I've been using sling bags for years. I've tried a ton of budget bags from Amazon, but now I typically use my KP Sling, which I backed on Kickstarter years ago. It's small, but I manage to fit quite a bit in it. It's definitely more of an every day carry bag than a travel bag, but it makes a good addition to a main bag/backpack. www.keeppursuing.com/products/sling-bag
I just returned from a 2 week trip of plains, trains, and buses with only the GoRuck GR2 and Aer Day Sling 2. I loved the freedom of not dragging my old roller bag around crowds and cobblestone roads, having my hands free, and still having instant access to travel essentials (wallet, passport, headphones, etc). Thanks for the recommendations!
When I first started carrying a shoulder bag, I wondered how I ever did without one. After some years, I got into slings, and haven't looked back. The bellroy sling has been my EDC for this whole year so far, and prior to that, I used the Crumpler LLA Waist Pack, the Incase Sidebag (a bit too small) and the Porter Yoshida Tanker waist bag. Slings are so useful.
@@Riverpeth I haven't seen a Paperwhite in person, but it might be a bit too wide for the Bellroy sling. The standard Bellroy isn't very deep, but they make a Venture Sling which is larger and will probably take a Paperwhite. You'd want to confirm this with measurements at least.
I personally use a sling bag by Ellehammer. Whenever I go on a weekend away, it's more than spacious enough to house spare underwear, a t-shirt, my charge cable for my phone, and my kindle with a separate slot specifically for tablets of 9" or less. I house my cable(s) in the outer zip compartment. Nice and easy. Any toiletries I need can be bought in travel size on the other end of my journey.
If anyone is after something on a budget - check out the Waterfly Sling bags. I have the peak design ect but still gravitate towards the waterfly. It's a great budget sling.
I have the Patagonia Atom 8L which I had customised in Cambodia. I had a waterproof base stitched to the bottom, a red and yellow sarong stitched into the side (now looks like a German 🇩🇪 flag) and have a water bottle attachment clipped on and have a waterproof gadget bag hidden in the 'weird back kinda slot' near the strap harnesses. I love it. Peace 🔥🦋💞
Love the overview guys, sad to see it didn’t make the list but I myself just purchased the Osprey Daylite Sling a few days ago after watching your video review of it. I’m finding the size to be perfect for my EDC stuff while biking around the city, and at 35 bucks I think it’s a great budget option. Once I got over the ‘I’m carrying a purse around’ vibe I think slings are too useful to be ignored
The best sling pack that I've used to for traveling international is The SwissGear Sling Bag. Yes perfect for guys. I can fit a 11 inch laptop. Plus everything else I need including a powerbank extra clothes and a water bottle.
I went over this last week ad ended up getting the DSPTCH Dyneema Sling Bag which I think is perfect for my needs. Small, light, inconspicuous and tough
I travel about once a month internationally, especially when going to a place like Japan, I use a long wallet and need to have my passport on me and i need a waterproof sling, but will want minimal design. So far my favorite is the Tomtoc (x-pac). Great stuff on this video.
I have two of the Atom slings. The older versions of this sling have anextra strap that goes around your hips, which I find particularly useful while biking.
I dig the TB most. I get past the purse vibe by keeping it close to body and typically flipped around the front of my chest. Thanks for the videos I appreciate y’all
I am using the Pro Camera Sling Bag by Instinct as my everyday bag and camera bag, fitting my Sony A7 with 1 small and 1 medium lens. Got it from their Kickstarter campaign. They have done such a great job on the materials and construction.
Thanks! The Peak Design Everyday Sling got me interested. I wasn't even looking for something to hold my camera, I just wanna be able to have a notebook on me so I'm not looking at my phone all the time to take notes. But that's a win win.
Very well prepared review that was most informative. Tough category to narrow down to 10 but you did well and had plenty of options to consider. Just became a subscriber and looking forward to more. I'll be viewing past videos over the next few weeks.
Hey Vic, glad to hear the ALPAKA gear is working so well for you! 🙌 You can check out all of the ALPAKA gear we've had our hands on here: packhacker.com/travel-gear/alpaka/ - Rebecca
one issue i have is if the sling bag is heavy for example you put a camera and power bank, as the weight is on one shoulder, end of the day the shoulder can can very sore. may need to get a shoulder pad for it.
The 2L Fjallraven Kanken is efficiently boxy and worth consideration . Their 1.5L High Country isn't as efficient due the more conventional taperd shape BUT it doesn't jut out as much. In PacSafe I prefer the smaller 2L and 4L models.
I have a small sling made by Ful and usually place knick knacks while traveling such as headphones and camera batteries. I also have a medium sized sling for carrying more stuff. Lastly I have a sling backpack for travels to carry my laptop/tablet and extra clothing. The only thing I don't place in my slings is my wallet which I place in my pocket in case the bags are stolen.
I love peak design. I own some of their gear and love the thought process they put into it. The travel line and everyday backpacks are beautiful. But I just can’t get behind the look of their sling. It just looks bulky in my opinion. I am personally looking into chrome industries niko camera bag. In terms of look, it seems a lot more modern in my opinion. But to each their own. I just wanted to chime in because I kinda want to love peak designs sling but can’t do it lol
