Here's our HTC Vive Review for 2018!
ruclips.net/video/BQZ-ppGPFu0/видео.html
Alright you have convinced me
Superb review, one of the best I have seen to date!
I haven't been able to capture that feeling I had as a kid when I got my first game console, a jungle green n64, for christmas. I bought every console from the ps2 to all of the latest generations, nothing has made me as impressed as my rift. I don't have a dedicated "VR" room and I'm a lazy bastard. But it's so good, I get up off my ass and set it up everytime I get the itch to play. If you've got the money, buy one, if not, save the money and buy one. Thousands (probably in the tens) of dollars and years later this is the first purchases for gaming that I actually feel like I got my moneys worth.
I bought the Rift myself. Lighter and more comfortable with better controller while being cheaper was why i chose it.
Vive does have slightly better full room VR setup even showing you objects in your way but it doesn't compare to the advantage the Rift has over it.
I was thinking of getting one so I can here straight away! It really helps thanks
Onward is worth the 15 bucks it's one of the best VR experiences I've ever played and I've been doing VR since the mid-90s.. if VR first person shooters are anything like onward is the future of VR is going to be great..
Agree just got Onward and it's a blast :)
''since the mid 90's'' ?
the amount of shit exiting from this kids mouth is fucking insanity...
Man 90s VR looks like fun...... And very nauseating
@@computethis7128 Yeah man. VR back in the 90's was awesome!
Great video! Really helped me to make a decision! Thanks and take care!
Great review. You covered everything I could have imagined. Great job!
Can't wait to buy my oculus rift soon
You just made me buy one :) Thanks!
Best I've ever gotten was a Google cardboard until yesterday lol, ordered one off Amazon and it arrives in a week. So god dang excited
Very good review, I feel the same about my Rift.
Thumbs upped after the cat-in-the-face
By some miracle i managed to get a Rift just recently from Best Buy during the price cut. Cant wait to play with it on christmas
Was it worth buying? I'm thinking on getting one it's on sale right now. Just not sure if it's worth it!! I've never tried VR before
You were speaking to people who already are familiar with VR. I need a good foundation in what is needed and what to expect.
I think thats a good video idea. Keep an eye out for it. You need a gaming computer with a mid tear (i5 ryzen5) processor and a high end graphics card (gtx 1060 or rx480 examples. For the oculus you need hdmi out and 3 usb 3.0 ports. A windows OS is also needed. You'll be setting up sensors and need open space to play in. VR really feels like your in another world. You hear things behind you, you can walk around, look undertables.. It's truely a new experience. A cell phone does not deliver that experience.
thx i might buy this vr headset
Where is the best place to buy oculus rift? And does it come as a kit with oculus rift, controllers, and sensors? Or do you have to use sensors? Do you have to buy them separately?
Excellent review! With regards to the Rift's price, I was ready to pay $400 at a Microsoft store in San Juan, PR and to my pleasant surprise, they'd knocked the price down $50! So that day in particular I was lucky to get it at $350! : D
Good video by the way and not 3 to 5 years old as most are when it comes to the Oculus.
such a shame you can't get vive with rift controllers and inside-out tracking.
Has this oculus rift 2 screen where you are looking at while playing? Or like 1 large screen. Thanks!
Loved the review! Only thing I found that could be done better was the choice for background music. Maybe it's just my guitar player ears that make it a bigger deal than it is(found it a bit distracting) , but I think there is other music that is more chill/appropriate for a review like this.
Great review. I gave the cat a thumbs up. :)
Beautiful video, keep it up!
Really enjoyed this review, you seem like a nice guy.
2 years in and 1.7k subs. This seems like a lot of work.
As of today Oculus Rift is the best Value Headset you can get. Add 3rd Sensor and get true 360 and Room Scaling.
