Good work Josh
Great news about the tb test good video josh 👍👍
Are you still planning on a hard base for your dung heap
Glad your tb clear good amount of bales cheers 👍
Grats on the result mate
Fantastic news, well done team
Congratulations on your clear tb test will you buy in some smaller cattle when you sell these ones 🙂
Another great video Josh I'm so glad you passed you're TB test you're cow's are looking amazing hope you do well with them when you sell them Will you be buying replacement's straight away That was some amount of bales chopping them when baling is the way to go makes them easier to spread out for the cattle and the bale you opened looked awesome Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one
Glad the cattle were clear. I was close with my guess for the bales I said 139. Good luck when you go to sell the cows.
Close!
Great video josh, great that all the cattle passed the herd test 👍. Very nice silage you made.
“He’s like McGregor, he’s got legs left”
Glad you went clear on the TB mate👌👍
Thanks 👍
Great news on the TB test Josh, its always a stressful time and even more so when its your own cattle! It looks like some very nice looking silage you have made and being well received by your hungry mob. Thanks for the video.
First
👌
Bet its nice to be back driving a descent tractor again...
Great video. The drone footage is awesome. My guess is 139 bales
Oh you are so close! Thanks Bob!
Very good video Mr and Mrs Mistlebrook your friend Tom has some nice machinery especially his mowing outfit i mowed our 7 acres of silage with our wee 2 drum mower and the 135 it took me all evening was tired looking at it 🥱
I didn’t even consider mowing it myself! 😂
Ah butterfly mowers, game changers, 3 rows at a time
Indeed! Big kit!
what a set up the mowers are , very impressive , I did mow mine with our own mower the same as you have there in the yard and yes it take a fair time but started at 4.30 am and just kept going , it took about 12 hours to cut 24 acres it was heavy as its a 2nd year of a 5year lay that had muck on in the autumn and 2.5 bags/acre of nitrogen , it produced 10 bales/acre , i think you will get 8/acre . love that tedder you had there , that moves some grass for sure , Good job looking forward to see how many you get in the next one
Very good guess at bales! I wasn’t even considering cutting this myself! Would have taken far too long!
@@BackMyPlace I in no way was criticizing you at all please don't think that , i know you only had that day to cut and ted it out so if I offended you I apologies
great video josh !!!!!
Thanks Keith
Comment for engagement
Well done Josh great video, in parts was like watching a silent movie haha
Haha yeah it’s strange watching it with no sound!
Awesome 👌 looks a good crop my guess would be about 135 ish
Very good guess! 👀
Nice to see you back in a John Deere 😊
Haha only briefly!
@@BackMyPlace 😄 are ye missing your 155 yet
Nice one team. Good crop you have or in the word's of the funky farmer he'll of crop of grass 😂😂
Will do us fine that crop! Very happy!
Awesome video Josh nice to see the farmer and wife out doing the silage it looks like a good crop and that krone tedder made a nice job of teddin it out it should dry well you should get a nice amount of bales from it You're drone footage was awesome Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one
Thanks John! A fun family day out! Got some work done too!
@@BackMyPlace 👍
Did I hear right…. You had to fork out 8 grand to fix your dogs leg?! Holy heck 😱
Yep! He had a metal leg now after breaking it badly as a pup!
@@BackMyPlace Ouch! Poor pup. He doesn’t seem to have a limp or favour that leg, that I can tell from the videos 👍
nice one josh
👍🏼
Evening everyone! There is no sound to the drone footage I’m afraid! Despite my best efforts I keep running into copyright issues! I’ll try and sort it for future videos! ☺️
John Deere have copyrighted the sound of thier engines 🤣
It’s great to be cutting again
Absolutely!
Great video josh and abbie. Very nice quality silage. You will a lot of bales from it. 👍
A grand total of 136!
You’ll have a 6330 before we know it 😝
Haha maybe!
Cracking video as always. Tom has some setup. Keep up the good work Josh
Thanks Paddy! He has some lovely machines!
Comment for the algorithm 😉👍
Thank you mate!
Another great video @ drone footage it looks like a good crop of grass josh nice to see Abbi and gus🦌👍👍👍
Thanks Sandy! A family day out!
Bet you’re please that’s done Josh! 👍
I absolutely am!
Thanks Josh for my Sunday afternoon farming fix. Nice seeing Abi, Gus and yourself out in the field, and the Krone Tedder sure was making a great job of spreading what looks like a heavy crop. Loved your Egyptian method of moving the concrete panels with your round fence posts 😂. Thanks.
I didn’t know what I was going to do when the loader wouldn’t lift those panels! We made it happen!
Abbie steering like a champ!!
She’s some woman!
Will let you away with it this time Josh, but fully expect you to knock your own meadows next year 😊😊. Seems to be a good bit of under used space where the muck spreader etc is stored could you free that up for more cattle? I know youre not fenced for it, but would the investment in water and fencing not be much better than having them housed this late in the year?
Thank you haha! The reason I keep them in is so that I don’t have to worry about them breaking out or anything like that! It’s 30 minutes from home if something happens. Piece of mind is worth a lot!
I wouldn't sell them nothing less than, £800 that's their value
Thanks Tommy!
Perhaps you should price saw dust or bark mulch for bedding the cattle. It may work out a lot cheaper than straw.
Will look into it!
@@BackMyPlace always good to keep your options open. Hope you are enjoying the dairying.
i have started chopping ours a few years ago for me its much better and the cattle eat it far better and no waist
They are being chopped! Glad to hear it!
@@BackMyPlace good you will be happy with it
Very good video, rarely here about accounts/finance.what is midden.
👍🏼 midden is a term used here for a dung store
I’d definitely chop that stuff mate, especially if your feeding to younger animals. If you’re worried about bale stability, leave the outside knives out. What the plan with buying cattle in? Grown them on to feeder weights?(ready for finishing) or take them right through?
We chopped them! I think I like the idea of buying weaned calves and selling them as "good stores"
@@BackMyPlace that’s the go, you’ll be able to have higher numbers doing that. What sort of margin are you looking at? Need rapid turn over of cattle?
Would selling the steers and keeping the heifers and maybe buying a few more to AI later make any sense rather than selling yearlings and buying calves? Not sure what a semen stick cost over there and I realise that you have to fit your cattle into space that Phil isn't using.
I’ve thought of doing that. One option that I’m thinking of doing is butting dairy heifers and putting them in calf and selling them in calf
Id say only get ya bales chopped if ya making silage as it will break down alot better in the cows stomach
👍🏼👍🏼
Good vid 👍 good luck with silage and tb test 👍
Thanks Antony!
Awesome video Josh that looks like a fine crop of silage and you're cattle are looking good I was wondering will you be grazing you're cattle at Dr Phil's or keeping them in the shed full time Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one
Thanks John, it’s far easier for me to have them in, as bad as that is. I haven’t got to worry about fences and also there’s no water to the fields so have to fill a cart all the time.
@@BackMyPlace 👍
Maybe I missed it but why are the cows still in the shed? Surely it's cheaper for them to be eating grass?
Couple reasons, tb testing soon. Also I wanted to cut a lot of the ground for silage to get a good stock of feed for the next batch of cattle.
