- The latest ARRMA 3S vehicles have been unleashed and we have one to test out. Meet Version 3 of the Granite 4x4 3S BLX RTR Monster Truck. The popular ready to run basher truck has gone through a number of revisions to improve durability and performance. In this video we’ll go over those changes and make comparisons to the previous version. Then Greg will take the truck out for some off-road bashing on both a 2S LiPo with some close-up video and then on 3S while he narrates how the truck feels and reacts. Plus he’ll give you his final thoughts on the truck as well. Will this truck hold up to abuse? Let’s just say it leaves the test field with only three wheels. You’ll need to watch the full video to see what happens!

I'm an Arrma guy. All 3 Granite V2 4X4 BLX, Talion V3 6S and my V4 Kraton 4S. Both the Talion and Kraton are waiting on parts to fix them. My Granite the only complaint I ever had was the Body. The Orange backend is destroyed but I have new bodies for all 3 Trucks. I'll Gorilla Tape the new ones. You did convince me that I'm gonna pull the trigger and buy the V3 of the Granite. I like it, seems great. It's a great price point as well. Great video.

I'm still enjoying my v2 granite. I just got a new zee 3s lipo and it made the truck turn into a monster. I thought it was fast before but now that I have this new battery it's like I supercharged it. Love the Granite. I might just get some v3 parts for it.

It'd be cool if you could do followups on models talking about what is wrong and what has broken. It seems like the only time we get to hear about the defiencies of a model is when a new revision comes out that fixes those deficiencies.

Gotta love an RC truck with a Brushless system. I converted mine to Brushless and a Lipo battery, and its a speed demon.
Now I can tell a version 2 from a version 3! Mine is a v2.
Too, every rtr I get, I wd40 the front & rear a arms for 3 days. Have since the brittle-ness of my Kaiju (when parts were non-existent ) & still do. I noticed that 1 end looked like it had some on it in ur review.

Best little 1/10 scale basher truck on the market.
Got the v.2 for my brother to get him into the hobby, he loves it! Had that same screw back out, no locktite. I like how arrma made a hole in the base of the driveshaft to tighten it, worth noting tho you can't get to it with a regular Allan tool, I have rc tools fixed it up. Got him a 50c 3s this thing wheelies even @ full speed! Im impressed by how tough it is, he's not a good driver 😆 love your vids Greg I like the commentary part while driving, that's new. Keep it up dude!👍👏

I currently have the v3 Mega Granite and Senton both with hobbywing 3s combos and no issues with the drivetrain and the new servo is amazing !
How do you like the senton? I’m looking at buying one

Bought the v3 about 3 months ago absolutely love the truck. Did have a faulty speed controller basically right out of the box but was replaced no charge and haven't had an issue since! I have broken some components but that's due to the cold weather over all seems like a great truck love it so far!
This is one of the best arrma trucks

Arrma did a great job with all the V3 trucks! Since I already have a granite V2 I think I’m going to get the Typhon BLX V3.
You would love it! Its one of my favorite trucks! I put a 19t pinion, duratrax buggy wheels and 6s typhon shocks! Its a beast!
That new grill has some F-150 inspiration.
Good info. I prefer the older body style personally, but the upgrades are definitely welcomed.

The V1 and V2 also had the 4s diffs in them. No change there. It's only the mega versions that got upgraded to the 3s/4s diffs.
My v3 big rocks wheel did the same thing. Thread lock fixed it. Only other issue was the motor locked up sue to a bad bearing arrma gave me a new one and this truck is great now. It's a good truck and tough.
I like that new wheelie bar design. Looks like it would fit my Kraton 4s. Might just pick that up. I already did a mod where I am using the better 6s wheels and tires for the 4s wheelie bar. Just had to tap 4mm holes and bolt them on. Much more stable. Block long wheelies all day.
Great video as usual, can’t wait to see the completed studio, I’d love to see a shop/studio build video series. I’m a fan of DIY and the RC hobby, which I’m assuming most people in this hobby is...otherwise we’d be RC collectors. 😬
might be strong but not too easy to repair. i crashed mine and broke the arm that holds the front wheels and suspension together in order to replace it i had to:
1 take off the wheel
2 unscrew pretty much every screw in the suspension
3 take the bottom floor plate off
4 take the grill off (made even harder by the use of the screws on the inside instead of the outside)
5 take the metal bar that holds the arm out
6 put the new arm on and do everything again but in reverse.
so note that even though it is incredibly strong if you do manage to break it the non-electronic parts are incredibly hard to replace
That’s the hobby tho lots of folks actually enjoy that part

That's awesome they put the huge 4s gears into this i rod the hell out of my 4s kraton and even though the ring gear is plastic it's huge and i never had a problem
I've got the V2 and have always loved it except for the leaky stock shocks, and because I love airbrushing bodies so much, alot of Stampede bodies fit the Granite. I'm currently running the Pro-Line Ambush "Bronco" Body . I was wanting to get the new Big Rock it looks sick,but unfortunately it's not as aftermarket body compatible as the Granite,so I'm just going to save my money and wait for something else to drop.
I changed radio brands and steering servo . It's been 3 years of fun . No regrets .

Hopefully the senton 3s box have some the same upgrades, if so I'm going to be upgrading my senton (monster senton) to some be parts, great video man, love watching keep them coming and hope you got moved into the new house and everything went good for you and your family.

I ordered a Senton blx a month ago and Horizon said the new versions are coming first week of September.

