In 2020 when both Lakers and Dodgers won, Covid made it a very muted celebration, and LA didn’t get any parade for either Bubble championships. We knew they were legit, but no group celebrations sadly. Whooped it up for 2024 though!
I doubt they are going to sustain this level of dominance, but having Ohtani winning a ring out of the way is going to be exciting. Without him having to “chase ring”, he could spend the rest of his career just having fun, playing the crap out of his dual roles rather than having to manage his body to win. I can imagine him reducing his hitting one season, trying to go for Cy Young one year, then chase the hit record next or something. It’s an entire world of possibilities.
I wouldnt be sure they can keep this going (not saying the will win the world series next year). They have made 4 of the last 8 world series. Next year Shohei will pitch along with Glasnow, Gonsolin and May. On paper the team next year is better as long as they keep Teo and Buehler. We will also have Edman for a full year.
Sustain what? Winning the division? 11of the last 12 years it's been the Dodgers. The only year they didn't win it. They won 106 games for 2nd best record in the Beaseball. I really think its gonna be a crazy good next 4 years of Dodgers Beaseball.
Rich, I was at the game last night and what a gut punch. But it turns out my section was mainly purchased for Dodgers front office personnel and they were losing their minds. They were all flown out on a charter flight and free tix to all 3 games and a great hotel near Grand Central. I thought I was in Dodger Stadium for a moment. They were good sports though. Still thinking about what could’ve been for the Yankees though after being up 5-0.
@@papageorges6428 I even lead with the defense, and you're all about the lack of offense. It's as if you can't read what I wrote and instead demand I deal with your thoughts of nothing. Amazing! You're striking out, Sir.
I’ve been playing “I love LA” by Randy Newman all morning. This was a hell of a season for the boys in blue. Resign flaherty, buehler, and teo. We don’t need Soto. Pages will continue to improve. Glasnow, stone, may, Miller, gonsolin, kershaw and OHTANI take the offseason to get healthy and give the dodgers the deepest rotation in the history of baseball. Take a swing at Willy adames and a few depth pieces in FA, and we’re back at it in spring. I love LA.
It was a gentlemen’s sweep! Judge, Boone and Cole all sold for the Yanks. Honestly happy for Freddy and Teo! They won with a 3 man rotation , being down 2-1 against the Padres in SD was their biggest hurdle. With that said Judge vs Ohtani failed to deliver on the hype but nonetheless I tuned in. Dodgers are only beginning too and if the rumors are true they will be in the hunt for Soto even if it’s an overkill for this stacked team. The investments paid off
They don't need Soto, stop listening to random rumors. This team is already stacked and ready, very little adjustment needed. Just need healthy pitchers.
Shohei will become an alcoholic by how much champagne he will be drowning in when this Dodgers team becomes one of the longest winning Dynasties in MLB.
Most of their best players are 30 or older. I sincerely doubt they have the longest dynasty of recent decades unless they all age like Lebron, Brady, or Tiger haha. Nobody knows how well Shohei will bounce back or how long he will be able to consistently play 2-way either. It's not like there are a bunch of examples of how well a 2-way player with 2 TJ surgeries will age. Sure, knowing Ohtani he could be a slam dunk MVP again in 2025 but it feels quite far from a guarantee. The injuries may take their toll as he gets older
@@173jaSon371I have no inside info, but I think it's very likely Ohtani gives up pitching especially if he has injury issues when he resumes pitching next season. Babe Ruth couldn't or wouldn't continue as a two way player. Time will tell.
It’s not like 2020 Dodgers played under different conditions than the other 29 teams. Everyone was in the same boat. If your team had won in 2020 instead, and a Dodger fan suggested it was somehow not legitimate, you’d be right to defend your team’s championship. I wonder if a lot of that talk comes from Astro fans who still had a guilty conscience about 2017.
@ I don’t see the point of stripping titles. We had the moment, got the parade, bought the shirts. Whatever. Had a better record on the road that year anyway.

