim. When you have a good organization, players WANT to play for you, and that’s exactly how they got the roster they have now. I don’t see how making smart business decisions makes them “villains”
People talk about New York.. Us new Yorkers dont go out burning buses and stealing from stores after a world series win... the messed up part it was mostly all Ninja's 🥷🏿 doing the destruction!!
It's crazy that we won decisively despite Ohtani having only 2 or 3 hits in the world series and an overall average playoff performance, for his standards.
Ohtani had a busted shoulder during the WS, and saved us during the Division Series. I also don't know WTF you're talking about "an average playoff performance for his standards..." he'd never been in the playoffs before because the Angels organization couldn't find its butt with two hands and a map.
Average postseason?? If you actually watched the games and not just highlights, you’d surely know Ohtani was THE absolute MVP of the entire postseason. The Yankees were saying don’t let us win one game but In my head I was thinking don’t let us win this World Series cuz they are going back to back next year
I think the LA Dodgers have changed the look of baseball pitching forever. The fact that they could use Bullpen games and still win the World Series is a game-changer that other teams will no doubt soon follow.
Freeman may have wanted to stay with Atlanta but something happened that suddenly changed his mind. He could have gone to any other team but he chose to go back home and play with the Dodgers.
A lot of credit to the coaches. The pitching coach designed a cylindrical ball that made it easier to see/feel how they throw. Also their hitting coaches have taught the players to be very desciplined on the strike zone and not chase.
I have been a Dodgers fan a long time. I went to one game Dodgers game at Ebbets Field. I don't remember who the Dodgers were playing, or who won and who lost, and of course it doesn't matter. The memory of whatever I can remember got burned into my brain, and is all that matters. I was three or four years old, so probably 1947 to 1949. So yes, Jackie was playing. All I remember about Ebbets Field was being very high up in the upper balcony, or whatever baseball calls it. In the 1960's I bought similar seats in Shea Stadium, and they cost about $1.35. So Ebbets Field seats probably cost 25 cents. I once saw Jackie in person. I was in downtown Brooklyn with my dad, God knows why he took us there. It was winter, I remember seeing half a dozen huge men in the lobby of an office building. They were all wearing those wool overcoats men used to wear. Jackie was one of the men, I remember him clearly. Jackie, who was only 5'11'' looked like Aaron Judge does to me now. Last Dodger memory. In the the sixth grade, 1955, we got autograph books as we were going to another school. In the front of the book there was all kind of silly questions, one was who is your favorite athlete? I wrote in Duke Snider. I'll bet that every kid in Brooklyn filled in the name of a Dodger. Johnny Padres, Pee Wee Reese, Carl Furillo, Roy Campenella, Gil Hodges, infamous Ralph Branca. Sandy Koufax was on the team and he was very fast, but totally inaccurate. So nobody knew his name yet or even wanted to.
Unpopular opinion: it was less the Dodgers “owning” the series, and more the Yankees giving it to them. Multiple games were decided by sloppy defense on routine plays. They beat San Diego not so much because they were better than them, but because they got in their heads. They were better than the Mets, but I can’t help but think that if only a couple things went differently, we’d be talking about another LA postseason exit rather than a title.
So I'm guessing you're in your early 20's because baseball already had their villain and it was the Yankees. That dynasty has 4 more championships than the Dodgers and that was BEFORE any other team signed ANYONE for $100 million. The difference now is that teams are more willing to spend the money so there's more of a level playing field. So until the Dodgers win at least 3 more I wouldn't call them "the villain". They're just loaded with money, willing to spend and in a desirable area for players to want to settle down in. Although I don't know why anyone would want to live in California but that's besides the point. One championship doesn't make them "scary" lol.
It's a funny stat that, because of Game 4, the Yankees and Dodgers scored nearly identical runs at 25 for LA and 24 for NY. Even the mistake ridden Game 5 was only decided by one run. So the games weren't AS bad as they were for NY, although they sure weren't ideal in any way whatsoever.

It's crazy to me how other organizations don't copy that aspect - you don't need to be a baseball genius to do it, just a good person.

@@madxD144 You have to spend some to make some, considering that Dodgers have already made the money back from Ohtani's contract so they are playing with a high roller game.

Calling them villains is a far stretch. The synergy of this team is so special. They fought hard and earned it.
Thank you, Giants fan. Best of luck to our squads in 2025 let's re-ignite the rivalry!
As a Giants fan, i don't mind what are they doing. If you want to win, then get or sign good players. dynasty is always good for the sports.

Oh yeah. I've been a Dodgers fan for a long time. Since 2024. Prior I was an Angels fan.

