My first world problem: I have the Aer City Sling 2 and I was thinking about upgrading to a sling that holds a little more, this one really fits the criterias, but it won't fit my 12.9" iPad Pro, so whenever I need to bring my iPad, I'd still need a backpack since a 13" compatible sling seems too big again...yeah, like I said, major first world problem...
I’m looking for a sling bag to carry a hardcover cover, 400 pages usually plus phones, keys, wallet. Not sure if this is what I want. It seems too big and the smaller version seems too small.
If carrying a camera and lens, I would go for the Peak Design sling. It has better structure and padding to protect a camera. I think this Day Sling has a different use case.
personally I prefer the aesthetic of aer bags. peak looks too formal or just like a camera bag, whereas a bag like day sling is just a bag for anything and much more durable. just my opinion
Great review! We're thinking of picking up the Day Sling 3 Max to use as a crossbody bag. Amy's been traveling with the Lululemon Festival fanny pack and thinking of upgrading to this one to hold her 11" tablet.
Looks like a trying hard interchangeable lens camera sling bag for me. Although it looks stellar for a Nintendo Swtich/tablet carry , a fixed lens camera, snack, EDC items and what nots.
I'm curious: Is the strap long enough to wear it with strap cross-body, but still have the bag itself hang on your side at roughly hip level? For reference I'm 5' 7" and ~145 lbs.
That strap looks exceptionally long and I would guess that you could very easily wear as a cross body even if you were 6'2 and over 200lbs like myself. Peace and love
You will save some weight, and it’s a different material with a different set of characteristics! Our Best Material For Backpacks video talks about both fabrics 😃 ruclips.net/video/ZqKzlHUD6NY/видео.html -Eric
It can! Thats exactly what I use it for. Its a tight fit at first, but the bag stretched out a bit over a few months and the case can go in and out pretty easily now. Still have room for battery pack, charger, headphones etc as well.
Great video. I’ve got the Bellroy Mini Sling but I’m finding it too small now. I was about to purchase the new Bellroy 6L Venture but this new Aer sling looks great. Any chance you guys are going to review the Bellroy 6L venture?
It has no issue with an 11” tablet, and the keyboard should be okay, too, but there may not be anywhere to place it that is protected from your other gear. It has a ton of room but not a ton of organization! -Eric
Thanks for the review. I have been looking at an EDC sling that could hold phone, battery, x100v, WCL adapter, sunglasses, mask, etc. Most bags for cameras are bigger than I want. While I don’t know that I need the 50 pockets these have, it still feels like a good option. Any other recommendations for that use case? Right now leaning towards the regular version of this sling.
Check out our Bellroy Venture comparison video we just released; all three would be excellent choices! Thanks for watching, Chris 😃 ruclips.net/video/Y8PlAIzaZmc/видео.html -Eric
So I’m debating between this or the peak design 6l. I don’t carry cameras per say but I do mobile photography and have small lenses and a shift pro grip to place my phone in while taking picture.
@@PackHacker2 I went with the day sling max 3 xpac. Going to try it out. The peak design looked like a tighter fit when thinking about adding iPad with keyboard.
I see this more as a crossbody bag than as a sling. For me slings are smaller bags you use to carry your wallet, phone and stuff you'd carry in your pockets but nothing more. This Aer bag has more capacity, it's bulky and it's more similar imo to the Peak Design sling (which I also find too big to be a sling lol!)
@kilab33z oh woah, that sounds like almost exactly what I'd like to carry for flights. Do you find the bag slides around your body when fully loaded, or does it stay in place? I saw some people saying the Aer slings tend to slip around quite a bit which has me wary. Thanks for the info!
As a long time fan and subscriber of Pack Hacker I have always enjoyed the reviews on youtube and the Pack Hacker website. Until this one, I'm sorry to say. This review did not go thru the entire bag. Eric seemed to just skim over it. The front pocket was never even opened. The backside of the sling was not covered. The inside zipper pocket was not shown or examined. The gear in the sling did not show use of the bags features and capabilities. The review seemed like the sling was not actually used for two weeks. This video was not up to Pack Hacker standards. I am very disappointed. I watched Tom's review of the smaller Aer Sling 3 before this (which was great, thank you), he covered the sling completely. Tom sets the standards for Pack Hacker videos. Eric's review was way below par for Pack Hacker. Almost 18 minutes of screen time and all we get is; "IT'S JUST LIKE THE LITTLE SLING, BUT BIGGER". I'm so disappointed😔.
@@praxis-cat870 Covered: deal with (a subject) by describing or analyzing its most important aspects or events. Big difference between covered and open & unzipped. The 2 week reviews are always in depth and show practical use. This review did not. It appeared to me that Eric did not use this sling much at all. He tossed a couple big items in and did not appear to to put much effort into the review. I'm sticking with my opinion that this review was well below Pack Hacker standards. I have owned (and still own) several Aer products. I like the XL Sling and would consider buying one. But, not until I can watch a review that fully COVERS the sling. This review did not adequately or thoroughly cover this Aer Sling XL. Sorry Cat.
@@tams805 You said that. "I'm not sure what you're on about". Then you said. "I skipped ahead both those parts". I am totally unsure what you are trying to convey. So here is my suggestion: Watch Tom's review of the smaller Aer Sling 3 (it was in depth and completely covered the sling with pros and cons). Then watch Eric's review on the larger sling (in its entirety). Then compare the two videos and read my comments. I believe that you will discover exactly what I am on about. Eric did not convince me that he actually used the sling for two weeks as a sling bag. He put a few big items in it for the weekend and tossed it in the car. That is not an in depth review in any way shape or form. A good review has realistic pro and cons, derived from daily usage over a period of time. Eric's review was weak in this area. Therefore I sticking with my original comment that this video was not up to the Pack Hacker standard. I'm not trying to be mean. I was disappointed.

