This mofo gives the best and most important information to real production. There is no one on the same level. Some are good but this bruh! What an effin legend!
This has to be one of if not the best production tutorials for any genre I’ve ever watched. This is a teacher, not a repeater. Seriously great job, thank you.
Sometimes rarely you come across a video that explains the same things you’ve seen many times but it’s explained so simply with purpose that it finally clicks. Great video
So glad found your page . I am a hobbyist ten years , do not play music instrument . My mind is still in a dark room with joey beltram playing i1991 I use reason 12 Been demented on why my music is not sounding how I should Then I watched your video to look at it from a musicians point of view , top to bottom . My music has came on amazingly I’m actually dancing in my seat . Thank you
There are so many types of basses(reese, sub, foghorn, acid etc) in electronic dnb, jungle, house, garage. Is it possible to take a similar approach to those and explain in which contexts the different bass types work best in and maybe what kind of rhythms work best for them?
I'll have a think about that. I think just like drums it's more about recognising tonal shape, or frequency content over time. For example a Reese doesn't have much attack , so is bad at fast rhythmic parts, this why they are always used in a held pad way. Where as a bass like the Lately bass or acid would be the opposite. Sub is a frequency role , usually too low to hear the shape of in pure form, just there to fill the bottom frequencies.
@@Bthelick even this alone is extremely helpful for someone like me who’s relatively new to producing edm. I feel like bass is the most difficult part for me to get right
Great stuff. I've never been able to figure out why my beats sound flat and boring and muddy compared to the stuff I like to listen to. In fact I was digging through your channel today to see if I could find something like this. Really appreciate you doing what you do, and the way you do it is very easy to follow and understand.
I've been messing about with Ableton for years and years. No tutorial I have watched comes even close to those found on this channel. These really are amazing
omg i love the production on the video itself mate! the exact way the audio is ducking when you speak, your enunciation and speech patterns instantly give me a late 90's BFBS radio show feel. :D
Thankyou! I probably have the same mic tbh, it was a deliberate choice. Shure sm7 is indeed an old broadcast mic. Delivery wise though I'm just trying to do my best Dan Warral impression 🤣
I don't say this casually, it's THE best video I have watched on youtube on that matter. You are a great teacher ! The basics without wich it's impossible to achieve a professional sound. The majority of the content with other channels is clickbait and, yeah sometimes good content with tips and tricks, but that's the good old way of teaching people need to learn. Thank you a lot for that good content.
Thank you for making these videos and releasing them for free. You could without a doubt be selling these videos as courses, but you're not and that deserves a coffee man.
I'm so happy I ran into this channel!!! This video is the great lesson for the fundamentals that is required before you can even get into the technical aspects of things.
Really good stuff! One thing to add to the placement part would be the impact it has on transients. Kick, snare, claps and even sharp hats or thumpy basslines can really mask or amplify each other when their transients match perfectly. Slightly shifting one or the other can really do wonders for audibility and volume balance.
Many people say "put your claps/snares a little off-beat to make it more groovy", but I never thought it could make a difference. Now I can hear why, because of how you explain things. 👏
it's almost magical even a subtle percussion or a slight change of hat accent changes the entire groove beyond recognition. wow! (Yes I've told this to other creators many times but) Bthelick delivers the best House-related tutorials! Big ❤
*This snare/clap movement was vital to adding some flavor to my songs. 🔆🔆🔆🔆 Thanks for this in-depth tutorial! 🍾 I’m still watching because it seems your video has a lot of cool tricks!*
Wow! I’m going to watch and listen to this several times as I embark on my next project. So much info and moments where the penny started to drop. Thanks so much x
Wow. I’ve been producing for two years and I wish I would’ve found this then. Great insight on how the little things can actually drive the music and how to actually do it.
ive been around for a while now producing, and your tutorials are possibly the best, most in depth yet understandable videos ive ever watched. I came across you by accident and stuck around even watching the videos I THINK im educated on, and still learn something! Keep it up bro, you are a blessing to the music producer community
I love to see this channel blowing up, When I discover you in your breakdown of "She is homeless" I knew that you're a well Knowledge person that know real Music production. Love your content and also want you more success for you!
Wish I could found this channel 2 years ago when I start production it will probably save my time, I’m glad I found you thanks pls keep making videos it really help for new producers. Much love from AU.
OK, so I'm quite new to this stuff... but have watched a lot of videos on this already. None are giving as much as this video! I couldn't understand why any of my rough creations sounded nothing like the music I love to listen to and now it makes sense. What sucks me into tracks can be all sorts of elements, but the drums are often what gets me hooked. Such a fantastic video and I will be trawling through the others on this channel. Thanks so much! 😊
Great video, thank you! I've just started making music and watched a lot of tutorials already. Some of them were useful but this was amazing. Glad I found your channel and wish you the best…
Though other channels offer similar content, their presentation is subpar. Enjoy the quality of the narration and the overall presentation. I am now a subscriber. Thanks.
Thank you for this wonderful tutorial. I like the way you explained every action you're doing and why. That makes things clear. I just subscribed to your channel. Bring more please.
First video I'm watching from you. Only 9 mins in. And im ****ing stoked. Love valuable real information like this. You are going over so many important elements that are easily skipped in other videos. And no matter how good you are I love how you break down even the simplicity for the beginners/ and a refresher for the experienced.
Hey, I love your videos, the way they start with your voice and the music that reminds me of those radios we used to listen to while we were traveling down the road.❤️
It's a short video , it would just say "don't!" Seriously I just don't use any. See my rants in the last live video Also there's not really a musical angle I can think of in that subject, there's lots of videos already. I'm trying not to join the engineering race.
@@Rekoyl116 it's just ear training. And that comes from referencing. Just reference more and listen out for what I talk about in the video. Referencing is key, your ears adjust to their environment over just 20mins, so if you're not referencing at least every 20mins you will have no 'aural goal' to aim for and keep you on track. Check my first live stream from 30mins onwards, we make a track from scratch and you'll see my process.
What an enlightening tutorial. This has demystified grooves for me. I have watched so many videos on this where I know some of the things you presented already but you really tied the knowledge together and made it practical. I like how you are teaching people how to listen, as sound selection is arguably the most important part of music production.
Great video. Giving me so much inspiration when I struggle to make beats. As for your slogan sign off that you're thinking of... "You've been licked" would be good. Looking forward to many more educational videos ❤️

