      @@88BW-e4o I'm a Red Sox fan, and that team is a prime example of what you said. John Henry looks at a team like last year's Diamondbacks who made the World Series with only a few more wins than the Red Sox, and he says, 'We don't need expensive superstars to get in the dance, we just need a couple more wins.' But where are the D-backs now? Sustained excellence like the Dodgers, the Braves, the Phillies, and yes, even those goddam Yankees, costs money.

      @sdt01o1 yup. You can have career years from guys and stars can align to get you 'a' WS ring or 'a' division title, but sustained success takes effort and brains and a willingness to spend what other teams won't and take chances that other teams won't.

    • @88BW-e4o

      @@sdt01o1 Look. I get it. You can't just throw money at one or two superstars and expect your team to win the WS the following year. You're not gonna sign Juan Soto to the Pirates and expect them to hoist the Commissioners Trophy in 2025. But these owners like Nutting, Dolan and Fisher aren't (let's just be honest here) interested in actually winning the WS. They're happy with spending as little as possible and making as much as possible, which in itself is fine as a business. But honestly, if all you're looking to do is make money, don't do it with a business like baseball in which us fans literally spend dollars, years, and tears waiting for our teams to win. Luckily, I'm a Dodgers fan and I am grateful to have such an owners group with win-at-all-cost attitude. And as for John Henry, I think he's doing a decent job with the Red Sox (although I do question some of that management group's decisions in recent years). Bottom line, if your main goal, as the owner of a sports team, isn't to actually win it all every year, get out and manage the damn Gap stores or something and leave baseball alone.

    • @matt_h_27
      @matt_h_27 13 дней назад +1

      @@Iridescence93 this is true, but it doesn’t change the fact that the playing field is far from level in MLB. And that’s sad for the fans of smaller market teams. It’s not based purely on merit. It’s mostly about money and the fans get robbed because of it. The Dodgers built a good organization, but they also bought superstars that most other teams couldn’t afford. And there’s nothing those other teams can do about it. The result is that it’s not really special when the Dodgers win the WS. It’s expected, and if they don’t they’re a massive failure. And they fail more often than not only because of the natural gravitational balance of the sport itself. This is why most of the Yankees championships are illegitimate. They had no real competition.

      @@matt_h_27 I know this as a Rays fan. Friedman came from the Rays. He learned how to build a good team on the cheap and now has a big wallet besides. It is kind of a scary thing. But yeah, while there are ways for smaller market teams to sort of compete if they're smart about it they are at a disadvantage. It's never been a fair system. Critics often think the Dodgers simply buy their players, but many teams offered similar deals during trades. The Dodgers, however, invest wisely-creating a welcoming environment, developing talent through drafts, trades, the farm system, and fostering a positive team culture. These factors make players favor the Dodgers. Shohei Ohtani’s deferred payment option was available to all teams, yet he chose the Dodgers, adding a clause to opt out if President Andrew Friedman leaves. This shows Ohtani’s trust in the Dodgers to make good use of his deferred payments.

      @@javi994 The A's won 97 games in 18 and 19, while going pretty cheap. A few years later, they spent even less and went bad intentionally. If the A's would have spent the money to keep those 97 win teams together, or something similar several times since 2000, then they might have a championship by now.

    Do a video about teams that spent big and lost next, like the Mets and Padres last year. The Yankees and Padres have $1B invested in 4 players. Also the Rangers and Phillies have a huge payroll.

      at the end of the day dodgers need to recruit to get the job done

      @Gman1298 like you wouldn't want your team to get them if they were available! They're great players! Lol, seems to me like you're mad that free agency exists, trades exist and in pro sports you have the ability to go out and make your team better.

    Why would anyone discount 2020 season when every team had the exact same opportunity to win? If anything, the 2017 WS should’ve belonged to the Dodgers as well. And deferring Shohei and Yamamoto’s salary was purely genius. Other teams are just jealous for not coming with that idea. Dodgers are playing 3D Chess while other teams are playing checkers.

    • @Bobo-jy5mg
      @Bobo-jy5mg 19 дней назад +1

      Deferring salaries is not some new concept in sports bud. Plus not every team has the resources to allow for such deferment. The budgets are already so tight as it is now that to add on to that in later years such a big expense would crush them into oblivion

    I am a bit surprised the Los Angeles Dodgers won. For one our starting rotation was not good. Yoshinobu Yamamoto had no time to really warm up for the post season for he arrived from the il two weeks before the Postseason. Walker Buehler was struggling all season giving out homers like candy. The only reliable starting pitcher was Jack Flaherty. Both Tommy Edman and Max Muncy arrived like two or three weeks before the Postseason. Freddy Freeman was playing on one leg and Miguel Rojas was playing with no legs. We are screwed. But no the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the healthy and most potent team the San Diego Padres wich had a very talented/disciplined starting rotation:
