      @@RestorationApprentice not fixed it myself, a mechanic tried it but I think it was helicoil and only on the stripped bolt

      @@nikoskalogridis I used time-serts on all bolt holes, should be stronger then helicoil. But we'll see how it holdes up.

    Nice work! You should realy consider water blasting the aluminium parts and not painting. Paint will chip and doesn't nice.

      Thanks! Yeah, vapor blasting would be nice but I can't have it done anywhere locally. So I try to do what I can with what i got.

    just curious, do you have a plan in mind for how to clean the inside? im undecided between so many options, electrolosys, muriatic acid, white vinegar etc etc!

      it will be in one of my upcoming videos... I was planning on using white vinegar. Just keep in mind you'll have to neutalize it after with baking sode or something like that.

      Yeah vinegar seems like the safest/cheapest option… I’m also looking into the citric acid route too.

    Great to have 924 content again and SOOO GOOD to see not everything always have to be replaced with brand new parts ❤❤ A lot of this is overmystified and everyone always expect a full everything new, everything machined rebuild. Even when there is no need! This motor will be just fine. (I hope 😅)

    Did the distributor leak any gasoline? I did rebuild for a 6 cylinder MB and it leaked without the sealant

      Haven't tested it yet but it probably will, as with most people. But instructions that comes with the kit encourages you to try without sealant first.

      Glad to hear. It would fire up and stall immediately.... it was sitting for a long time. it was definitely a fuel issue, engine had good compression.

    Nice! Did you measure cylinder head flatness over the surface, every 924 block i measured has sunken quite a bit aorund the water port close to cylinder 4, it doesn't look like the surface was machined.

    Hi bro. I'm glad to start working on 924 restoration again. My 924 is also running thanks to the progress of the ITB and ME221 ECU work, and the body work is also progressing a lot. I'm going to have to rebuild my engine someday, and your videos will be a great help.

    2:15 my system has a different black box but it the same.. my plate looks like that one, a bit oiled but the car is running fine, could i just spray degreaser under de plate to take that "old oil" and not messing with more future problems? Or if i spray there ill end up with more things to fix..? Since some rubbers and seals are old im not sure..

    As far as i know, when you check oil level at dipstick you should not thred it in, just wipe put back in and out for corect oil level. Its probbly wroten on that dipstick to

      Filters are metal, so they can be cleaned. I'm missing one so I'll buy spares anyway.

      @@shalvamamaiashvili9065 I guess it possible but very expensive and a lot of work hours. With different cams, manifold and a tune. The cheapest option is to try finding an used b30 or b28 engine.

    Dang, that’s a lot of hydraulic lifters! 😂 Nice trick with the nylon strap to keep them in place during installation. I could almost feel your anxiety when torquing the head down, seems like the stud treads are holding up though. Great work!

      Luckily I reused old ones. I don't even want to imagine the cost od that many lifters. I had a better trick with magnets and a thin metal rod but I lost my magnests haha Yeah, I was stressing hard, but they appear to work fine, which is a relief.
