The Elements Tech Case by Alpaka is actually NOT originally intended to be a sling... as the name suggests, it was originally designed to be a tech accessory carrying case, but with such a high quality strap, and strap anchors, it fits the bill as an everyday carry sling bag perfectly.
An EDC sling needs to carry everything YOU personally choose to carry with you every single day, and so of course, the Alpaka Elements Tech Case may NOT accommodate everything of yours, but as you can see, it fits everything I need it to in my everyday carry kit.
Sling bags are my personal favorite TYPE of bag... likely because I use them quite literally every day, and so I'm always on the lookout for that perfect EDC sling pack and this one comes damn close (except for my two criticisms explained in the video).

I'm a big fan of things that aren't a pitch-black void on the inside where I need a flashlight to find my stuff, except I can't find my flashlight because it's already in the pitch-black void.
Stop carrying around too much useless shit that you don't need with you all day.
This is my number one complaint about most bags too. The black hole inside a black bag filled with a bunch of black items make life hard, even having a grey inside is helpful.
Clip the flashlight to the outside of the bag. Around the strap would be good, or even clipped on your pants or shirt.
Well written and good description! 👍
@@assordante2205 ha true except I carry two cell phones, wallet, keys (huge fob), glasses, and sometimes airpods.
Great bag and video. Just a suggestion, it’s not a good idea to put a watch close to magnets if it’s a mechanical/automatic. The balance spring will get magnetized and stop keeping proper time. Unless you have a demagnetizer.
Was just gonna comment that. This is very tru
Amzazing review Maurice!! There is no one out there as detailed as you when it comes reviews!! I’ve become a fan of Alpaka because of you! Cheers my friend! 😉💪🏽🙏🏽
Absolutely the best bag I ever bought. For water- use a flask like water bottle- fits in the middle, or just a flask..
I agree on the green Xpac. Looks so sharp and is very water resistant.
Good video!
I've been using the elements tech case since end of March 2022 almost every day for work and going out. It's my most used sling.
My only criticism is that they need to reinforce the zipper stitching where the zipper goes around the corners. When you over pack or don't organize it evenly, the zippers get hung up in the corner and over time the zipper stitching will come out. Fortunately Alpaka sent me a replacement.
This is a great review. Thank you so much for putting a standard sized travelers notebook in the bag. That was my one question after all that you showed and you answered it! Clean, concise, and to the point. Well done. You’ve got a new subscriber!
I really like that the notebook is included. I always have a sketchpad, pencil and pen.
The green one will be such a great bag for on the go art and journal supplies 💚
Got mine in green and love it. I can definitely leave my main large crossbody home most days. The front zip is perfect for my iPhone SE 3rd gen. So glad I found this one. The review sold me, and a friend wants one now! Michael Albuquerque NM USA
This is the first video of yours I have watched.
Once I saw that sweet couple day old oven burn in your hand....... Instant respect.. I subbed. Keep cooking. Keep producing.
I discovered Alpaka about a year ago. I have the Bravo Sling Max, Tech Kit, Hub Pouch, Hub Sanitizer, Tech Kit Mini. I have been trying to figure out how to best use the Tech Kit as an EDC Sling Bag for quick trips and catching your video yesterday was the a-ha moment. Thanks.
Hello! I'm thinking about buying the tech case, but I have doubts, will the new version of the tech case be available?
Love this case! I own it in both black and green. It fits the new iPad mini perfectly as well as all my EDC. Hands down the best bag I have owned. Thanks for the review!
Thanks for sharing that info. I'm interested in this sling as my first one I purchase. Was wondering if a Kindle reader would fit in.
@@rahmi.digital iPad mini size: 8.3 inches. (biggest, Oasis) Kindle size: 7.0 inches.
@@ultraSabotaj appreciate you! Very helpful
I was debating between a few brands and your review helped me decide, and placed an order for the elements tech case.
This review is fantastic. I’m getting this for my partner to elevate his EDC and make it more organized and efficient.
Reminds me of the purse ads from the 80s where the faux leather bags had so many pockets, hooks, zippers, and compartments that you need a map to find it all.