Thank you for being Honest! That is great sportsmanship👍. I wish the rest of the country would feel that way after the election. Win or lose live with it and come together as Americans
People forget they won in 1981 which was the Strike season. They finished the first half with the best record which got them in the playoffs and then it didn't matter what they did in the second half. No one did nor should they discount that either.
Rich listed a lot of Dodgers but one name not mentioned was Teoscar Hernandez. Clutch hitting and a defensive play that stopped a Yankee rally. C'mon people. Give him a little love.
What a surprise, the team that’s dominated the whole league all season with 98 wins and has absolutely torn through the World Series is actually good 🙄. Seriously, the amount of people saying “Dodgers in 6” was straight up disrespectful. So many people wanted the Dodgers to lose that bad, which must make this championship feel even sweeter for the Dodgers.
Can someone clarify this "asterisk" for the 2020 season? I get that it was a shortened season, but EVERY team had equal opportunity to win it right? Is it just salty people upset that their team won? Cause the mental gymnastics people do to justify their own hatred for another team winning is ludicrous.
Speaking for countless lifelong Red Sox fans, we are awash and overwhelmed in a flood of sobbing Yankee fan tears watching Judge and the pissy pinstripes poop the bed. We bow to the Dodgers for giving us a sad Yankee dugout and Yankee Stadium fan face on our TV screens. Thank you scrappy Dodgers!
Rich and team most knowledgeable baseball people along with Foul Territory and Talking Baseball with Trev and Chris. Forget about the Mad Dogs, Wilbons, Steven A’s, etc
As an Angeleno, it really does feel like LA is a Dodger Town. The fans, the coverage, etc. The attention the Dodgers have generated since the new ownership is palpable. The Shaq-Kobe years, and even the Kobe-Pau years ... yeah, it was still a Laker town. But year after year, this city is so in love with the Dodgers more than any other. LeBron hasn't really changed anything. You have to be here to appreciate the passion for the Blue.
You’re not a Dodger fan if you put an asterisk on it. Everyone played the shortened season. Montreal Expos 1994 WS champions* How’s that sound? (Best record on August 11).
Assuming we can stay healthy and keep this core group of players, I honestly think we can win the next two put of four WS. Nothing is ever certain in baseball, as if proof of Game 5 in this WS but if we can lock in, we have a dynasty in our hands
3:32 "Goes and steals 50 bases and hits 50 home runs in the regular season." To clarify Ohtani hit 54 home runs and stole 59 bases, he didn't just about get to 50/50, he sped past it.
The media doesn't want to mention the Yankees were on the verge of winning game 1 until the GOAT hit the triple in the 8th inning under pressure to tie the losing game for the Dodger. If Yankees took game 1, things can look totally different. Yanks could be up 3-2, if they won game 1 and Cole didn't get lazy.
If the Dodgers go shopping in free agency this winter, I don't think it will be for Juan Soto. They'll fortify their starting rotation and their bullpen again.
Thanks to the 2 NY goons who attacked M. Betts. You poked the bear and you got served on a silver patter. Sweet Revenge. Dodgers show they can't be stop. Awesome come back in one of best, if not the best world series ever.
They need to bring the ALCS & NLCS Championship games back into regular TV Channels. It only give special preferences to certain groups of people who can afford $60 per month dish subscription
Just wish it would have ended without all the errors, only reason I wish Yankees won is so we could keep watching the dodgers play more and win at home. Most fun watching baseball in years
Never understand an asterisk for 2020 championship. 60 games is still a championship. World Baseball Classic is only 7 games. No asterisk. Super Bowl championship is only 21 games in a season. 60 games is heaps!
So as a group of dudes who are not from LA… let me explain it to you this way. The Lakers amplify the image of LA… the Dodgers are the people of LA. We are a Dodger town
We've got to give props to ownership and management. You can have the deepest pockets all you want but you don't stay on top by spending money alone. They have a vision, they have a strategy and then they execute. Money helps a lot of course but you can throw money away or you can spend wisely and that's what the Dodgers are doing. Management never panics. They could've fired Roberts a long time ago but they didn't. They kept their faith in him. They don't only have a lot of money and stars on their team but they have one of the mest farm systems. That's why if they can't spend they trade. This organization took it's first step to a dynasty.
Dodgers won the post-season tournament in 2020, but don't call it a World Series. Every other WS winner in history had to play a full season before the WS.
You know who called it the World Series? Major League Baseball who makes all the rules, sets the schedule that determines its champion. That season, it was a full season, for the Dodgers and for every other team in baseball who competed and fell short in the same circumstances. We could argue there have been no WS winners after 1994 when the wild card became a thing- 4 playoff teams became 8. Or after 2012 when wild card was expanded with 10 playoff teams. During WW2, a good portion of the best players in baseball were missing. Any guesses what they called it during those distinctive years? Things change. Extraordinary events happen, we adjust. At least some do.
Cmon Rich, i know ur a Yankee fan but u live in LA and host your show here. U should know a thing or two about the Dodgers. Walker Buehler is an UFA. I hope we can bring him back but he’s gonna cash in that well deserved check. Gavin Stone had shoulder surgery and is gonna miss all of 2025. Teoscar also an UFA. We have some big shoes to fill, hopefully we can bring back those 2 but i think we have a better chance at signing Teoscar
Ohtani wrote out his goals for his entire life. He said he will win 3 World Series and retire at the age of 40. He just needs 2 more WS and he’s done everything he wanted to do.
the wheels were falling off the dodgers as the game was progressing and basically went with the "ramming speed" option by way of letting buehler be the closer. they were out of pitchers after treinen.
Yankees fans need to chill on Boone and Judge. Dodgers fumbled many times in big games and the organization kept the faith. Look where they are now. Yankees will come around and be dominant if they just keep the core together. Go Doyers.

Hopefully that injury won't hamper his years of production going forward.
😂LOL we just getting started we will win the next 2 WS
Yanks were sloppy all year but their bats covered it. Finally bit 'em in the butt in the WS. Gotta clean up the plays, get back to fundamentals.
Dodgers flew in on the New England patriots plane. They arrived on LA this morning and landed in the same plane.
Muncy made himself an amazing defensive 3rd baseman. His bat didn't show up but his glove did.