2 years later and it still holds true if you get a good deal. Just snagged one for $160 used
Great review. I am really interested in buying this for its versatility. But I also want to use it as just a bigger screen for my laptop. Is it possible to just plug an HDMI cable into it and just have it as big desktop screen?? If not do you know one that does?? Basically I would want something like just having a big screen tv in front of my eyes to which I can just plug my laptop into.
There's a game called "big screen beta" that will do that. But you'd need a pretty beefy laptop to run VR on it
Can you use this on the xbox?
I think the box kinda field of view is more acceptable for people with glasses. I have square glasses, so I can only see sharp images through a box. So I dont mind with it in VR.
Just bought the bundle for 260$! Used but in excellent condition. I was waiting for the rift s to come out but my ipd is a low 58 so the original rift was a better choice for me. Still a great upgrade from my psvr as well. Time for the Oasis []-)
After playing both, I ended up buying the Oculus. Honestly, the Vive is a waste of money. $200 cheaper, or $140 cheaper with a third sensor for full 360 roomscale, with considerably better controllers, noticeably lighter HMD, built-in GOOD quality headphones, and what I feel is a slightly sharper image? Yeah, Oculus all the way. The only real advantage of the Vive is the lighthouse sensors. They are barely better. Rift has some minor tracking quirks, but they are few and far between. Really not enough to matter. At least 99% of the time, the tracking is perfect when your sensors are configured well.
This exactly.
The "box" u are talking about is what made me go with the vive. I could not stand it personally.
I tried Oculus Rift with Touch, for about a week, got tired of the poor quality, everyhing out of detail, blurry vision. I returned it after a week, but it had really cool features for sure. Will wait for another generation of VR, but it have great potential.
reinventing the wheel?
he said cheap, lets laught all together and cry on the end of the video, cuz we are poor
Well, it was cheap to my credit card, not to my budget. Cheaper than a vive atleast
The vive pro with all you need ( sensor + controller ) is like 1600+ tax here in canada RIP
Go on official oculus website it’s only $300 hopefully this is helpful a year later!
Great review buddy, the only thing is, I kept on waiting for you to mention about your experience with the Oculus Rift as a person who wears glasses. I noticed that you were wearing glasses when you took off the Oculus, but you did not elaborate at all, as someone who wears glasses myself, I would like to know if you had any problems fitting your glasses in there, or if they were touching the lenses of the Oculus at all etc.
+Pro Sim T&T Great question! I didn’t mention it because I’ve had the same experiences with every VR platform. I need my glasses in VR even though I’m near sited. It is Something that’s a bit bothering but ignorable long term. I suggest using old glasses in case of micro scratches. Long term is like to buy oculus prescription lenses for the headset. The do offer that.
Thanks for the reply, I guess that the Vive is better when it comes to wearing glasses due to the fact that you can move the screens further away from your eyes, making more space for your glasses to fit.
+Pro Sim T&T so I’ve worn 2 different styles of recent vive headsets and would not say I’ve had a better experience with room for my glasses
on point
It has a vive logo on the back. Lovely.
I noticed that too when I got mine, fun fact, the Vive has the oculus logo on the back.

Is there a way to see what your vision look like when you put your headset, like pixels and quality without vr?
Not really. Ive used several types of head sets. The vive and the oculus are the best, and tge vive pro is supposed to have even better resolution. If you want vr this is about as good as it gets
Covert Shelf on the wall??
what's the price in 2k18?
The guitar is uncomfortably loud btw
Awe, kitty! So glad you didn't edit him out.
V.r set production
I think Microsoft made the rift to provide extra support
2019 birthday gift
Explain to me how you managed to get the headset on with those glasses.
Its a struggle, im working on a video about glasses and VR
Are some of the games included? If not that's ok but wondering.
Robo recall, dead and burried, medium, toybox, and quill
Oculus seems like a great vr set and I mean..GREAT,I don't think it's a lot for a vr head set that is this good.
Sorry if I sound stupid, but does it come with full body tracking?
Not a stupid question. No it only tracks the controlers and the head set
ahhh...... the "OH! I didn't see you there" Intro.....