But this is pretty cool cuz I’m a bag nerd.
I remember those commercials when I was a kid too! They were the inspiration to my backpack and EDC organization decades long before EDC was a thing.😉👍
Every time your videos pop up on my recommended I am never disappointed. Just went ahead and subscribed, thanks for the dope content.
Thanks for the review. I definitely agree that this Alpaka bag needs another exterior flat pocket for travel documents and/or metro passes. I traveled what seemed interminably recently and such a pocket is a must going through checkpoints or boarding a plane. For your suggested uses, perhaps an additional security catch of some type which could be engaged as needed*. A pocket dump bag as you showed in a backpack review would also be good. Lastly. the height seems just a bit too short for my Kindle Oasis eBook reader, another one of my travel essentials. Recently on the aforementioned trip, lacking the perfect bag, I utilized plain bag that expanded from its own pocket. I had a hand sanitizer bottle attached to the cord of the bag. It turned out that this bottle was the perfect toggle to stick in the seat back pocket in front of me. That way, squished in as I was, I could still grab the cord and pull up the bag, to get the needed item of the moment. Attachment points are always good, just in case. [*perhaps you have done other videos on security features.]
Very similar to the Peak Design Tech Pouch. Would love to see a side by side comparison. Keep up the dope vids!
I’m on the search for the perfect everyday sling, something that isn’t too big and bulky. I get these ad’s all the time and the products look super quality but I still feel that this bag is a bit too big for my everyday, as someone who is very active riding bikes, hiking, climbing everyday I don’t want a big bag that weighs me down and swings all over the place. Great review 🙏🏼🙌🏼
Nice job. You are a very articulate speaker. You did a very professional review. Thanks!!
I know this is a bit late since this was from a year ago, but I just got into edc pouches myself. You can use some paracord through that outside anchor point to make a loop or attach a d-ring or something to be able to attach your carabiner there.
Just started watching your videos yesterday. Great stuff!
Love this video. I had been considering the Alpaka Tech Case for a while, but this sold me on it. Please also make more of the Queen P. I want one!
Cool review. I got an Aer Day Sling 3 Max myself after seeing your review and others and I’m really liking its day-to-day practicality. I find it has plenty enough compartments for my needs and it’s really inconspicuous despite its size.
a few things, their straps are pretty small, wish theyd give extra length and let folks cut off excess. Im 6-5, and 305 pounds muscled, I am a police ofc and use their larger bravo bag, the lined compartment on that bag, I use to carry a secondary pistol as a backup to my on body, when I am casually dressed.
I love the idea of this bag, its just many of their straps for their bags are to short!
I along with 27 ofcs and deputies who are in my car club and riding club, all use alpakie for off duty and for court dates haha. Great bags and wonderfully thought through!
Also on the larger bravo, I just got one in green as it matches my uniform, but I also have a soft armor plate insert that works wonderfully with the bag!
Like many here, I watch a lot of edc videos, this is possibly the best bag I’ve seen
Alpaca What?? I was jazzzed as soon as I saw the Lamys and the Hamilton!
How have I not discovered your channel sooner?!? Great content.
Love the interior organisation. It's something I wish my EDC bag had. That said, this is too small for me.
I got the Bellroy Adventure Sling 9L and it's almost perfect. Other than a slight dearth in interior organisation, slightly too shallow from pocket, and no back pocket, I have no other faults with it.
That said, I did find a bag locally that's the almost the same size. It has two better exterior pockets and a mesh back pocket. The material has the horrid cheap plastic feel though, the interior organisation is terrible, and the colour options not good.
Superb review, thank you so much. The orange interior is brilliant, really makes it easier to find things. The lack of that back hidden zip pocket is a deal breaker for me though. I carry a toss wallet in my pocket, and need a more hidden place for the real wallet, and my passport.
Loved this review my G !! Killed it .. I just reviewed the hub pouch . I love what ALPAKA’s doing ! Keep up the great work ! 💪🏼
Thank you! I clicked on this so fast 😂😂😂 I want to hack this to attach it inside my cozy Fjällräven Kånken for organization, and then take it out when I don't need the whole backpack. Yay 😄 I hope I can find it in Europe...
