The Resto Shed
Добавлен 23 фев 2022
Hi there and welcome to the channel, I appreciate you stopping by!
I am starting this channel to show the whole world my adventures and misadventures of all things car resto related.
I mainly focus on the bodywork sides of things - everything from fabrication to polishing, but not limiting myself to only those things.
I do have some interesting projects upcoming!
Always trying to achieve great and greater results from my home garage and on a budget.
Hopefully I can pass on a few tips and tricks to those who are also playing with cars at home and learn a thing or two myself from your guys and gals.
Cheers, KC - The Resto Shed

Hi Friend, Your vids are awesome! This is Alloyworks! We specialize in the production of automotive radiators, heat exchangers, and cooling system components. We're wondering if we could collaborate. Would you like to put our products to the test and review them on your channel?
Great content
Thank you.

Great work mate.
Thanks for watching.
nice work you are all over it
Thanks for watching.
Very nice mate 👌👌👌
Cheers AL. Thanks for watching
Great job mate. I’m subscribed 👍
Thank you!
So good to see a true craftsman at work. And thank you for going to the trouble of restoring those concave features in the panels. It drives me nuts to see hq-wb builds without those factory contours.
Thanks for the kind words
Is the owner going to keep it a Prem? Love your work mate.
Yes mate.
The absolute least amount of primer and base humanly imaginable is all that one can use when tackling the world famous reverse curve. It's only ever the top coat that is thick. The prime and base are only ever feathered.
i owned a hq for over 20yrs. All original but with rust in doglesg front nd rear windows a bit, passenger door got blocked up with leaves so that had water in the door, now i have a rust line where the water went too. cowel drivers side and thats about it. but i can't do any work or affored to fix it. watching this video is cool
Nice work mate Subscribed looking like an interesting channel
Thanks for watching and subscribing
Without the door skin off, after metal work is done, I use a concrete and metal cleaner inside using a small pump. I make a homemade play dough to plug weep holes and catch the chemical as it runs out one end. It turns rust into iron phosphate! Then spray and wipe to clean while allowing several days to dry. Rust turns black and stops future problems as it seeps into the seams and pinch welds. With a detail gun and plastic sleeve, I spay epoxy inside the door and other panels. Once painted, I complete the inside with a pro-gun setup using a cavity wax from quarts of product. This one is mine and should last 50 years after I am gone. DK, Omaha, NE. USA ASE Master since 78.
Just had your channel suggested to me, and I've been binge watching. Out of curiosity are you in AUS or NZ? I'm not great with accents.
Australia
@@TheRestoShed So do you have to do inspections with an engineer like other people I follow from there, or is that like a by-territory or area thing? Tubs came out great!
The diff jig is genius. Might have to borrow that idea. Cheers.
Hi What size tyre and rim. How much to do a mini tub like this thanks peter
325/50r15. The car has had a fabricated rear clip installed by someone else.
Thank for the reply
The best quarter repair video I’ve seen in a long time very talented Work and your using the best rust converter on the market there cool video
Thanks for watching.
Very very nice work
Thank you.
Great work. HQ's have some very subtle shapes that many people don't even notice. Ugly quarter panel created a lot of work, may have been easier to replace it?
Chances are any replacement quarter panel would have needed just as much work, it would’ve been a lot more work to replace it than repair it. (for me anyway)
Good job, nice to see you actually fixing the panel the hard way.
Haha if it was easy everyone would be doing it.
Awesome work ✌️ Peace
Thanks for watching.
Geez you’re great at metalworking. I know it’s edited down a lot but so impressed with the speed and quality of your work
Thank you. It was about a fortnight’s worth of filming put into this video. I also got incredibly sick around the time I had the drivers side dogleg cut to bits and was bed ridden for 4-5 days, so I moved a little slower after that! Lol
Not sure what size mig wire you use, and also not sure if you’ve ever seen or used them when you are cutting off a panel your welding back on but you can get 0.6mm cutting discs. Look and feel super sketchy but they cut really nice
0.6 wire and 1mm cutting discs.
I see a issue inside the rear doors with dog leg and doors needing a tweek for the tubs a bit like rob buachamps vl pro street commodore of the 90s
Only the dogleg will need modification, it’s only a 29” tall tyre after all and the car isn’t at ride height.
You are a modern day legend! So few people these days are capable of what you do. It is a pleasure to watch you work! <Hats off!>
Thank you!
Brilliant work as always Kyle. Just curious as to what paint stripper you use?? The Supercheap auto stuff is as good as water
I think it was just the Diggers brand paint stripper, nothing special - just bought from the hardware store. I’ve found most paint strippers work, it’s really what you’re stripping that plays the big part in how effective it will strip.
I reckon you panel beaters are amazing craftsmen. Probably because I’ve muddled my way through many times with varying success, so I know how hard it is to do a good job. Subscribed.
Thank you for the kind words!
Awesome work man, thanks for sharing it! See ya on the next one
Thank you for watching.
Nice work Kyle, keep at it man 👍🏆
Thank you.
Well done 👍
Thank you.
Done an awesome job. Had a go at some file finishing/ dent removal on my tonner last weekend. Not an easy task. Cars going to be lighter with all that bog off the doors lol.
Yeah will be a bit lighter now! Haha
Great narration to go with the quality workmanship. Thanks for sharing it and I hope you get the chance to finish this car off.
Thanks for watching.
Nice work bloke
Thank you.
Quality work mate!
Thank you and thanks for watching.
I just brought one of those dent pullers for my kingswoods, can’t wait to use it. Thank you for the video, you have done a great job and it’s some good inspiration 👍
I’ve had mine for years now, one of my best (cheap!) investments. Thanks for watching.
Great job mate 👍👍👍
Thank you
@@TheRestoShed welcome mate love your content and channel ppl who have been in the industry for years still can’t do work like you do 👌👌
Killer result, definitely not your first rodeo 🔥
Thanks for watching.
Your a gun mate ,no doubt.
Thanks for watching.
What is the disc on the grinder? Solid metal for the heating then shrinking. Im curious
Shrinking disc
Nice work
Thanks dude, I got an in and outer set, looks like the inner is a lot more work but I have to do it as both are gone, the set I got for the drivers was to long, the guy said it was cut to length, my ass it is, anyway, I got the passenger side a long time ago with the rear dimple in it, the new one from retro spares doesn't have it, I'm not happy with their stuff.
hi what length is the diff thanks
Great and informative well presented video. Thanks from the UK
Appreciated thank you, very enjoyable and informative.
Mate you are so down to Earth and relaxing to watch, you are an artist, Dave from Australia
Thanks for the kind words and for watching Dave from Australia.
