I'm Impressed!! Today we look at the speed of ARRMA Granite 4x4 BLX 3s capable monster truck. We're going to show it on both 2s and 3s so you can see the difference in speed. I'll always want to run it on 3s, but would put in a 2s if I was letting younger kids or inexperienced drivers take the wheel. :)
Quick note: I really like the handling of this truck. It feels very planted and in control at full speed.
THIS IS JUST TO GIVE YOU A BASIC IDEA OF SPEED. I DON'T CLAIM IT TO BE PERFECTLY ACCURATE. SPEEDS MAY BE FASTER OR SLOWER THAN WHAT YOU GET WITH YOURS. IT COULD BE THE GPS SPEED METER ACCURACY OR JUST LITTLE THINGS LIKE BATTERY, FACTORY SETUP, ETC. WE JUST WANT TO SEE IF THE SPEEDS ARE ANYWHERE CLOSE TO WHAT IS CLAIMED BY THE BOX.
I have tested my speedometer against several phone GPS speedometers while driving in my car and looking at the speedometer. Speeds are +/- up to 2mph, but normally only +/- 1mph on most tests.

I fitted the adjustable motor mount, changed to an 18t pinion and managed 61. No overheating issues with the light weight and it still wheelies on demand. Mine is nearly three years old and I'd never part with it, so much fun. 👌

Granite for wheelies, fun and big jumps. Senton is more stable and it is better for racing. (in my opinion)
Your front end is staying down . The newer ones come off the ground even @ full throttle but I’m sure that’s arrmas diff oil 10k or lack of . Haven’t checked

Nice speed run! I used to try to get my redcat blackout as fast as I could on 3s. I think I got 62 or 63 mph! Over 40 things get hard to control! Cool video bro!

If you are experienced enough to drive them with a little control...definitely 3s. My kids? I’d put them on 2S.
Hi there, nice video - Just bought this same model today, ran it a good 20 min. ish the first charge i did. But then the second charge I did, when I gave it full speed it did the same thing as yours in the video when you changed battery to 3S.
I turned it off and on agein and then it worked for a few min agein. Can the battery be damaged?? My 3s is a 3300 mAh so its smaller that your i know that. :)

I think if they say 50+ bare minimum should be 50mph....if they struggle to hit 50 then they should say 40+
@ Toby Muirson 52.6mph was the speed I got on my second run. All stock. Check the video out on my channel. I tore the truck down at the end of the video to prove it had the stock15t pinion in it as well.

It doesn't come with a battery. Like most good quality RC cars you'll need to supply your own batteries and charger.
Hey Tony first I thought you meant you were running 5s the 2s+3s batteries and was wondering if to different discharge rates was a good idea. Then I realized that they were for separate runs. Good speed run video almost ran out of road on the return runs. Seems like a fun truck, especially on charged 3s batteries. Later
Yeah. Pairing those two wouldn’t be good. 😆 but this car has some good speed and control

12-15 minutes is my usually run time. But I don't go full trigger all the time.

Something might be up with your battery Tony as all the speed runs I've seen and mine tested at 49-50. Not a huge difference. Can't wait for the bashing video!

zero ugrades. The 3s BLX version runs that fast out of the box with with a 3s LiPo battery
When you purchase those new batteries do you have to change esc motor? I'm a beginner.
It depends what batteries, this car can hold up to 3s Lipo, it means a battery that has 3 cells. If you want to use battery with 4 cells(4s) you need to change esc but for a begginer I think 2 cell battery is enough to learn some skills.

I think these BLX models need to have the slipper clutch tightened out the box n punch level moved up from 3 default to 5 max, to give it more umf but im sure u were just testing it first to see how it ran out the box
That depends if you want it to straight wheelie off the start. I like my lunch turned down so that it eases into its speed
But I did tighten the slipper all the way down and then backed it off a quarter to half turn.

STEVO D 313 I didn’t say it in the video. I just did it when I unboxed it. I always tighten them up and back them out myself so I know where it is set. It probably was close to where I have it now though.
I was lucky and My slipper was set perfect from factory. I wheelie on demand and can hold it up as long as I want. Then again I'm running a new powerhobby 50c that picks it right up. I couldn't believe how good it wheelies like nothing and stays up all day lol.
Does your Ec5 to Xt60 connector get hot, just curious? Someone told me they’ve melted Xt60 when they push them to hard. I’ve never had a problem 🤷♂️
Hmm. Haven’t run it long enough to know yet. I’m sure it depends on how big the ESC is.

