Really appreciate the glimpse at the two people wearing it! Gives a good idea of the size in relation to each of their height. Also the little Air tag idea was great!
I do feel that this is an improvement on the 2nd version. The actual "floor" of the sling being dedicated to the main compartment is what I'm really missing from the day sling 2. Like Frank B says, I've also never opened that buckle. Really wish they hadn't changed that, esp with Tom's comments about how the new one can randomly disengage. From the organization it doesn't look like I'd personally miss out on the 1.5 liter shrink - dilemmaaaaaa
Also huge props to you all at Pack Hacker for being so quick on the draw with these reviews. I always come to you all first as a reliable and comprehensive reference (here and on the website) and so appreciate all your work.
I don't understand how the unbuckling is a concern when you said yourself that it never happened while you were wearing it. What does it matter if it comes unbuckled while you're "moving it around"? As long as it doesn't come loose and fall off, then I don't see how it's a relevant flaw.
I purchased this recently during Aer's Holiday Sale as an upgrade from my Baboon to the Moon hip pack. I have been loving the added organization and capacity. I can even fit an iPad mini in the back slot. It wears well, likely because of the slanted connectors (that Tom points out). Its a little on the heavy side (even when empty), but the additional organization and comfort of the carry is worth it. Thanks for a great review.
The key ring is like the one on Mystery Ranch. And a new leap from double zip to single zip on the front pouch. Please do a Day Sling 2 v.s. Day Sling 3 Comparison soon!...
Is the capacity of the Day Sling 3 (which the specs say is 3L) REALLY 1.5L less than the Day Sling 2 (which is 4.5 L)? I've got the DS2 and love it but could really use a bit more room. I can't understand why AER would reduce the capacity of the Day Sling 3 from the prior version 2, when the City Sling already fills the need for more minimal carry! It doesn't make sense...
I love how Aer listens to fans so much. I have the original City Sling but all their new products are putting it to shame and making me want to upgrade
tbh the fidlock buckle issue is really a user experience thing, not a design error. There's so many bags with classic buckles so if you want that then get that. I think this bag is great, it has never come undone for me, not once. Aer knows what they're doing.
This is one of the best sling bags you have reviewed lately! Thx for the work you do guys! I'm eager to watch another video of you comparing the best EDC slingbags available today! It will be awesome! 😃👍
Thanks to your detailed reviews, I ended up getting the Aer Day Sling 3 X-Pac! The main reasons were that the X-Pac material is totally waterproof (it rains a lot in the Pacific Northwest), I wanted the option of more storage if needed (there's a gusseted bottom that expands when I need to carry a compact umbrella and folds flat when I'm not), and the outside of the bag has 3 small loops that I can hang a cute keychain (for personalization to break up all the black color) and strong S-biner clip (to hang my hat in the summer). I also liked that the positioning of the straps means I can wear it on either shoulder if one gets tired. I am really liking it so far!
Thanks for the review. I’ve got the Bellroy Mini Sling but it’s very small. The Aer Day Sling 3 is only half a litre larger but it looks so much more roomier than the Bellroy Mini Sling. I’ve been considering the new Bellroy 6L Venture or Aer Day Sling 3 Max but 6L is way more space than I need. Will you be reviewing the new 6L Venture sling?
@@greg7371 I chose the Day Sling 3 and I am really happy with it. It’s got so much more accessible space and organisation than the Bellroy Mini Sling and I find it more comfortable.
@@jesseallen4184 Hannn really interesting. My heart was bouncing betwenn Aer City Sling 2 and Bellroy Sling Mini, but i relized that none of them could take my notebook (A5 format). And the Bellroy Sling (larger) was a little too big for me. I still want something compact or quite compact. Then I made my way here and just saw ur comment ^^
I have the xpac version of this and I should warn anyone looking to buy this sling pack, the lamination of the aqua guard zipper can and will peel off depending on your usage and how much stuff you put inside. Mine unfortunately peeled off after a year of use which was disappointing, it doesn't take away how good the pack is though, fits a lot of things including a small tablet/e-reader.
Anyone recommend best size water bottle to fit in main compartment? I think I saw a photo with a Kanpai Bottle 350ml in it, looked like it wouldnt be possible for anything much bigger - which would be relatively small - was hoping for maybe something closer to 500ml.
Would be great if the strap was detachable and comes with an additional carry handle/loop, so it could be used as an organizer when you don't need it to be carried
Great view! Looking to buy one but I think I will want to replace the Fidlock fastener with something more secure. Do you happen to know the width of the shoulder strap? Thanks.
Thanks for the review! Based on the side-by-side of 2 people wearing the sling, it doesn't look like it stays close to the person's back. Is this just based on tightness of the strap?
I’ve had trouble with the length adjustment; when I move it around the strap gradually becomes looser and looser… has anyone else experienced that and any advice to keep the length the of the strap firmly in place?
Hi do you experience any delamination with X Pac material in general? Any way to prevent or minimize it? Also, I am from Malaysia where it is sunny throughout the year. Does UV deteriorate the X Pac material? Thanks in advance
A BIG REGRET! I love your reviews and I listen closely to Tom statement regarding the magnetic closure. I have had the closure on my bag open a minimum of four times when wearing it. This is very disheartening because I really love the bag, but I am beyond the return date. My only choice is to ask for a replacement in line with the warranty. I was a bit skeptical about my initial purchase because of this closure issue that I’ve heard a couple of other folks talk about. I so regret my purchase. I now use a Bellroy Venture sling instead.
@@mr_red13 I purchased the Venture 9 L sling. I bought it in the bronze color and it’s beautiful, but a bit heavier than I had imagined. I just came back from a 15 day trip with the new travel pack 3. It comes with fidlock on compression straps and they never came undone. And i was yanking in that bag getting it outta cramped overhead storage. They only came undone when i was attempting to release compression straps. At first i didn't like it, but then i saw it as a convenience. I could get into main compartment easier. I was skeptical too, but they done the job with flying colors
It's a nice bag but imho it's ruined by the belt strap. It's a hard material and I hope it gets softer over time. I had the city sling and I don't remember it having this hard material for the belt.
I don't know why they cheap out on this, since Day Sling 2 had a smoother belt, same as City Slings. It just feels out of place with the rest of their lineup which has smooth seatbelt quality. Next iteration should just give us removable straps so everyone can be happy with it.