Nice. I personally wont put this by itself on a conveyor belt when going through the TSA checkpoint as it's easy for someone to grab and walk away. I have a small one I stuff in my backpack or carry on luggage. The pac safe is nice and good if you are in crowded urban areas such as NYC Barcelona Rome Medellin etc. Ive been in all 4 and this is something I will look into especially with the non cut strap.
Thanks for another excellent review, PH! Have you ever reviewed the 'Keep Pursuing' sling? I have had one for a couple of years now and its pretty much the same as when new, very comfy to carry minimal things (like a phone, wallet, keys and little stuff), and looks great. I think you can't get these anymore though so maybe thats why it didn't make the cut?
I really like sling bags and they are excellent for anyone who lives in metropolitan or something to get to quickly and a world of conscience don't make it heavy or it will hurt your shoulder 😊
Great video! 🎥 Do you have any recommendations for a bag similar to the Patagonia Atom Sling that also has space for a water bottle? I love the design, but I usually carry sling bags on my left shoulder. Unfortunately, as you mentioned, this one can’t switch sides. 😕 Thanks! 🙌
I love my Arc’teryx Maka 2 (I believe the name has now changed to “Mantis”)! It fits all of my essentials, plus has room for an iPad, spare charger, and keyboard.
I do travel with a sling and a backpack...I have slings from Pantagonia, MR, Peak Designs and Tom Bihn....The REI Trail 5 kills them all and will hold a small water bottle. Same materials and craftsmanship way cheaper too!
Hey Onno! We'd love to reach out to you, if you could email me on rebecca@packhacker.com or let me know the best way to get in touch with you that would be great. Hopefully speak soon! Best, Rebecca
Great video, with so many to chose from its difficult to make a decision! i like the look of the Are Day Sling 2 but again difficult to know if it will be big enough!
I'm looking into a simple small sling because I wear a sweater to have extra pockets to carry my wallet, keys, ear buds and utility knife in but because of how hot it's getting and how it makes my sweater hang low I want to just put all those in a sling and not my pockets either bc my shorts will start to hang low
It would be interesting to see a review on the Pacsafe Vibe 150 Anti-Theft Cross Body Pack and whether the security features are convenient to use or a hassle
How come the Aer City Sling receive a higher score than the Day Sling 2, and didn't get into the list, while having similar use cases? I was wondering because I just bought the City Sling :) Anyways, love your content, this channel really inspired me to go onebag for my next trip!
I had the Day Sling 2 and still having city sling. I kinda miss the Day sling 2 for the capacity it carries. The city sling feels like a brick when its packed out. I'm looking at code of bell x-pod now but it's too damn expensive
I really like some of the features of the patagonia sling - for ex: the addition of external straps - but hate that it's only for the right shoulder (lefty). Is there another sling that you'd rec that has those features?
In my opinion Hazard 4 has the best sling bags. I added a waist belt to mine and I can wear it multiple ways. There a little pricey but you get what you pay for
I personally think that a decently sized lightweight waist bag is more suitable for taking flights and can be carried as a sling bag as well. When you actually go walking around town, just stuff a packable backpack in it for extra carry space if needed. The made-in-China water resistant waist bag I use is pretty similar to the CabinZero Hip Pack 2L, just less padded and probably lighter. Carries my passport, wallet, mobile phone, powerbank, 3-in-1 short charging cable, bluetooth earphones with charging dock x2, rechargeable handheld mini fan, buff, wet wipes 10's, handsanitizer 25ml, and mini carabiner for attaching my foldable backpack. All that stuff happens to spread out and layer in nicely so the waist bag appears quite flat and doesn't bulge up too much and draw attention. Remember to put the various items in ziploc bags to keep them waterproofed, especially your passport.
LOL this is new to me, Ive never seen anyone carry a sling bag in Canada so idk where theyre exactly popular. I came across this type of bag bc its featured in Animal crossing New horizons that came out in the last fee month! LOL and i said to myself ' I love the look of this! where the hell do i buy this type of bag??so i went online to my favourite Canadian retailer and i found one! its rhe only one of its kind on the site so i bought it! (made by hershel) & was so worried it would be too small but its not, its a very decent size!. Its the kind that is sideways tho, and loooks like a mini backpack
Loving this channel. So, I'm looking for ideas from the community. What I want / need is a man bag / cross shoulder / messenger bag, that can be rolled up and stored during transit. When I get to a destination, I just prefer doing my wonderings with everything I need in a messenger type bag rather than a sling. Personal choice. Any suggestions are welcome. Many thanks.
What's the max size you consider a sling bag? I like my Cannae Optio, that comes in at a whopping 14l, because I can fit my 13in laptop in it. I can still dump stuff in the room and use it for daily carry out and about.
I bought a TomTok sling and it's super good. Also it's not too bad in terms of price. Like it's around $40 American and it carries everything in my pockets+my headphones or switch. I'd give it a look cause I think it's a great budget sling...well budget compared to the normal $75 of most good slings.
After a lot of thought recently I’m considering a bag like these. I don’t want to carry a camel pack or day pack for my 2-7 mile hikes because they just make my back sweat.