“Slack Management!” Love it ! 👍
Thanks for the review! I’ve had the wandrd crossbody for a year now but the material started peeling. I loved the buckle design but I think it’s time to move onto the alpaca!
That Queen... had to replay it that section of the spin. Then it's also another compartment, very nice and yes maybe you should make more.
I have this sling as well. I found when I added the full size TN notebook with double pen loop from superior labor, it was difficult to retrieve.
Looks like a perfect case for my Switch Lite, battery bank and a pile of games. If you want a carabiner loop on that tab on the front of the bag just loop a piece of paracord through and tie a nice diamond knot. You can use a nice contrasting color and it will look and work great.
Really great thorough review! Thanks for sharing.
I was highly attracted to this sling pack and I found your video… turns out we have the exact same phone case, exact same water bottle, and a very similar watch 😂
Great review - the problem is the aggressive organization really incentivizes over-preparing; reminds me of a cross between my sling & tech case (both Bellroy branded) wrapped into one unit. The organization & materials are a definite plus, especially the option for X-PAC which I'd love since I live on the coast. A version 2 of this also needs either a magnetic clasp on the strap or quick-disconnects on the connection points for ease of wearing.
And yes, the Queen-P is slick and you should make more; wanted one as soon as I saw it in one of your earlier videos.
I recently took interest in sling bags, never had the urge before since I'm a big guy so I prefer the double strap backpacks, but for EDC is annoying sometimes. A friend of mine had the Ikea sling bag for about 3 years now, and it still looks great but unfortunately they don't make it anymore, so this one seems great. I guess I'll buy a cheap sling from Walgreens or something to test it out for a week and see if it works for me before spending this much money on a bag
My wife thought I should have a sling bag when we travel, and after doing research on what bag would best suit my needs I've come to realize that sling bags are rebranded purses.
How have you gone with this?
@@chrisyoung5885 i found one in Ross, it's a Nautica sling bag. Perfect fit and pretty spacious, only cost me like 13 bucks haha
@@Vipertw and what was the conclusion from that observation??
@@Vipertwyes, my wife calls my sling bag a “purse”
Can't wait for this review!!! 🙌
Nice review, thorough and multi perspectives thank you!
I was recently looking into the newer bellroy venture ecopak edition and although it doesn't has as many compartment, it still has a ton for my needs.
I like the idea of all the pockets but can’t tell if I’d use them well or not. One thing is that I often need to carry a charging bank for my phone if I’m out all day and I think it might be too bulky for this setup. That said, I really like the idea of this bag. Thanks for the review!
Which do you recommend?
Yes! Make more of the Spec DNTs!
I love the green one too!! 😍 OK I want your hat now too. 😏
That was a wonderful presentation :)
Thank you for the detailed deep dive into these bags. (and the discount code) Ordering one now for my spouse!
Great Video Maurice! I finally decided to order mine last night, thanks for the code! I went for the Elements Tech Case Black X-Pac VX21
Love the detail of your review
Yo! I was actually an early backer on kickstarter for this sling and I freaking love it! Glad you like it as well. Ps I also own a bravo 🤭
Great contents and explanations! Thank you for your hard work.
thank you for your videos! i subscribed like a week or so and I like the detail and quality of your info! cheers from Mexico
Amazing review, lucky I found this before I bought a new EDC!
Yeeeeaaaahhh we're going to need more details on that Queen fidget.
Wow, just stumbled across your channel and... it's awesome!
Great vid as always. Glad I subbed a few weeks ago 🙌🏻
I personally like the Travelon cross-body purses. Waterproof, RFID, cut-proof strap, replaces the need for a separate wallet with a large main compartment.
Travelon makes awesome bags
Reminds me a lot of a peak design case. Although how much variety in design can you expect in this kind of space?
8:28 I 100% agree with this wishlist for v2
Man's purses are back, but with a sling. Brilliant!
