Would love to see these reviews add a segment where you do a full load out of typical items one would carry in the specific scenario. Adding that passport in there provided so much value as it gave a sense of relative size. Without that, can’t really tell how big these are
Thanks for the review. Just one feedback - I think if you can wear a lighter colour shirt, it will help us see how the bag sits much easier! ☺️ black on black kinda takes away the value of your review.
Great review! Using a passport really helped get a sense of dimensions for some of the pockets. While most videos reference some common digital gear, like a Nintendo switch, which has sold ~122M units, Kindle unit sales are ~500M - much more prevalent, so it would be helpful to see how well those can be accommodated within the slings. It would also be helpful to see how common 'analog' gear would fit. For example: Traveler's Company notebooks standard (B6), Leuchtturm1917 A6, or generically, A5 notebooks, water bottles (16-24oz), a small travel umbrella, etc...
That’s an interesting note on the ability of the Aer Day Sling to be set up for still having a backpack. Major point for me I think-you have given me something to look at in my product comparisons.
My Day Sling 3 XPAC should be here Friday! It's my first sling, excited for it to arrive. Thanks for the review and this comparison, made it a lot easier to make a decision. Will be using this for EDC and travel. May have to pair it up with the Aer Travel Pack 3 Small. Aer seems to put out solid products.
@@PackHacker2 So I've had the sling for a pretty good amount of time now. It has been very good to me. It has been my EDC for all sorts of situations. It handles daddy duties with ease while also still providing pocket relief and plus some. I can't believe I've gone this long without a sling. I have an upcoming domestic flight and have gone ahead to see how the passports and licenses fit in the pocket closest to the body and it fits perfectly. You can definitely fit boarding passes in there along with some emergency cash if needed and any other sort of documents. I mainly keep my phone and keys in the front. Nothing else goes in there. For my first sling, I'm impressed. I'm eyeing the City Sling 2 in XPAC. I think these two slings could take care of everything I need. All I need now is a nice EDC backpack. Any recommendations? I've been eyeing Aer, Bellroy, and Black Ember. This would double as a EDC and Travel bag. Thanks for your reviews! I genuinely enjoy everyone of them even if the product isn't something I'm going to buy.
@@RonnieRides203 Hey! If you don’t mind me asking, how does the XPac feel? Is it still quite thick and durable feeling? I have another bag in a similar material but it’s so thin and flimsy it feels like it would rip very easily. Also, is the XPac thin/flimsy to the point where it feels like the bag isn’t holding shape if heavier items, such as a tablet or water bottle, are inside? I heard that XPac is much more water resistant compared to the Ballistic Nylon - any experience with the rain? These are my main questions in deciding which material to get and I haven’t seen a video which covers these aspects!
I have had the city sling 2 for a while now and have traveled all over with it for 100s of hours and also west a back back as well and never once Been bothered or even noticed the did lock while wearing under back pack
The City Sling looks better with the centered zipper, but it looks like the Day Sling is more comfortable with the angled strap attachment and the buckle easily accessible and not on your back when travelling. Thanks for the review, made up my mind.
Thanks for making this comparison video showing the internal space of these two slings. I was about to purchase the City Sling 2 but did not like the internal layout as it will barely fit my mirrorless camera while the Day Sling 2 is using duraflex buckles which i dislike as it bulky and get in the way. By changing to the new magnetic fidlock buckle, the Day Sling 3 tick all my needs and wants on a EDC sling so I immediately purchase the XPAC version after watching this video.
Anyone else get super confused by the left/right sling being different in top-down shot vs head-on shot? Don’t know a good way to film that, I just got super confused and had to watch the vid multiple times to decide which I wanted. Thanks a bunch though, getting the day sling 🙏
Aer day sling 3. No contest. I have both (ds3 and cs2). And i also have day sling max because i love day sling alot. For me..comfort wise daysling is more to my liking. Perfect sling.
City sling 2 is the best EDC for real. So glad it fits a iPad Mini 6 as well. Get the XPAC you will want the orange lining and waterproofing zipper which is very tight to open (makes it more theft proof!)
Thank you for answering the specific question I've been wondering about! I'm comparing these to the new Bellroy Venture Sling 2.5L since they all seem to offer more space and organization in a compact/minimalist form.
I just ordered it too,so we’ll get it the same time 🤣🤣🥳🥳🥳 I’ve also got the City sling 2 X- PAC Coming as well 👍 But I think the day sling 3 will win 🥇 and I’ll have a spare sling 🤣🤣🤣👍👍👍
Hey Todd! That's the Proof 72-Hour Merino Sweater Hoodie. I'll drop a link below. - Austin packhacker.com/travel-gear/proof/72-hour-merino-sweater-hoodie/
Coming from a Day Sling 2 XPAC which was my go-to sling since it came out, I just got my Day Sling 3 XPAC yesterday and the Bellroy Venture 6L today. I ordered both because I couldn't decide. Still not sure which one I like better. The Venture is more aesthetically pleasing but the XPAC material on the Day 3 is very nice.
Are the straps on the City 2 adjustable enough to offset the buckle from the center so that the buckle won't be in the middle of your back when worn together with a backpack?
Seen a few videos of the aer day sling 3 and nobody shows if it can fit Nintendo switch or iPad mini. It helps to see if we can users can make use of it
I just bought the Day Sling 3 and it fits a Nintendo Switch snug in the pocket closest to your body. Gotta wiggle it in a bit but it fits! If you have grips on your Switch then it’ll fit right in the main compartment with no problem. Just have to sacrifice some space though. Hope this helps!
I own both of these, but one generation older in both cases. I bought the Day Sling 2 after the City Sling 1, but honestly I can’t choose between them. I plan to sell the City Sling 1, but haven’t quite been able to do so just yet. The compression of the City is great, and oddly it feels like it almost holds more even though it’s smaller. Of course that may be a function of Al, the extra crap I stuffed in the Day when I got it because it’s bigger, lol.
Same premise here pal. And I totally agree with your findings. I tried to stuff both to the max, consecutively with the same setup. Both could hold my extended edc - a small water bottle and a pocketable windbreaker. The City Sling 2 looked hella thicc though. Compared to Day Sling 1, I liked the finish of the City Sling 2 way better, it feels more premium. Especially in the interior department. But the strap placement of Day Sling seemed a killer feature at first, allowing to hold it at a waist rather than chest. Ultimately I went with the Day Sling 2 thanks to its practicality. It was quite handy during all-day outs while traveling. But practically it turned out I would rather prefer the premium finish of the City Sling 2 to the aforementioned. The newest lineup seems promising though. However, I feel like Aer low to med-sized carry looks spacier than it already is due to front panel shape. Day Sling 3 Max looks nice, anyway.
I went DS3 as well! I feel the big difference is whether you will need to carry a tablet or you want the bag to be closer to a pouch. The CS2 I see as more of a bag you put in another when traveling and then pop out for day life. The DS3 I see more as a bag you would always have on and don’t want the pouch function as the straps tuck away on the CS2. I will probably get both once I see a CS3…I have a problem and need all the bags. Lol.
@@PackHacker2 thanks Eric, I'm not entirely sure if your being sarcastic. I'm aware that things fitting inside of things is dependent on the size of things.