just ordered the Herschel Heritage shoulder bag, what I like the sling bag is that I can carry more than using my pocket and making pants or short sag which is a bummer
I wish more slings would add theft resistant zippers/pockets, since it's worn on your back. Something similar to pacsafe, maybe? Edit: Didn't know pacsafe would make the list…

Hi Pack Hacker, would like to ask you if you could recommend a EDC sling Bag, that can fit a 11” iPad Pro but at the same time still gives you that minimalist feeling. As I only bring my keys, wallet, a pen, perfume, and sanitizer with me. I read about your review on Alpaka Alpha Sling Bag and we had the same thoughts, its too big for me. So if you could suggest anything else it would be a great help! Thanks! PS. I always need to bring my tablet with me as Im studying medicine and need to read alot almost everyday. So my free time is alotted to that.
could you have a look at the Nike Sportswear Essentials Hip Pack the one with the orange strap one the front zipper to be more specific, its my edc sling bag, i havent seen any channels do a reviwe on it and i think its such a good looking bag
I really love the AER day sling. My only complaint is that it is just a little long to fit horizontally in the new everyday zip 20L backpack. I fold both origami panels and slide it vertically along one side. My other small complaint is I was hoping it could hold the new OSMO Mobile 3. It fits, but without being able to throw in the mini Manfroto pixi tripod, Glif adaptor, or Moment lens.
thanks i have been wanting something to carry my dji om4 and a few moment lenses..... and i have been struggling finding something that is small but not too small or too large..... AER was one I was considering. Also thinking about peak design 3l
I really like the 3L, but it seems still too big or… bulging for what I am doing. I’m either on a OneWheel or trekking off somewhere. In a couple of hiking vlogs I have on my RUclips channel I have the Aer slung over my shoulder. In it I can hold the new Om 4, and hold the Rode wireless go 2 mics, cables I need for the mics and phone to recharge, cold shoe adapter that attaches around the Om 4 grip and the mini tripod that now comes with it. Plus I just bought a great little pouch from Moment that holds two Moment lens (Wide and Tele). I can Velcro that around the thick Aer strap for quick access and save some space in the sling. It’s been a perfect tiny set up for the odd misadventures I’ve been having over the last 7 months. The sling has been fantastic for what I’m doing. I only carry a bigger bag when I need to carry water🙃
Hi there. I am looking for a compact sling bag to carry my Nikon D750+Tamron 1530, passport, phone and a camera rain coat. However, which one you will recommend? The peakdesign 6L seem too tight though
I just got mine today after ordering it 4 months ago. No instructions so I was looking for the know how to set the lock. Also where to get teh battery pack?
Do you travel with a sling bag?
Pack Hacker yep cob x-pod or trakke bum bag v1
I travel with the Chrome Kadet sling.
Never went anywhere without it. I use PD 5L Sling
I personally do not!
I like that you show them while wearing them
When I first started carrying a shoulder bag, I wondered how I ever did without one.
The Belloroy sling is absolutly stunning I ordered one this week!
Do you happen to know if they fit a Kindle Paperwhite?
@@Riverpeth I haven't seen a Paperwhite in person, but it might be a bit too wide for the Bellroy sling. The standard Bellroy isn't very deep, but they make a Venture Sling which is larger and will probably take a Paperwhite. You'd want to confirm this with measurements at least.
I am personally a fan of sling bags. They are stylish, but casual. Good video!
Thanks for the reviews! Just picked up the Aer Day 2 and kind of excited to put it to the test.
I've had the pacsafe one in blue for 2 years or so. It's amazing!
The magic sentence here for me was “Fits a Nintendo Switch”
I was in the middle of typing just that until I saw your comment; have a like instead.
When’s fr
When’s fr x
I'm lookin for one that fits a xbox series s
But sadly I don't think such a thing exists
I have two of the Atom slings. The older versions of this sling have anextra strap that goes around your hips, which I find particularly useful while biking.
I got 3 recently that I didn’t use yet .. Patagonia waist bag 5l .. north face shoulder bag .. and Fjallraven kanken sling
I purchased a Herschel Seventeen Hip Pack the other day. It's LIFE CHANGING!! It also looks really cool (in my personal opinion).
Thanks for the suggestion, Stefanie! 😃

