Solid process! I've been producing for a few years but really want to circle back and strengthen my drum game. All the key concepts are so well explained, even though I'm familiar with them this massively helped as a refresher. Look forward to applying the workflow.
I love that you've taken the time to explain everything (with name and all) rather than just clicking a studied loop together with presets like most youtube videos do. Thank you.
This is amazing video! I always struggled with the groove (kinda funny, the most important element in house music), and the 16th note grid philosophy really helped
Enjoyed this video, a great intro tutorial on how to layer various elements to get a good house groove. One small note : @ 21:00 "When we're using audio we have to swing manually" - audio clips in Ableton can have grooves applied to them the same as MIDI clips.
Correct! You definitely can swing audio, I shouldn't have said we 'have to' swing manually. Good pickup I just prefer swinging manually in this case, because there are fewer steps, and the audio clips don't degrade in quality, as they do get warped by applying the groove.
Very instructive, thank you! Now I just need to figure out how to do this in Logic 🙃 If anyone is wondering, the track in the Intro/Outro is Wichita Falls by Laurence Guy
Very tempted to buy your course. Your channel is up there in greatness with You Suck at Producing, Underdog Music School and Seed to Stage. Thank you, your channel bring me a shit ton of inspiration and is leveling me up big time. What other courses do you have?
Thanks! Glad you're enjoying them, haha I'd never noticed that before I think its a mic pop from the 'd' at the end of Reverb'ed - but we hear what we want to hear don't we
Hey Hannah, I can usually find something nice if I type in 'texture,' 'atmosphere' or 'field recording' Otherwise, you could also check out something like Radio Aporee which is a sound map of field recordings from all over the world aporee.org/maps/
@@EDMProd Thanks! I just started building up my sample library and even when you chose the snare I struggled to find one that matched, however, I realized the importance of having a sample library, lol!
When he says there is nothing in what he later calls the groove spots, I think he is assuming the user knows that the sound in the bars above are releasing at that point and the midi notes while still in that spot is not going to be actually producing sound (unless you have some super subby kick).
Cool! But I must say that the most common BPM on real House Music, as far as I can see, is between 120vto 126, with some hits above that. Try to take some time to check thus... Marshal Jefferso's House Music Anthem, Liz Torres hits,, Chicago's Traxx hits, Hot Mix 5 hits, DJ International hits, ffrr hits... ...Blase, JM Silk, Visual, CC Rogers, Arts & Krafts, Boyd Jarvis,Kevin Saunderson, ... The labels and composers, singers, names are passing thru my mind, and almost almost no one is so swinger and so fast Besides, the point is, your vídeo and explanations were really cool!
let's hope it's not another mediocre producer with mediocre advice trying to pass it off as good knowledge before they've even established them selves in the music scene
my god, the best tutorial for drum beginner out there.. learned 1000x stuff, thanks so much!
Nice 👍🏻 You can also use the TR 707 for the classic chicago house sound

How has it been going?! It’s been 5 months now, would you say you got it down?
I love that you've taken the time to explain everything (with name and all) rather than just clicking a studied loop together with presets like most youtube videos do. Thank you.
Word, also seen dozens of track breakdowns talking about which plugins were used.. hardly useful

Great video! Thanks for soloing parts when you added them.

Hi! Luca! When you search for the Texture loop what are the key words you enter to get some loops with good textures to add?

I think the hi hat was reversed on the 4th beat when house was originated back in '87 '88?
What’s the song at the beginning? I vaguely remember it
Laurence Guy - Wichita Falls

I'm not a fan of using software on a computer/laptop as an instrument.. but that being said.. what program is this?
Ableton

Hi Luke I’m Luke. I also make house music and EDM. Lol
these types of video really need to open with the result.. if people are impressed by the result they'll want to find out how it was achieved.
Imma keep it real with you it really doesn’t take that long to make the drum for house ..it depends how well you wanted to sound
But the whole groove comes from the Bass, the placement of the sub-Bass notes are super important. Unfortunately you didn't cover that!
i dont like 16ths
Way over monetized on the video. Too many f*cking ads made it almost unwatchable.
let's hope it's not another mediocre producer with mediocre advice trying to pass it off as good knowledge before they've even established them selves in the music scene
Everything happens way too fast in this video had to stop watching
