I've owned a G10 since 2008 and it still works great. I've had other cameras in the meantime but I still bring out the G10 because of the zoom lens and the Canon colors that I have always liked. Thanks for the videos. They are enjoyable
I like your idea of shooting through the umbrella at 4:00. The raindrops add a cool effect that could look like a film noir image (black & white) with a more moody setting, possibly later in the evening. Creative! ☺
Cheers Sam. It’s not exactly an original idea but it does look cool. I’m definitely gonna be doing this again but with a camera that can better handle the rain 😂 Thankfully the G10 survived, but I don’t want to push my luck 🖖😁
Awesome rainyday streets. Nice video as always, David. The wet pavement reflects everything in a scene adding beautiful atmospheric effets. I Love your videos!
Enjoyed that one David, rainy shots work really well so long as you're in the right mood to go out and get wet. Talking of wet, we had a brief glimpse of summer at times over the last few weeks, but then the bank holiday came and brought cold, showery, even thundery weather, and now it feels like February again - wet, dull, cold, ho hum.......
Yeah my shoes took about 4 days to properly dry out 😂 Thankfully the G10 survived though. I figured it was worth embracing the weather since there’s practically no predicting that nonsense. I think that I’ll use a more suitable camera the next time I get the urge to go out in the rain. Thanks for watching mate🖖
Nicely done - And a great reminder of the moments that can enhance our work when the temptation might otherwise be to stay in and stay dry. I particularly liked your B/W treatment of the couple with their umbrellas in the old cobblestoned way as rain was ramping up. Hope your un-watersealed G10 survived the shoot intact! Compliments!
Thanks very much. The G10 survived without issue, the same can’t be said for my feet though😂 Some of those cobbles are loose and hide a lot of water under them lol 🖖😁
That looked fun 😂 I had to go to Anlaby the other day and obviously it was raining. Popped into town for a coffee and a quick lap with the camera and actually got a few reasonable shots. Should make the effort more in the rain. Will be plenty of opportunities now we're heading into summer!
I bought a Lumix LX1 and I love the pictures, but I find it quite difficult to use it (no vf, lcd is not very good and it's sooo slow). Is the G10 better, in that regard? what about an old DSLR,with a ccd sensor, like the nikon D200? The pocketable, point and shoot part would be lost, but I guess that my question is, do you think the secret sauce for the LX1 is the sensor, or the sensor plus the lenses? thanks a lot
I also have the LX1 and know exactly what you mean. The G10 is different but not better. Screen is bad and the view finder is an odd rangefinder style thing that I never use. Regarding an old ccd dslr, that’s the way I’d go if you like the idea of being able to switch lenses. Some of my favourite image I’ve taken were with the d70, d40 and d3000. I think the pocketability and decent image quality is the draw of cameras like the LX line. I don’t see any difference in quality between the LX1 lens and the G10, but I do like the extra reach the canon offers. Thanks for watching 🖖
2:56 nice colors; 5:35 nice colors and framing - nice shot 6 minutes black and white nice circular filter use there in lightening the subject, guy looking in the window at 8 minutes needed something more, not sure what - closer maybe? You could see the potential in it from the video. 8:27 was nice. Good efforts nice video. I thought there may have been potential in the cracked window at the beginning on your left. With people I think closer is better, but the G10 is not fast focusing, maybe prefocus and trap? People don't like strangers in their face, which is a problem for anyone over 5 feet tall. Best wishes, God bless!
Surprisingly good in decent light. Of course it’s not going to compete with more modern cameras, but I’ve never noticed any issues with it. It gets a bit shaky in low light but then again, this whole camera is a bit shaky in low light😂 Thanks for watching 🖖

Hats off for videos like this one. While everyone would stay at home, you go out and try to get something good.
Thanks very much. My shoes are still drying out but it was a great walk🖖😁
The camera is not important, the important thing is to have soul, passion and memories.

Excellent video David, finally purchased a g10 coming next week
Ooh nice. Hope you enjoy it, mate🖖😁
I commented on one of your videos. I have a g10. Love it so far. Taking to the ruins of turkey next week. Yeah 🎉🎉🎉🎉 thanks for the inspiration.

Thanks very much. I had a blast despite getting a bit soggy along the way 😂

Nice! Love the black and white 🖖🏻
Cheers, Alex. Have a great weekend mate🖖
I certainly will buddy,
Yeah the tg-6 would have loved those conditions 😉
Absolutely! I’m getting something like that before autumn😁

It was fun to be honest. A better choice of camera next time though since I spent a large portion of the walk trying to keep the G10 alive lol

What would be a good raincover? Its a bit more tricky to cover it when the lens goes in and out while zooming.🤔
Honestly not sure, I have a generic one but find them clumsy at best which is why I don’t bother using one with these tiny cameras 🖖
Canon g10 or the Olympus EM10 mark II? I “need” a nice small everyday camera!
Em10 mkii all day long for image quality and lens options, but if 28-140 zoom is enough and you don’t intend to shoot at higher ISO, the G10 is solid.
How is the autofocus on this one?
