    Really appreciate you doing cable reviews. Extending the Rift and sensors is definitely one of the more frustrating things about VR. Unfortunately I had a much different experience with both the 5m and 10m UGREEN cables. I'll preface this with the fact that I've never had to balance my sensors on certain ports on my motherboard before. I've had as many as 3 sensors connected simultaneously, all using USB3 without any issues.
    When using both the UGREEN 5m and 10m cable, my USB connectivity immediately drops down to USB2 on both sensors as soon as I plug in the second sensor. It seems to be able to handle one sensor at USB3 with an extension attached just fine, but as soon as that second sensor is plugged in, the details of the sensor under Devices in the Oculus software show them both connected as USB2. Were you able to maintain USB3 connectivity on all three sensors using the UGREEN extensions?
    Lastly, one more thing I'll mention--if I supplemented the power with the attached micro USB cable, everything worked fine. However I've read these cables don't have any sort of power/voltage regulation in them, which can potentially put the hardware on both ends in jeopardy. This leads me to believe that while bandwidth isn't a problem with my motherboard, perhaps power delivery is.
    Thanks again for videos like these!

    i have my Oculus for around a little over 6 months now and because i live in a small appartment with not enough room or reason to extend my Oculus cords, i still want to buy these cables since me and my boyfriend are planning to move to a bigger space in the near future and hopefully it will give me a lot more space to move around in. i also saw some helpfull ways to keep the cables out of the way by hanging them on the ceiling. you could say i'm planning ahead and think of a way to make Oculus more comfortable to play with without being scared that my cable is too short or even in the way. maybe i will also get a third sensor if that will help better with moving around more flawless

    • @Snsee

      Okay, so I tried some different combinations today and fixed it by plugging my sensor (without extension) and my oculus in the inateck card, and the 2nd sensor with the 5m extension in my USB 3.1 Gen 2 on my MOBO, now they are both detected as 3.0. But I find this pretty weird because that means that the Inateck card has some bandwith problems and Oculus itself recommending this card makes it even weirder...
      Edit: After complete system reboot it jumps back to 2.0

    Great video, just what i was after. Couple of things i would like to ask if i may. Firstly, i have tried setting my sensors up to give me more coverage. Brought the active cables but when it came to setting up, it said that i could not have my sensors more than 6ft apart. Can you skip that part of the set up with no issues? Secondly, with the HDMI,you have to buy the repeater, do you have to buy anything like that with the USB 3.0 cables? Cheers.

    • @VirtualRealityOasis
      @VirtualRealityOasis  6 лет назад +1

      The distance between the sensors warning can be ignored. However, each individual sensor has a limited range:0-1.5 feet: No trackingUp to 6 feet: Excellent trackingUp to 8 feet: Good trackingUp to 10 feet: Okay trackingBeyond 10 feet: Unreliable tracking
      You don't need a repeater for the cables []-)
