    I suspect the Bluetooth issues are mostly caused by people not realising they must have the Wifi antenna connected to their PC for Bluetooth to work properly. Range shouldn't be an issue then.

      @@arnovanwingerde8589 After testing this out for myself I found that the reprojection on the PS5 wasn't contributing as much to the overall clarity as I suspected. While it was nice not to see reprojection in HL Alyx, the overall blurriness that all fresnel lenses have, felt the same (from what I can tell) as say resident evil 4 and 7 on the PS5. So yeah I would say there is some truth to the psvr2 lenses not being the clearest lenses available. Also the mura effect looked exactly the same to me in HLA as it does in the resident evil games as well. Best advantage is the FOV which is an upgrade from the quest 2 in that respect. I also appreciate the colors and contrast levels. For sure they are quite bright and colorful. The advantage to increasing the resolution of the game itself is that I can see a lot farther without it blurring as much as a lower resolution headset like the Rift S.

    Those through the lenses pictures don't do justice to the PSVR2 at all. It looks much shaper in the headset when correctly positioned, enough to see individual pixels, and those images also don't represent the more vivid colors, oled black and higher brightness compared to Quest 3. In fact, those images obscure the Quests flaws: color, contrast, glowing blacks, low brightness and compression (since pictures are compressed anyway, like RUclips videos).

    • @MrCamel254
      @MrCamel254 3 месяца назад +4

      I think its a fair representation actually. Pretty dissapointed about the lack of sharpness in PSVR2 compared to Quest3. The black levels are also not a night and day difference that i have expected since on PCVR the black areas still look more greyish compared to native PSVR2 for some reason. Compression differs from game to game. In Alyx for example, the testing of PSVR2 really highlighted how good compressed image already works on PCVR. There is a small loss of detail that is offset by the better sharpness of Quest3.
      Overall i think the Quest3 wins. Still keeping the adapter for games like SkyrimVR or Asgards Wrath1 which do look shitty on streaming headsets.

    • @fabriciofontes2898
      @fabriciofontes2898 3 месяца назад +7

      @MrCamel254 Something must be incorrectly configured in those games if the blacks look grey in PSVR2. It can completely turn off individual pixels.

      @Kiznel 3 месяца назад +5

      This is definitely a good thing to consider. If you *also* have a PS5, then PS VR2 is a must-buy imo, especially for that $350 discounted price. You get the best versions of the best high-end games on both PC and PS5, so up to $500 for one headset on both PC and PS5, instead of having to pay $500 for a PS5 headset *PLUS* another $500 for a PCVR headset.
      If you only game on PC and have no intention of ever getting a PS5, then a PS VR2 even at $350 might be a harder ask vs a Quest 3 for $500 + $50 for elite strap.
      Only worth it for PC only if you value realistic colours over edge-to-edge clarity imo.

Also I think it's funny that the side by side comparisons were all in the HMD photos being taken really giving misinformation on the clarity of the images, also looking like a little PS editing too. I have both HMDs now and regardless of lenses the image and graphical fidelity inside the PSVR2 is still better, though not but very much. @MarkArnoldMusic 3 месяца назад +4

    The reason Sony didnt pack a bluetooth reciever into the adapter is because a Bluetooth receiver with a high enough bandwidth to power the sense controllers wouldve essentially had to replace your pci bluetooth stack - as the Tplink dongle does. A unifying reciever (used for things like your mouse) wouldnt have cut it.
    I feel this being forced on users would have actually been worse than giving users options - as inconvenient as it may be.

    • @ChrisD__
      @ChrisD__ 3 месяца назад +2

      Isn't the "unifying receiver" a proprietary Logitech standard? Also later WMR headsets solved this issue completely by putting a bluetooth receiver in the headset, then forwarding the controller data over USB. IIRC, the controllers even came paired with the headset out of the box and all you had to do was turn them on. You do still need special headset specific software to re-pair them though, which isn't great.

    I was really hoping that Sony would make a VR headset that works on PS5 and PC. But they didn’t.
    So they released this box as a solution. It’s gonna really help out with sales.
    This feels unfair. PSVR 2 users have one of the best headsets on the market right now and have access to a decently sized and fantastic selection of exclusive PS5 games and all the benefits of PC VR. Not just the exclusive games, but the modding aspect, too!

