We drove the new Arrma Big Rock V3 today back to back with the Arrma Granite to figure out the differences in how they drive and perform.

I wish I'd watched this a week ago. At the weekend when i was out with my Big Rock, the rear axle and driveshaft parted company. Good to know at least it's known.
Love the 3s line, the big rock body doesn’t get bent or crushed in the rear, the granite body crushed in like a water bottle in the rear first run. BIg Rock all day! If someone is on the fence and can’t decide. Great video!

@@mrtambourineman6107 I’m beginner I’m get me big rock learn off the speed it comes with then put the other battery in !!!! Can’t wait it either granite or this they both supped up but I think rock better more powerful and bigger then granite 4x4

I have both the V1 versions of each vehicle. on the Big Rock I put in the hub extender and PL badlands on it. Once I did that it was solid AF. I don't think I've broke anything major on it since. To this day I haven't decided which one I liked better. They both are awesome rigs!
The granite is killing it right now. I’ve been beating mine to hell and I just broke the servo which is whatever becouse I needed to upgrade. I think this thing is almost unbreakable. Love your vids man. Your the reason I got a granite from your shootout

I have beat the dog crap out of my ARRMA Granite 4x4 BLX100 and have never had to touch it. Aside from cleaning it. Bulletproof. It possible I just got lucky but it is to this day the only RC I’ve ever had that has been thru the fire and not one single issue. I’ve got the cheetah extreme the J3 speed (love the jlb speed) I’ve got a ZD short course 1/8 scale 4S a ZD thunder 9116 brushless a 144001 (of course) and the OG Laegendary 1/10 brushed 540. Everyone of them I’ve rebuilt multiple times except the ARRMA. THANKS FOR THE VIDEO. I APPRECIATE YOU GUYS

I've got the typhon 3s. Want to grab my 2nd RC but not sure what to get in the 3s range. Either the senton, granite or the big rock.
What would you go for?

@@PeteWylieRC yeah I've spent all day on modelsport trying to decide what to order. Tbh I only run it up and down the street and on grass. Never tried bashing. 3s range is my budget. Got the typhon so my try senton,granite or big rock.
Might even get the typhon v3 as got the v2 and can use it for parts.

Both are great vehicles.
I bought a V3 Big rock from my local hobby store and it came with spacers, I'm using a large spacer and medium spacer in the back, then the front I put 2 large spacers, It comes with 2 spacers with each such different from large to medium then small or skinny spacer for the shock
The stock plastic shocks are trash and leak, the only bad part I've found on the truck in any way. Pick up some aluminum adjustable shocks from eBay or Amazon and replace those ASAP. Other than that, I've beat the crap out of my Granite, and it just keeps rolling.
If you had to pick just one would it be big rock or granite? Just curious. I currently have 6s outcast and 8s outcast and im looking for a 3s truck. I got the outcast on extreme sale so its not that im a stunter, although i do send them pretty hard.
I had that same same Gens ace and within a year one of the cells died, so I hacked it up and turned it into a 2s so it wasn't a total waste. Also had one of their racing series batteries and the terminals melted through the case. I believe they make good batteries I have just had bad experience with most of them.

Great comparison video! I can't decide on the granite or big rock 3s. I already have a Kraton 6s and looking for something smaller to bash around in smaller areas. I also want to be able to drop it to 50% and hand it off to a younger kid. Big rock seems more stable, granite seems like it has more personality with it's squirrely style. Seems kind of fun to flip around, but does it get unmanageable or just a pain to drive? What's your personal favorite to drive? Thanks!
Would you please recommend me which battery I should get. I have a Spektrum Smart S150 AC/DC RC Battery Charger. I’m completely clueless. Thank you in advance!
I’m no expert so that up front. I have this same truck. I already had some 3S 5000mah batteries and adaptors to run this truck. I wanted to get the “smart” battery from spectrum and no joke from a venom 5000 3S with adaptor to the Spectrum smart blah blah 5000 3S gave that granite another gear (not literally) but big speed increase big power increase. Can’t explain it just wanted to share if you’re rocking the Arrma with the IC5 plug try one of those new Spectrum Batteries. It was 90 bucks for one.
Only thing I'm wondering is with the big rock obviously being bigger, does it take more hits or is the shell the same thickness as the granite

I found fitting 4s 2400kv spektrun and 20t pinion on the 3s line makes them alot more powerful on 3s
Wow the big rock lands better than granite. More solid jumping it looks like a fixed granite. Longer arms fixed it in the air. Hate the body look over granet. I haven't liked arma because of how there 3 s trucks land but now they got something for me to buy. In the big rock. Nice 👍

Would it be okay to run deans on a granite 3s? I have batteries with deans and I'm not really wanting to buy new batteries...
It would probably work, but not ideal.

Great video. I’m looking at buying my first RC truck and can’t decide between the big rock and the granite.I’d be mostly using it in the backyard and at parks/forests. I believe the big rock has higher clearance? My concern for the granite is that it might be harder to handle, esp as I’m a new into the hobby, and the big rock could be more stable/easier to control, correct? Any suggestions/advice would be greatly appreciated. Cheers and thanks
I'd get the Big Rock, much easier to drive and the ground clearance is only very slightly less.

@@RazorRC how much less is the ground clearance in centimeters? I was wondering exactly that because I ordered the big rock but was worried that I may be missing on the monster truck experience if it is too low.... Is it as low as other models?
Hi just ordered arrma big rock 3s as my first rc. Is there anything you recommend doing or changing before i run the car? Also all i have is deans connection batteries so what do i need to bypass this?
You solder ec5 connectors on the batteries or you solder deans connectors on the car
Reinforce the body. Plenty of vids on youtube. I did and u won't regret it

Those shocks still leak?
So what’s better?
Anyone have any issues with their shocks? I've had 2 shock's shafts pull out from the bottom eyelet. Looks like they are just a knurled metal shaft end which is pressed into the plastic eyelet, cant see any signs of adhesive. Crazy that they pulled apart like that, very gentle bashing going on with this truck so far. Was able to super glue them and press them back into place, but who knows how long that will last... Thanks guys.
Yeah, they updated the shocks on the Vorteks to use threaded eyelets, but the rest of the lineup has those dumb knurled shafts. I've pulled a few out too.
@@RazorRC on the ones that pulled out did you try fixing them with super glue or anything or did you just replace them? So far so good on mine but now I have another problem, just stripped out the rear differential input gear :-( maybe I had my slipper too tight?

Hey, does anyone has also driveshaft issues with their v3 3s Arrma? I got my granite two weeks ago and it have eaten 2 driveshafts. I haven't touched the slipper and the punch setting is always at level 3
Try loosening your slipper. Mine was set too tight.

I have both and my big rock can hit an easy 4 backflips on this 3' mound not even full speed so yes three are possible without a giant ramp