Can't listen to him speaking without being distracted by the loud guitar solo music in the back. But overall great video and very helpful
Guys is there an independent oculus device that does not need any other device all i know (about older model oculus) is that u need a samsung galaxy device (s7 and above i guess idk i forgot)
There is an Oculus Go for around $200 that is standalone (not needing a gaming pc) however the quality is much worse. There is also another oculus wirefree one coming out soon that is better but debateable on whether it is comparable to the rift yet
You got a like for the cat.
Your cat's adorable.
$350.00 now...bought one today. It's a good deal.
I am very nearsighted, do I have to wear my glasses while the VR headset is on or would Ibe able to see clearly without my glasses?
I'm near sited and i need to wear my glasses in the rift.
@@SpaceDodo Hmm... Thanks for letting me know :D
I have to wear glasses too. One thing I wish I knew ahead of time was to warm up the headset, even maybe your glasses before getting into a game. From my personal experience my glasses fog up badly if I don't warm it up. Also depending on the size of your frames it might be hard to fit them inside. I have huge versace frames that barely fit. If you wear big glasses you might have to loosen the straps which will let light in around your nose (immersive ruining) but if you can get the room as dark as possible you won't notice after 10 minutes. I'd say try it out but keep the receipt. If it works for you I'm sure you'll love the experience. If not at least you can get your $500 back.
Thanks I love your cat
She's a regular gueststar!
great review, the cat need food i guess :)
why is it so expensive in denmark 3600 dkk = uss 545 -_-
I have a Gtx 1050 ti and pentium g4560 do you think I could still use the oculus? I’ve heard that it would work but with small FPS dips but I just want to confirm.
Yes it is oculus capable, but it's very close. Maybe steer away from the more graphically intense games and you should be fine!
Tech Dive thank you very much that is very good news to me!
How do you have a 1050 but u use a pentium ? I’m sorry I’m quite new to computers so maybe I’m wrong but I’m just asking I don’t mean to be rude or offend you
Scout 2000 I don’t exactly understand what your asking
hey man no one is advicing me to get the normal oculus rift because of the sensors they say you can't turn 360.. is that true or what's the deal ?
It's kinda true. You can just about do it with good placement, but it's best to buy a 3rd sensor if you want 360 no issues ever.
Tech Dive my man I’m gonna get the Samsung odyssey plus any tips or advice before I get it ?
They drain battery life and its par for vr. Better than a phone, but worse than the oculus. Tracking is ok. I've not used that exact version
I'm thinking about getting the oculus rift, but is it glasses friendly?
+Seeker of The Dragons meh... non of them are. I can play with my glasses, but it makes micro scratches over time. The oculus sells prescription lenses though.
Tech Dive these are the glasses I have, maybe these could work? www.studiooptical.gr/frames/women-eyewear/toms-buckley-10008692-4820.html
I got my oculus in two days ago! Love it, the best part my glasses work great with it, fits perfectly
Yes, this is a glasses friendly headset
Hi
Hi guys can the oculus rift work on your TV instead of computers, I'm just viewing all options, thanks
+Lynton Dixon no, it needs a computer to work. I’m should be getting a technical questions video out soon for more details
Thanks for the info
Do you need a laptop
Are the controllers rechargeable or you gotta buy new batteries every week? I hate that, I actually went back to a corded mouse from the batteries dying in the middle of game and was out of them.
Standard batteries, but they only need one AA and they dont drain very fast. I've been happy with them. Much better than wii motes
Grr, alright, well still hate the fact they can just die on ya and still must pay to replace nonstop. Oh well, anyways, thanks for reply....Cheers!
my specs
gtx 1050
8.1 gb ram
amd 6300
can i run vr?
Im sorry but barely. And i had trouble with my am3 motherboard having full non bridged usb 3.0
Should I get HTC vive or oculus rift?
Our vive review then our Head to head video coming out shortly!
U have to try them both to know. Personally, I like the vive much more but u may like the rift more.