WOW! 3s is fast. I like the 2s better. 30mph is fast. The fastest car I have goes 34 and is fast in front of the house.
I've b een an Arrma fan for about a year now. Went to buy a E-Revo at my Hobby Store and my guy had sold the last one V.1 that morning didn't know when the new get. was coming. So he was like how bout an Arm Talion V.3 brand new 1/8 70+mph. So we got it and pithing 3 days all hopped up, gotta have the speed you know! I smashed it head on at 60+mph into concrete curb. Actually bent the metal chases it hit so hard. 130.00 and change latter got it back a month later I destroyed it again!! Saved the chases this time but the front end was gone. I fixed it this time all RPM Parts 75.00 later back in the game. We went in to the Store in September the Granite was sitting on the counter, had a new Rustler VLX 4x4 on order we saw the Arrma, my wife was like very, very nice. Found out the price 280.00, out the door a sealed in the box new. Only thing changed the EC5's to an XT90 because all my LiPo's are XT90's so it made sense. I paid 420.00 for the Talion greta Christmas present last year, Arrma just knows how to get speed and durability out of what they make. I don't drive Traxxas any more it's all the wifes I love my Arrmas got my eye on the new Senton BLX4x4 right now. Same price and awesomeness. Just don't drive like me!

I just bought this yesterday I think theres a few updates to the stock parts since this videos pretty old but I got a few 11.1v 5200 mah and wow its soo fast I drug a wheelie for over 100 yards then it died hahah love it awesome car

@@CCxRC so sad for some reason the servo shorted out and the car is driving off without hitting the trigger and I only had 2 hours of mild run time no jumping or anything like that. Have you hear of similar issues with them or do you think I got a bad one ? Still love the car just cant get an answer on how to fix it I'm new to the rc world

How do you compare this to the traxxas rustler vxl 4x4?
Its the road, it looks very smooth, the tires dont get the best grip. Try it on a different more grippy road and youll see the 50 mph. 👍
Grip has little to do with top speed. Acceleration does however. If you had a long enough road you could hit top speed with any grip level eventually. The less grip you have the longer a distance you'll need to hit the top speed.
How does a 4 wheel drive pull a wheelie??
my rustler does 48 on 2s. what gearing are you running?
Stock 15T Pinion and 57T Spur. I'm not trying to get the fastest speed out of it, just showing what someone can expect right out of the box.

I recommend this one to everyone. Crazy fun rc
Just be ready to replace the transmitter if it ships with the shitty STX2 one, servo is slow and weak, shocks will leak not long after a few bashes. I recommend swapping to the Dumborc and the reciever kit with or without gyro (crazy range and fast + cheap) and now there is no lag at all. I went ahead and replaced the servo with a Ecoboost (bit stronger and faster + cheap), and shocks from GPM wich costs alittle but i bet they will last longer. Other than that it´s really fast and fun, does wheelies and backflips/frontflips and probably anything you can throw at it with ease. Really easy to work on.

Isn't the recommendation that you run a 35C minimum? The difference between 25 and 35C is quite significant.

Can’t go wrong either way. The big rock has a longer wheelbase and I found it more stable to jump.

So apparently sending it at 40mph,making a wrong turn an smashing into a curb and splitting the chassis in half wasn’t the best idea when opening her up on a straight away Was hilarious.

Varies based on a lot of things. 12-15 is typical

I got 52mph bandito tires with my granite 3s and 49 with stock tires. I have a radiolink controller and receiver with gyro a good combination with this beast. Clocked with a skyrc gsm_015 gnss speed meter. This is one great car.

I never had any ESC problems. But I sold mine to a local guy that saw me running it and asked to buy it.

Shaunn Hartmann yeah. That way you don’t puff or damage your battery. I wasn’t planning to run it long on the 25C, so I went for it.

I recommend the Venom Pro Duo or Quad. Great way to charge multiple batteries at once.

I get that. If you run them long, just be careful of motor and ESC temps if you are running them hard.

Hmmm everyone that has done a speed test on this has gotten higher than 45 mph?
So did I. I got 46 🤣😂 most are getting around 49. There can be variations based on inaccuracy of the GPS based speedometers. Some may read faster than actual and others be slower than actual speed. That’s why I posted in all caps on my description. Just showing that this is fast. I don’t doubt it can do 50mph out of the box. I did test my speedometer against my car speedometers and phone speedometer apps and was always within 1 mph either fast or slow. Not sure if they round up or not at a certain point.