    I don't have a wifi card in my computer, and I had a TP-Link UB500 USB adapter jammed into a USB extension on my desk already, got it for my DualSense, XBox, and WMR controllers. The controllers paired fine after I discovered they were dead as a doornail out of the box, and have worked flawlessly with the UB500.
    If you don't have Bluetooth, or need something better than what you have, the UB500 is excellent.
    I'm also theorizing that the old, unfortunately discontinued DualShock 4 controller adapter could possibly work with better connection latency and quality, though until I get one in hand I can't confirm or deny this idea. They're scalped pretty heavily online but I did find and order one for $40, so assuming I remember this comment by then I'll share my results in a reply.

    I was "forced" to use my PSVR2 headset with PC because someone stole my main pair of glasses out of my car . . . My backup pair does not fit inside my Index, at all, and the main pair did. I didn't play VR for like a year, other than GT7 on PS5 and Horizon VR until I finished it. I even forgot why I stopped playing PCVR. Then sony released the adapter.
    I'm really pleased with the experience. It's nearly flawless for what the basic feature set does. Inside out tracking is a little less accurate than the base stations, but it doesn't interrupt play enough to notice (often) and having the room bright helps. I'm most disappointed the didn't support foveated rendering and, to a lesser degree, HDR. My PC struggles to push the pixels needed for the PSVR2 over the Index just enough that I've had to rely on reprojection or lowered refresh rates (90 instead of 120 Hz) in a couple games. I was blown away at how well it helps the PS5 do VR (even with reprojection). I had hoped it would allow people to push their PCs even farther.
    The OLED screen is a huge visual upgrade, though. The downside is that its noticeably smudgy in motion, but not so much that it brings you out of the game once things are moving. But dark scenes are actually dark, which is really nice.

    I myself am interested not in the PSVR 2 but the BigScreen Beyond. I’m here because I was curious about the new adaptor that made PSVR 2 compatible with PC. Not only is the BigScreen Beyond a MicroOLED screen with an RGB subpixel structure, it’s also lightweight and has an iOS face scanning app for when you order directly for a custom fit.
    I’ve seen that a lot of people don’t mention the fact PSVR 2 is a pentile screen meaning it has a 2 subpixel structure. It won’t have the same clarity as a full RGB pixel substructure. Also it being lightweight is ideal for aerial combat simulators like DCS World where keeping your head on a swivel is far less cumbersome and more comfortable than heavier headsets.

    Wow, I use Q3 standalone, since I don't have a game PC or console, tried a PS5+PSVR2 combo, found it impressive in Horizon, but returned it because of usability: cable, loose sound, console etc. I am considering a gaming PC, perhaps with PSVR2 for the beautiful OLED colours. But then I saw the side-by-side pictures! Yes, the colors are nicer as expected, but the difference in sharpness is so huge, that playing anything on PSVR2 looks definitely out of the question! Why buy some high-res capable gaming PC when you are throwing it all away on the optics? All the nagging about compression due to no display port completely fades away against that. PSVR2 is out for me!

  • @QwerkyPengwen

    I think that overall the Quest 3 is a better purchase if you are looking to buy either up front.
    The PSVR2 with that adapter will cost $610 USD before tax and the Quest 3 is with 128GB of storage is $500.
    The Quest 3 will have all the many years of improvements and advancements in inside out tracking, passthrough mode on the cameras, and even finger tracking and also comes with the ability to play Oculus exclusives and be standalone should you ever want to travel. While there are a few pains here and there that come from running both the Oculus and SteamVR layers with the whole translation thing between them it's not the worst.
    For the money and overall features, I think you are better off buying a Quest 3.

      The eye tracking is absoultly there. It uses Tobi eye tracking, however the games themselves need to support it too, otherwise it's useless. Which is why they probably didn't bother enabling it. Elite dangerous possibly could use it, so could VR Chat, but that's about it.

    Personally I'm always playing different platforms new and old, so Im content with the speed of PSVR2 output. I dont expect them to pump money like Meta anyways.

Wireless stream never worked for me and always had issues (but I have update issues as well simply because my country isn't in the supported list, so I have to do the updates manually), and wires would get some lag/compression time to time for next to no reason. Most other reviews I've seen were way to bias one way or the other. Either it was the best headset in existent with no issues what's so ever or it was complete trash. You gave us the Pro's and Con's and a very fair assessment.
