I've been producing for only two years now and I always thought experience in beat making came with either natural drumming abilities, or in my case, decent mimicking of favorite drum rhythms. Other mentors have taught me how to make beats. This video has underlined, guided, and really demonstrated effortlessly the importance of rhythm/ beat making. Your explanations were excellent. Some good take aways for me was the defining of groove in each drum note length and placement, and the importance of velocity to further shape the groove. Cheers and Thanks!

With what I have learned about RUclips it is know more so about the comments. this seems to be the main idea. so I'm going to leave a comment because you just helped me understand something no one else has tutorials on. that is groove or groovy. I am curious if you have funk knowledge I want to try to make my own groovy jazz funk but have been having troubles finding tutorials. Ill be looking through your page to see if you have any and for anything else I can learn. Thank you for this video.

Thanks so much! All this stuff is definitely a step towards funk…try using syncopation on chords and creating a moving bass line for starters.