I'm going to try this because I use Travelers and tech, and it's hard to get a bag that has analog and digital organization features. I'm going for the magnetic strap too. Thanks for the review.
Nice video!! Ordered mine😎
Thanks for the review. I've been really curious about this one. I really like Bellroy's slings for their capacity and clean external profile. But they have very minimal organization. They're also higher in price than some others, over $100 for their 6L and 9L models. They have a 6L lite version, but it has in fewer organizational pockets.
solid review. got the tomtoc sling after watching your review !
I got the olive green sling in this video. It is really great. A few comments: somehow you made the front pouch look bigger than it is :-) my phone doesn't fit although I have a Zfold5. Happy to carry it in the main section though with my wallet in the front section. What is great about this sling is that when you swing it around to the front of your body everything is really easily accessible. It really works well in this respect. Not having to put it down to find something in it can actually be a really great feature when you need it. It carries a lot for it's size and I love the bright orange inner lining. The one thing I don't like though is the strap it is narrow and not great. Although not uncomfortable I wouldn't call it comfortable either. The one I got does have an attachment point at the bottom with a d-ring. Funny though as that wouldn't be on my wishlist, I really wouldn't want something bouncing against my butt while I'm walking. Overall though - the proof is in the pudding, I take it everywhere with me and at half the price of the Belroy equivalent that is good value.
Really cool and professional review, thanks
Very well reviewed!
Have one but have decided a handle on the outside is a must. I have small hands and is hard to pick up without a handle
Have a wonderful Christmas
I just came across you, wonderful!
Great video as always, Maurice! Where did you find the Field Notes leather cover?
Great video man! Would love to hear your thoughts on the Alpaka hub pouch. Been looking into it a potential mini EDC pouch / wallet alternative but can’t find any decent videos that cover daily use as good as you would!
Regardless, keep up the great work!
Peak design tech pouch.
I'm wondering if you've considered packs that have features like lockable zips and slash guard technology?
I feel like this one could take more gear than my 9L Venture sling because the organizing is looking so much better.
For the perfect sling, I would put molle on the bottom to be able to attach an umbrella, make the bag slightly bigger to fit a water bottle and add a lined back pocket.
Great review…..and thanks!
Can't wait for Tech Case Max coming soon
New viewer here-what a solid review! It is the daily that builds a life and I appreciate the careful consideration of the EDC. I’m hoping this video, and others, will help my husband stream line his massive EDC as hybrid work gets so complicated.
Awesome review, I dig the variety of topics you cover, not just gears and stuff.. If you have time may I sugg the Wandrd D1 fanny... It covers a lot of what one needs, curious to see your thoughts. 👌
Excellent Review As usual. Would you happen to know if this can hold a Moleskine Large (Large 5x8.25 in ) w/ an IPAD Mini? THANKS
I wish more bag makers would use bright or lift colours for their liners. It makes finding items in the bay easier.
Love your reviews
first time see real utility sling for so much reasonable price
Ciele is such an underrated brand!
Very good stuff
Great videos that has inspired me
Interesting. This is very similar to the Pakt anywhere sling that I got about a month or so ago. I’m very happy with the Pakt because it fits my iPad mini and all that I need when I go out and I really like the mesh zipper compartment on the inside. I think the Pakt may be bigger because that outside pocket can fit a water bottle.
Great video! What's the bench made with the bronze orb chillen in the background?
done downloading 🔥🔥
Well presented , tks
Got my first sling, hopefully my wife don’t bully me 😅
100% agree with the "2.0"option
Maybe it's been asked in some of your prior videos but I didn't see a link for your glasses with the magnetic sun glass feature. Can you share where you purchased those from? Thank you.
Would love to know more about your glasses and the removable sunnies. ✌️
Great video!
Thanks for another great & concise review. I am using the kodra version, it's great being able to transform it from a tech pouch I can stuff inside my backpack to a sling bag. Can attest to kodra water resistance, was able to kept dry the inside while I got caught in burst of torrential rain + someone spilling ice coffee over it 😂.
I got the Bravo X Sling with the blue interior. But I would definitely get one of these if they had the same.
That's a badass purse.
lol