I have one, never played on Monitors since and have no intention to go back to the cave age.
Why would you stop playing on monitors? Their two different experiences, one doesn't replace the other. You can't play an FPS like SWBF2, CoD, etc on a VR headset. Also won't be getting the resolution or refresh rate of higher end monitors.
PCMasterRaceTechGod I agree this is the stupidest comment I have ever read.
Have you tried the Samsung Odyssey? If so how does it compare?
+Kevin Thomas yeah it’s.... par. Not knocking it but I’d use it as loaner for a friend over. Any less than that and it’s not quality. My friend who owns it says it eats batteries with the controllers.
Yea I heard about the batteries. I just bought an Oculus Rift like a week ago just checking to see if maybe I was missing out on something better
also isnt it not hooked up to a computer.
Double negative... Tricky.
Of course I get vr ads on this video......
heh, i see your Gtx970 and i giggle a bit heh C; I have a Gtx 1070 hehehehehehehehehehe
Music takes over the review.😣
I'd like to listen to your review without that music. I find it distracting.
You're interesting enough without the music.
I had to ruin the 360 likes for a 360 view in VR, by making it 361 likes lol.
Dawwww mistoh kitteh wantz sum luv.
That's a cute cat...What it's name?
Patches
I AM DUMB BUT CAN YOU PLAY VR CHAT IN THAT?
Yes
DOU
Surprisingly great review. I was afraid this will be another one where some guy with funny voice is opening the box for ten minutes and reading what's on the labels... Too bad the price of Oculus Rift where I live (EU) still translates to bloody 600 USD. :( If it were the equivalent of 400 USD, I'd pick it up literally today.
Barát Gábor have you had a look on eBay? I live in the UK and just picked one up for £295 with touch and sensors in as new condition. Wouldn’t pay more - but there are always a few to buy at that price.
Be careful with your glasses bro the lenses are super soft and scratch easily
For people who complain about the price, I know plenty of people who spend way more every year on a new phone.
*it's only 400 dollars*
3p1ks it was 800 a year ago
Audio mixing tip: Dont try to compete with your background music. Your semi-monotone voice becomes overwhelmed by the sound of suck guitar shredding. I liked the review all else considered!
Where the 4K at - it's 2018.
How is this for watching movies? I'm not a gamer.
Check out my oculus go review for that! It's cheaper and good for movies. Rift is good for movies too but go is cheaper and not big fir gaming
0:39 "Its only $400". Who are these people who think nothing of $400 to spend on garbage gadgets or $1,000 on a new iPhone? Is everyone prospering like crazy while I sit here being conservative with my money?
They could have made it more sturdy looking . Looks like it was built in Taiwan wait scratch that more like made in China. The sponge that goes against your face looks so cheap I had to buy one on Amazon for 50 dollars more. It's so sad . Just get the hive unless you dont care that you have a dorky looking vr head set . The controllers and sensors are about the only good thing about it.
1 Cat = 1 like
Nice review. In the future skip the annoying background music.
I want Idubbz to review this guy
I spent 2200$ on a VR ready PC that was spose to work with everything.Gtx 1080Ti 11 g,Kabby Lake. But it has been a fucking nightmare.I have had the computer for about 2 weeks. When I first powed on the PC the oculus didnt work.Took me forever to find a solution.I updated the graphics card and it worked for like 3 hours and never worked again.I know it's not the cable, there is some sort of conflict or something going on.All I can say is I know computers somewhat and I cant figure it out after talking to NVIDIA,MSI,and Oculus. So if you have no Idea about computers your FUCKED!
+Michael Wojtasik we are working on a forum where our community and Us can converse about issues and related topics to products we review. I’ll share the link with you once it’s set up and maybe you’ll get a Resolution!
You bought a PC or you built a PC?
Does it work in normal non-VR games?
Blah
Cringiest intro ever!!

I'm sorry, but the line you said in the beginning made me cringe so hard.. I'ma click the dislike button