I dig the TB most. I get past the purse vibe by keeping it close to body and typically flipped around the front of my chest. Thanks for the videos I appreciate y’all
Great video... i live in Hong Kong and only use sling bags.... for me can't be beaten.I have 7 slings for different uses...
I am using the Pro Camera Sling Bag by Instinct as my everyday bag and camera bag, fitting my Sony A7 with 1 small and 1 medium lens. Got it from their Kickstarter campaign. They have done such a great job on the materials and construction.
I'm curious - how it is any different from the peak design sling 3L? it looks like the same design...just less heavy materials
Thanks! The Peak Design Everyday Sling got me interested. I wasn't even looking for something to hold my camera, I just wanna be able to have a notebook on me so I'm not looking at my phone all the time to take notes. But that's a win win.
I remember the original Gap Sling Bag from the early 2000's that tend came and went but they are finally coming back.
I have my sling back loaded with my EDC even at home during quarantine. It's just awesome always knowing where my phone, wallet and keys are.!
Digging this level of organization, Flabian! What a great way to keep your gear in check, even when you're at home. 😊🙌
- Rebecca
I don’t care if people hate them. I’m glad they’re popular now. They’re so handy.
Guys hate them because they’re too insecure to wear them
I got the Chrome industries Kadet as my EDC it's been really extremely versatile although not much going on as far as organization
Glad the Kadet is working well for you, Daiso. Thanks for sharing! 😊
- Rebecca

Based on your review I got the AER and I am still adapting to it. High quality and good for EDC items.

