You’re a good fella Josh, folks must be terribly proud of you I’m sure, hard graft always produces results, can just take time to pay off so enjoy, exciting times for you.
Thank you very much! I’m sure it will in the end! I’m a firm believer in hard work paying off!
Great video josh. Nice to hear your story of your journey of how you got to where you are today. And the appreciation that you have for those who helped you get to where you are today. 👍
Thanks John! Couldn’t have got to where I am without them all. Important to never burn a bridge when moving on as well!
@@BackMyPlace very true
That was a great rundown of how you started. I worked on a farm for many yrs I come from a non farming background but started to work on a small holding helping them milk in the evenings I then graduated to a bigger farm and continued to work on farms at weekends and evenings and also school holidays when I left school I went to the local farming college where I did a national cert in agriculture which was a big thing back in the 80’s. I moved down to Hertfordshire in the mid 80’s and worked on a dairy/beef farm and contracting I loved every minute of it but I knew I’d never be able to own my own farm sadly at 25 yrs old I changed career which I stayed in for 30 yrs but I look back on my farming time as the best yes if my life so far. Keep up the good work and follow your dreams good luck.
Sorry Earl I have just checked the 'held for review' comments section and this was in it! I have no idea why! I'm glad you enjoyed your time farming! I don't know anyone who has worked on farms and not enjoyed it, which is brilliant! Thanks for watching!

Hi Josh well done and said. When I was a lad I worked at a small farm doing anything I loved it I didn't go for money it's because I really loved working with farm animals. I never ended up farming, but to this day I like watching farmer's doing there job, I really envy them I no it's hard work but great satisfaction in it. Thanks Paddy! I certainly will do!
Nice to hear your journey.
Thank you! 👍🏼
thanks the video josh, my family were farmers, but my dad worked for his dad, pay wasnt great so he ended up a suceesfull farm feed salesman, i always wanted to be a farmer and worked every weekend/holidays, but like you didnt want to stay away for college(newton rigg) so ended up making agricultural equipment, this together with my hobby of rallying led to a career in rallying as a mechinic for several motorsport teams before moving to oxfordshire and subaru 555, then formula one. been all over the world and to some amazing places , i still love all things farming but live my farming life through you tube and your guys channels,so keep up the good work and keep making videos, inow have an extra channel to watch on sundays with 'back my place'
It sounds like you have had an amazing career! I know a few people that would give their left arm to have done the things you have! I hope we entertain you on a Sunday!
Glad you are enjoying the journey...
Felicidades por tu trabajo.
Seguimos tu canal JM hace tiempo.
Me gusta la gente le entusiasma su trabajo. Felicidades por tu nueva granja y mucha suerte.
Thank you very much! I’m very lucky to work in a job that I love!
Muchas gracias por ver y comentar. Asegúrate de ver @BusywithDr.Phil.
Great video and a great story. I love nothing more than to see a born farmer doing exactly that: farming. The old saying springs to mind: if you love what you do, you'll never do a day's work in your life. You should be proud and deserve huge success in your future.
That’s so true! Never feels like I go to work, always having a good time!
Good on you. Looks like you have picked up lot's of experience on your journey and learning all the time from the good Dr , Mr Bowman and all the team. Someday, whe is it raining ,freezing cold you still would not give up the great outdoors
Thanks Stephen! I’ve been very lucky to have worked for great people every step of the way!
Thanks for your support ...appreciated it
Thanks for sharing your your story. I have heard the phrase "council farm" several times lately on the British farming videos I watch. What exactly is a council farm? Thanks.
No problem! Here in the UK all the various counties across the country own farms and parcels of land. They are often rented out to new entrants to get them started in the industry for a limited period of time. Every county has a slightly different way of doing it…sadly some of them have been selling the farms up to release cash!
Great to hear your story josh you are a great worker 👍👍keep up with the good videos
Thank you Sandy! Appreciate it!
What a journey to shows hard work pays👌do you think if the job hadn't changed from dairy to northwick would you still of started RUclips?
Thanks Antony! No, I wouldn’t have started the RUclips if I had stayed on the dairy farm. It shows everything happens for a reason!
❤
Josh thanks you for your wonderful video which hopefully will help inspire the younger generation into farming or other industries. I fully understand your journey and the decisions you made, and like you did not enjoy school, although my direction took me out of farming and into many other industries. Farmed from birth to 18, then went into engineering and after qualifying and through lots of hard work moved to logistics, waste management, logistics Recruitment & training to name but a few. I started with nothing and through hard work have had a number of businesses which was very rewarding. Although now retired, it pleases me greatly to see someone like yourself who clearly has great passion and an amazing work ethic progress the way you have, and wish you even more success for the future.
Sounds like you’ve had a very busy and interesting working life! Thanks Fraser!
Georgia USA very good video what is your goal with these cattle ?
Thank you! We would like to do beef boxes 👍🏼
Always interesting to hear the journey people have taken. I wish I’d done an apprenticeship when I started off but they were looked down on 🤷♂.
There was always a stigma around them and I don’t really know why! Was the best route for me and many others, might not suit everyone though!
@@BackMyPlace fairly bluntly it was for “the thick ones” who didn’t get the grades when I was at college. There was a push to get everyone degrees, which in ag and hort means little for the practice side of work. I could never do the paper side/class room stuff, I wanted to be off working as soon as possible lol.
I’m the same as you pal, get me outside!
Great video and very interesting to hear your background in farming - enjoying your channel too 👍🏻
Thank you very much! Glad you are enjoying it!
It was very good of you to explain your story and I am sure I speak for other viewers that we appreciate your honesty. I wish you the very best for this amazing journey you are on.
Honesty is the best policy as we all know! Glad you enjoyed!
I really admire your love of animals, your strong work ethic, and your ability to draw in your viewers through your genuine sincere personality. I wish you much success in your farming endeavors!
Thank you very much for your kind words! 🙌🏼
Good man you have worked your way up from school to where your walking about to where you are now well done wish you all the best wish i stayed on the farm and never went on to oil rigs
Thanks Eric! We all make choices that seem right at the time!
Very interesting video, thank you. Well done and good luck with everything you do.
Thank you very much Robert!
Great to hear your experience, what A levels did you do? How many cows are you hoping to get up to?
I did Business and economics, IT and also outdoor education. Hoping to buy around 30 calves this time next year!
All hail the mighty algorithm.

Hi Ben
Comment for engagement
Things you love to see!
What’s a council farm
Farms and land that the County council's own and then rent out to new entrant farmers (at least thats how it is here in Devon) on short term tenancy's.