High quality instruction.
You are def right about this channel. Also I do find the channel 'Underdog Electronic Music School' with Oscar very helpful too:)
yes he is
Sol and Yan Cook do a great job too
Golden!
This has to be one of if not the best production tutorials for any genre I’ve ever watched. This is a teacher, not a repeater. Seriously great job, thank you.
"tone" is really the part that takes years of practice to get right. Over the years I've learn that sound choice is everything
💯 👊
Sound choice, rhythm, melody (or lack of) and arrangement. Everything else is extra.
I just hot-swap until it grooves 😎
facts yeah
Mom, Bthelick uploaded again!!!
@Bthelick this needs to be in your opening monologue.
I've never seen all the essentials of drums explained so precise and straight to the point...and all in one video, THANK YOU Bthelick !!!
Wow this is so eye opening in terms of the unknown complexity that is within a lot of electronic music.
I've been looking for this video for ten years

This feels like, I'm watching a tutorial in a club!! Need more like these like sound design for house music.. Please do make these.

I had been wondering why some of my clap samples had that extra transient. Thank you for the explanation.
Clearest drum programming tutorial I’ve watched. Thanks very much.
Mind blown. This is the distillation ive been waiting years to see.

Best tutorials on the web. What great value!
this is my first deep house tutorial ever! i am so glad i found you. couldn't have been luckier 😎💯♥️
As a drummer, I really appreciate your tutorial. Full of wisdom. So analytical. This should be used in drum school.
You are articulating a lot of stuff I've done subconsciously while crafting beats for years now. "no, not quite yet. AH! Just right!"