Loving the unbound merino travel hoodie! 😉👍👌

@@PackHacker you've got mail! ;)
Great video, with so many to chose from its difficult to make a decision! i like the look of the Are Day Sling 2 but again difficult to know if it will be big enough!
The Tom Bihn one is styled too much like a purse for my taste. I have the aer day sling 2.
Great video you can always add a couple more burritos in the secret compartment also
I was surprised to not see the Waterfield Sutter Tech Sling. I've been wanting one of those for a while.
What's the point in the AER having 1680 nylon? It's obvious not going to carry much weight, so it's just unnecessary heavy.
Sooo much better than most Top 10 videos on RUclips. Though the robotic voice was distinctly more human. *~_o*

As a pokemong go player sling bags are a must!

It would be interesting to see a review on the Pacsafe Vibe 150 Anti-Theft Cross Body Pack and whether the security features are convenient to use or a hassle
Liked the number 1

would city sling hold a dji om4 and a few moment lenses?
Which sling do you recommend that fits a gopro attached to a shorty and other basic essentials: phone, wallet etc.?
I really like some of the features of the patagonia sling - for ex: the addition of external straps - but hate that it's only for the right shoulder (lefty). Is there another sling that you'd rec that has those features?
We need an updated video!! Part 2!!!!!!❤
Would love to see a review of some Master-Piece bags! Particularly the Lightening or Hunter waist bag
I’ve been waiting for this video for so long
Can you do a review on the black ember sling? If you have already, my bad.

In my opinion Hazard 4 has the best sling bags. I added a waist belt to mine and I can wear it multiple ways. There a little pricey but you get what you pay for

The made-in-China water resistant waist bag I use is pretty similar to the CabinZero Hip Pack 2L, just less padded and probably lighter.
Hey guys have you ever know about hyper gear? They make good stuff for water resist packing
I bought a TomTok sling and it's super good. Also it's not too bad in terms of price. Like it's around $40 American and it carries everything in my pockets+my headphones or switch. I'd give it a look cause I think it's a great budget sling...well budget compared to the normal $75 of most good slings.
Thanks for the suggestion 😃 I’ll pass it along!

After a lot of thought recently I’m considering a bag like these. I don’t want to carry a camel pack or day pack for my 2-7 mile hikes because they just make my back sweat.

You should check Deuter Futura. Air Comfort system make the bag not in direct contact with back
great coverage of the full spectrum of different options - would have loved to see a little more real world use -like what is it like when you need to stuff a light windbreaker into it , or gloves ,snacks etc

Have you reviewed the TUMI Bozeman sling bag yet? I want to get your opinion on it and TUMI sling or EDC bags in general. Thank you!
Ronald - we have not! I'll pass it along to our editor for consideration.

just ordered the Herschel Heritage shoulder bag, what I like the sling bag is that I can carry more than using my pocket and making pants or short sag which is a bummer
Thanks for watching! We hope you like your new bag 😃

I wish more slings would add theft resistant zippers/pockets, since it's worn on your back. Something similar to pacsafe, maybe?
Edit: Didn't know pacsafe would make the list…
Thank you for another great review. Where would you put the Fjallraven Ulvo Medium Pack in this?

Love from India 😍
Thanks 😊
could you have a look at the Nike Sportswear Essentials Hip Pack
the one with the orange strap one the front zipper to be more specific, its my edc sling bag, i havent seen any channels do a reviwe on it and i think its such a good looking bag
Personally I’m a huge ToM Bihn fan, but a few of these caught my eye.
Can you guys review something like the modoker?
A travel/garment bag?
@@JarradShaw sounds like that might the perfect bag for what I am looking for. Thanks
City sling is awesome. Sad to see no minaal! Mine is $
Hi there. I am looking for a compact sling bag to carry my Nikon D750+Tamron 1530, passport, phone and a camera rain coat. However, which one you will recommend? The peakdesign 6L seem too tight though
These are huge I'd just love one for my keys wallet phone ear buds and ereader any advice?
I SEW and DESIGN my OWN( Neck pouches , Cross over or WAIST ) but if find in THRIFT STORE …👍🏽😉!
Well I’ve seen so many, what do you recommend

Have y'all ever reviewed or talked about haversack style bags. I would like your thoughts on those please. Thanks.
Can any of the smaller sling bags fit the new Kindle Paperwhite?