When everyone is healthy, LA is going to he absolutely DANGEROUS. Keeping pitchers healthy is going to be a whole other battle ha
Soto is not coming to LA. He doesn’t fit the team. His defense is declining and LA has a DH for the next decade.
No to Soto, Yes to Teo
Soto doesn't have enough class to be on the Dodgers
Soto is going to be too expensive, and he doesn't move the needle much in a lineup that is already stacked. Pitching is always the most important thing in baseball, especially in the playoffs. Get Roki Sasaki and develop the other pitchers in the Dodgers system. That is more important than getting Soto.
Don't want Soto anyway
Soto is not the kind of player or human being we need, NO SOTO

True, either the Mets and the Padres can take them out if the conditions are right, but the Dodgers found a way to overcome the odds.
@ THANK YOU!
Now imagine if they were healthy. Then they'd def coast

It's absolutely fascinating how you conveniently developed a selective memory about Ohtani's injury.

Yeah, I agree. They are not villains but role models of how the game should be played.
Success will always breed contempt and that’s always fun.

That game 4 they punted inflates the yankee stats.
@waifubreaks1572 even with that, the difference in the series is an at bat in Game 1 and/or an error in Game 5.
Passive aggressively hating on the Dodgers
What the hell is this guy talking about they still had to bat get players home and pitch to get the others out.
Doesn’t matter who the players are they need everyone in the team to win.
how does this affect Colton Cowsers legacy?
The dodgers have always been good at developing prospects and saving players when their careers look to be almost over. Now they just spent as much money as they could to fill out the roster with elite talent. Hopefully more owners will start to spend money on their teams. This has a chance to be a very good thing for the league and fans

The Dodgers showed up, the Yankees did not. End of story.
These guys lost their *entire* starting rotation at one point. No way they coasted.
Crazy thing is they don’t need Soto… or anything other than the injured players already in their pitching staff… mind blowing - have money AND farm talent!
I wouldn't want Soto for the Dodgers especially his behavior 😂😂😂
To be considered a dynasty in my book, you have to repeat as world champions.....something which just doesn't happen in baseball anymore.
A Dodgers Dynasty like the Yankees had is definitely a possibility.
The Dodgers did all the little things right.. that’s how they beat the Yankees. As for Mets and Padres.. Dave Roberts has matured into a great manager and outmanoeuvred those Series.
Oh yeah, it's good to be a dodgers' fan babyyy~
This is total BS.
The Dodgers are the best team in baseball even with Ohtani playing with one arm. I see them back again in 2025. A repeat.
Not good NLCS ???
Batting average of .364 with 8 hits, 2 homers, 6 RBIs and 9 runs scored in 6 games in the NLCS.
They had like half their rotation on the IL. This was Frieza at 70 percent of his max.
1 armed kid gohan.
^^nerds (but u right)
Dodger fan here… Ohtani is huge in Japan so is Yoshinobu.
The weekly slap as an insane reference
Full strength Dodgers team with their bullpen inadequacies addressed will be dangerous
@@adamkoslin9302The bullpen could use some help also. We need another lefty and maybe better lower tier pitchers.
When butthurt baseball fans and pundits say "Involved in a gambling scandal" the rest of the world calls it "victim of theft".
I kept telling people that this team wasn't firing on all cylinders. An entire pitching roaster full of aces on the IL for the entire year.
The baseball gods punished the Yankees because of those stupid fans that attacked Mookie Betts
So then by that logic the gods should’ve punished mookie for cheating in 2018 with the red sox he openly admitted to cheating but no one wants to talk about that
Don’t think 13 consecutive postseason appearances and only winning 1 championship doesn’t count as a dynasty
Respectfully as a dodgers fan we own New York
Dodgers are the new warriors, it's time for a Dynasty to take over.
I wish the mariners could at least get to the ws before a new dynasty is born
It makes sense when you put it that way only difference is mookie and freddie both beat LA in the playoffs and won rings of their own with their respective teams lol dodgers have to recruit to get the job done
I really want to see Mets make some strong moves and content with this beast of a team
Looking forward to seeing you guys in the playoffs many more times in the next decade.
giants fan here. the next 5 years are going to be suffering
I wouldnt really say "villain", but rather " the team to beat".
As a Dodgers fan, not a dynasty until we get at least one more imo but I don’t see anything stopping us.
count the one the astros cheated in if it helps but its already a dynasty
And his heroics in Game 1 of the World Series, tying it in the 8th with his clutch double, paving the way for Freddie's walk-off? But of course, you’re another casual who overlooks his obvious injury in game 2 and instead, conveniently sum up his WS as "did nothing", as if the obstacles he faced weren't glaringly obvious and didn’t carry the Dodgers to the WS.
Stick to basketball or something.
The dramatic music really solidified your point...
Dodgers didnt coast through the padres. Ill tell u wat
Professional standard production, sir.
It's crazy to think how much better they'll be next year with a healthy pitching staff
Edman and teo were clutch too!!!
No Soto for Dodgers. He doesn't fit Dodgers culture or team mentality. Soto, Linder, Machado, Tatis, they all can stay where they are.
Dodgers are GOOD GUY "villains"
David Stearns please save us
Heck yeah. I'm ready. Go Dodgers!!
Great breakdown. For the sake of balance I’m hoping Sasaki does not land in LA next season lol
Unlikely for Roki Sasaki to join any MLB team at the moment.
Go Dodgers! ❤🎉