Seconded. I don't understand why nobody's reviewing Big Rock! It's the most upgraded v3 model so far.
@@Rathbone_fan_account I think its due to they are just focusing on the granite to try to boost that model a little more as I'm sure the big rock is doing much better in New sales so they fiqure why push that model to these guys when its not needed

Last couple videos looked like you need sunscreen and Gatorade. I had the first Granit with tamiya plug that line has come along way in performance !
Same thing happened to me, same wheel too. Had to modify an Allen wrench to get it back together, only 2 fasteners had to be removed.

Just gonna put this out there so let the hate flow. Over-experienced Granite driver here, and this updated version seems to do little to address the truck's actual problems, which are:
- Leaky shocks. They're the same as the ones on my truck. You'll find tons of forum threads, videos and accounts of how this truck's shocks leak.
FIX: I bought some GPM shocks. They're expensive, but they do what the stock units are supposed to do without leaking.
- Disposable servo. Maybe this new spektrum unit will work better, but it has the exact same specs as mine, which died within a month.
FIX: I bought a cheap 21kg servo from banggood.com. Never had servo problems again.
- Faulty ESC wiring. Because of the resistor things they added to the ESC wires going from the ESC to the battery, Part of the wire is rigid and part of the wire is flexible. My wires chopped off after a perfect landing on pavement.
FIX: I chopped the ESC wires right up to the resistors and re-soldered the remainder to the ESC's + and - pins, bypassing the resistors. Still not sure how this is going to work in the long run, but so far so good. Only did this recently. Will maybe have to purchase a Hobbywing ESC.
Just got mine a couple days ago. I’ve had lots of fun with it so far. I wish the battery lasted longer. I should probably invest in batteries

@@anzevrhunc740 when it’s plugged in the fan will always be on because that truck is so fast that it heats up super quick, it’s so much fun!!!
@@Dusty2424 its a little bit too fast, at 100% power on 3s I usually lose a wheel, had to locktite them down. But overall truck is awesome, I'm suprised how fast that thing goes. Just one more question, ever happen to you that truck won't go in straight line at low throttle? Somehow mine is going to the right and I can't figure out why.
@@anzevrhunc740 I had that happen but I found out that the steering changes a little between low and high speed so you just must have done the trim at high speed but if you trim it at low speed it probably have the trim be off at high speed

The Big Rock review I was referring to in the video was the old blue one I tested. Sorry for any confusion. But yeah the Big Rock is rad. Like to get my hands in one.

The initial lag is the punch limit. You can use a program card to turn the punch up. But it's there to protect the drivetrain.

Best RC truck for the money hands down' and now even better with rubber sealed bearings and beefed up chassis at the hinge pins. cooling fan on motor better shock seals. better clutch. better motor better radio. just an awesome RC truck. make sure to blue loctite the stub axles before use.
The axle shaft is an issue with all of the V3s. There are some RUclips videos about things to do before your first time out, that's one of them. Puting some Locktight on the little screws and possibly swap the screw out with a longer one so it can get a better hold.
Put a wing on the back to keep the body from getting destroyed. Great Video!

I've only recently learned of the Arrma brand and so far quite impressed with what I've seen online. Would the Granite compete against the Maxx, Hoss, or the Stampede? Just trying to compare as close as possible apples to apples. TIA!
the granite is going to be tough to beat at 299 3s ready 50+ mph and looks way better then the hoss inside and out

One of my boys had the same axle shaft issue on his Granite Mega v3. I'm waiting for the Typhon BLX v3 coming out in the next couple of weeks
Nice smooth long jumper and a 5200 120c gives it 15min pure power.
I ordered mine earlier in the week. Also ordered everything needed Motor ESC Heat sink, wheelie bar and links to upgrade my mega to BLX. Not sure what else I need.
Diffs! Get the new 4s or 3s blx diffs. I see people eating up their Mega diffs when you put a brushless sytem in there.

I had a crash today and the back of the body was turned inside out up to the body clips , lol . When the battery stopped some crackhead lady asked me if I needed some gas 😂

I just bought my first arrma from horizon maybe 30 mins ago I put two day delivery on it so hopefully it shows up soon. I got that exact truck except I got the brushed version 550 motor. The granite 4×4 brushed it's the newest one. I was going to get the brushless but it didn't come with the lipo n charger says RTR but it wasn't cause of that.. so I got the brushed one cause it came with everything... So I'll be upgrading within a few weeks it should be fun.. imma paint it black and prob put a old school truck body on it. Castle brushless maybe just really depends

Thought I was going to like this better than the new Traxxas Hoss, especially with the price point. Didn’t like seeing that wheel come off. Not so sure now. I am glad to see that Arma has ditched the previous radio with the SLT3. Will be curious to see if Arma will be equipping that radio in the other RTR’s for the 2021 models?

Seemed good. I think it was my Typhon Mega that I had rocks binding up the steering, but it didn’t happen with the new Granite at the rocky warzone where I shot the action.
Really like this truck can't go wrong with the price and upgraded parts just add powerful batteries with charger it's a win win situation 🙏🙏🙏🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲💪💪💪
Was there any leaking with shocks?
None and my kids have been running it since I started editing this video a few days ago. Still no leaks.
They added o-rings to seal the shocks.

I’ve heard they widened the new version of the Big Rock. I think that was your biggest issue with the Big Rock is that it would flip over as it seemed too narrow, right?
Two other reviewers had their wheel fall of the same way.
I love how high is the body compared to kraton platypus. This is closer look to a monster truck.