They can get somebody else at 3rd base who doesn't go 0-14 in the WS.
@@MitchPatriothe gives us 30homer and 100 rbi year in year out so no we can't get another 3rb basement like him for that cheap

The investments paid off
Shohei played decent the first two series when Freddie was not playing well.
They don't need Soto, stop listening to random rumors. This team is already stacked and ready, very little adjustment needed. Just need healthy pitchers.
Thank you 💙
Thanks Rich. You and those two Mets gals that have the Mets podcast made our day.
Rich delivers the one and only top ace commentary
@@173jaSon371let’s wish him for the best because so much fun watching his baseball
@@173jaSon371I have no inside info, but I think it's very likely Ohtani gives up pitching especially if he has injury issues when he resumes pitching next season. Babe Ruth couldn't or wouldn't continue as a two way player. Time will tell.

Stay away from FanDual! Lol
Been waiting to see what rich has to say 😂
Didn't mention the Yankee collapse.
Bro, no. Astros fans wanted that 2020 title and we would have gladly counted it had we won it.
@@walterheisenberg251You're just lucky that Manfred didn't grow a pair and strip you of the title you stole in 2017.
@ I don’t see the point of stripping titles. We had the moment, got the parade, bought the shirts. Whatever. Had a better record on the road that year anyway.
You're a class act, Rich.
As a Brave fan I'm so glad Freddie is getting his!

Thank you for being Honest! That is great sportsmanship👍. I wish the rest of the country would feel that way after the election. Win or lose live with it and come together as Americans
That was Ballzy for Robert's to keep that reliever in and let his starter close out the game!
People forget they won in 1981 which was the Strike season. They finished the first half with the best record which got them in the playoffs and then it didn't matter what they did in the second half. No one did nor should they discount that either.
Man, I know TJ is a Cowboys fan and all, but that's gotta be the coolest Halloween costume ever.

And, Yamamoto. Edman, too.
10:13 i guess otani was worth that money 😂
THIS IS A DODGERS TOWN YOU WILL BY THE PARADE TOMORROW
Can someone clarify this "asterisk" for the 2020 season? I get that it was a shortened season, but EVERY team had equal opportunity to win it right? Is it just salty people upset that their team won? Cause the mental gymnastics people do to justify their own hatred for another team winning is ludicrous.
Exactly. Haters.
Dodgers have heart. Congrats
Roberts is the winningest manager during his tenure.
Both things can be true, Dave didn't do a great job in the past and has learned and gotten better. He did an excellent job this year
As a dodger fan, the bubble win had a asterisk, this win was important to solidify that win
Not anymore it doesn't.
You’re not a Dodger fan if you put an asterisk on it. Everyone played the shortened season. Montreal Expos 1994 WS champions* How’s that sound? (Best record on August 11).
@BingWrosby *the dodgers won a 60 games season!
Yeah, that your team couldn't win.
@@adriangarcia6090 that’s precisely where the shade comes from.
Ohtani leaves the Angels and just doesn't go to the playoffs for the first time, but WINS THE WS!!!!!!
Pretty sure that grand slam has been talked about ad nauseum by every sportscaster in the business. Which media are you referring to?
Next year Ohtani will be pitching too
That's the scary part. The Dodgers won with a depleted rotation. Glasnow was out for the playoffs, Kershaw, Stone were out.
If the Dodgers go shopping in free agency this winter, I don't think it will be for Juan Soto. They'll fortify their starting rotation and their bullpen again.
@@jabello Yeah. I think they'll resign Teoscar Hernandez and Walker Buehler plus make a run at Burnes.
As an Atlanta Braves fan, I’m very happy for Freddie Freeman who going to the Hall of fame when his career is over. Congratulations to the LA Dodgers!

Never understand an asterisk for 2020 championship. 60 games is still a championship. World Baseball Classic is only 7 games. No asterisk. Super Bowl championship is only 21 games in a season. 60 games is heaps!
Dodger fan but Cole was cold man. Did all he could.
So as a group of dudes who are not from LA… let me explain it to you this way. The Lakers amplify the image of LA… the Dodgers are the people of LA.
We are a Dodger town
Super classy and smart.
Thank you for being so Classy Rich which is more than I can say for some scumbags who flipped off and assaulted our boys in blue 💙 GO DODGERS
@@ricopo3522 Nah, you cannot equate a 2020 WS win with any other WS win, including the many earned by the Dodgers.

Gavin Stone had shoulder surgery and is gonna miss all of 2025.
Teoscar also an UFA. We have some big shoes to fill, hopefully we can bring back those 2 but i think we have a better chance at signing Teoscar

the wheels were falling off the dodgers as the game was progressing and basically went with the "ramming speed" option by way of letting buehler be the closer. they were out of pitchers after treinen.
Yankees fans need to chill on Boone and Judge. Dodgers fumbled many times in big games and the organization kept the faith. Look where they are now. Yankees will come around and be dominant if they just keep the core together. Go Doyers.
The Dodgers was so calm being down 5-0, it's like they knew the Yankees was gonna fold