You can’t rely on the liter capacity stated by the vendor.

Great video, could I fit a 32oz Hydro flask wide mouth in this sling?

Great review; especially bringing in the bellroy lite for comparison.

Love ur review
Can u compare this with alpaka bravo x Sling v2? Its gonna interesting bcs those two have similar size in litres (6 litres)
how would you compare this to a codeofbell annex liner?
Will this fit a 14oz insulated tumbler?
Can this fit a water flask?
Great review! What headphones are those?
18oz yeti rambler fit ?
does it fit an Ipad Mini?
Wonder if it can fit steam deck with case. Hmm

That spigen tough armor case is the jam isnt it? I love mine!
I’ve been digging this one for a while! 😃🤙

There's the Bellroy 9L as well, which may well be more like this. And a 10L camera version coming out 'soon'.
Will the AirPods Max fit in this with the 11” iPad Pro and magic keyboard?

Hi Pack Hacker, can you do a review on the Black Ember Grip Sling please?
Thanks for the suggestion! I’ll pass it along.

How could the Bellboy be 7L and Aer 6L and it's even bigger than the Bellboy Venture 9L....I don't understand how they measure these!!

Peak design is also one to consider if want to carry a camera.
Will it fit a Steam Deck?
We don’t have a Steam Deck on hand, but it fits a Nintendo Switch with room to spare!

So I’m debating between this or the peak design 6l. I don’t carry cameras per say but I do mobile photography and have small lenses and a shift pro grip to place my phone in while taking picture.
Both slings will have more than enough room for most mobile photography kits! You might measure your grip to ensure it will fit inside, though.

Single strap bag you can wear on the front is a Sling bag. Simple.
It’s in between a messenger bag and a small sling.
Could this fit Airpod Pro Max + iPad Pro 11" w/ a keyboard case? Maybe a nice big portable battery along with it? :o

curious to see if you can fit in a 13 inch macbook air into it.
You can’t man.
Not a chance!

Does anyone know whether this would work as a crossbody for someone with big boobs?

Backside of the sling is covered and its pocket is opened at 6:57. Front pocket is opened at 8:50. Internal zipper pocket is opened at 13:06.
