Very nice what was the most difficult cosmetic you changed
Still have any of these plastics ?
@@dstack18 Yes, I have all of them except the front.
@rubytheelite how much you thinking
@dstack18 After checking the cost of new panels. Which is over $2200 with tax plus shipping. I would take $700 plus shipping. That is for the panels you see in my videos that I replaced.
@@dstack18 Lol... No response? What were you thinking on cost? I'm flexible but not a charity.
@@rubytheelite sorry just got off work . I mainly need the bottom rockers . 700 is out of my budget. I've been snagging one piece at a time . But thought maybe you where just trying to get rid of them didnt wanna insult you with a bad offer because there's no used market that I can go off of
Love your videos thank you
I noticed that as well when I went to buy it. I was assured it would work. So far, it's worked perfectly!
The new relay works great! Its rated at 6 V!? 🤔Well, it works so lets no look a gift horse in the mouth.😉👍
Morphous all the way but if the Helix was EFI it would be a tough call.
I would love to get some of those reflective tire stripes for my Helix. Could you reply with information? I also use Port-A-Wall white wall tire inserts. They both 10” and 12”. People comment on them quite often. I wish I could show you my Helix.
I do indeed respect your opinion. You should absolutely do things the safest way. I am very impressed with your respect for the Honda Helix. I can see you are more than capable of keeping your Helix ship/shape. Have you seen the recent video of two guys and their wives? They rode about 1000 or so miles going through the big Apple on this year’s 9/11. Adventure Daily is their channel.
😎👍
Thank you. A very thorough and most excellent review. Both of your Honda Elite's are prime examples. Do you have today? I found a clean 84 and 2010 for about the same price. I them both. How did the Doctor Pulley sliders workout? Thanks again.
Buen trabajo <<<- Good job - I like
I have a 1999 Helix, 11k miles. I am preparing to replace the drive belt and service whatever else needs to be done while I am in there. Your videos are fantastic! Thank you!
Hey mayn i just got a helix with 9,000 miles. Thanks for all you videos and its my reference to all the work i need to do. Especially stocking up on spare parts. Any suggestions on exhausts i want my bike to sound lower less ratty. Will dyno it too adjust fuel and air ratio
I found my 99 helix on Craigslist for $400, it was sitting for several years. No rodent damage, but the same heater hose damage, I think the plastic that covers it is rubbing the hose, how many feet of heater tube did you use, thanks
do you have a link for where you got that carburator, for the life of me i can't find a direct link
🔥
Well done! For sure the most complete and like new looking Helix I have ever seen. Got addicted to your videos. Cheers from Germany.
I have watched a Lot of Helix Videos on YTube since I bought my Helix two years ago. Constantly fixing issues, slowly getting there but lots of sleepless nights, totally scratched hand etc. Found out the hard way that preferring original Honda parts is the better way. (ebay petrol pump lastet 400kilometers). The Honda original part cost me 300 Euro but works perfectly. Sometimes it are the little things like a seal missing at the air filter box, with me not even realizing since there was none when I took it apart. New Airfilter got wet, water in the box and of course it would not pull properly when it sucked all the water up.. Or that little whining sound from the speedo. One could not hear it from the outside but sitting behind my new tinted SECDEM windscreen it would just amplify and sounded like a Stuka over Poland. Exchanged the speedo cable, then the taker on the front wheel. Took the whole speedo apart and found lots of very fine metallgrind on the mechanical number counter itself. Cleaned it, oiled it lightly, Sirensound gone. Things like that. It can cost a lot of nerves and money and days or weeks of nice summer weather I could not drive because I waited for parts. Bought it for 1300Euro but I guess it cost me another 3000Euro maybe more to get it up to scratch. Shot bearings, steel wheels sandblasted and freshly laquered, new brakes, replacing the totally worn out Carburetor with a Keihin etc. Special holder for the Carburetor so it's not shooting the Rubber-intake and so on. Just saying, buying it is one thing but if one likes things to work properly be prepared to spend time and money. On Google you find "Helixaner". A guy, somewhere here in Germany who has lots of lots of useful Helix Info's on his site. Mostly German, some things for download in English. Your Videos are fantastic! Because they are titled Elite I never saw them. Wish I had, would have saved me heaps of time and scratching my head!😂 Subscribed now. Kind regards from Germany.
Awesome job, learned a lot, just bought a 2014 Honda ruckus a month ago and had to replace parts too because it sat for 2 years out in the weather

Don’t be shy, tell us where you got these parts 😊
@rtan050 If you watch the video series, I say where you can get each part I use.
Don’t be shy, tell us where you got it! 😁
Love your videos! I recently got a 93 helix. I did my oil change I understand there's an oil gauge but I usually change by color. I live near the ocean, and have alot of experience with aviation. I do not trust the oil Guage oil is cheap enough to change it when it gets dark. Also I don't drive far or long on average 24 miles a day so I opted for 10w30 partly cause I ordered the wrong oil so I'm just going through the gallon oops 😬 i use the oil Guage for belt and cvt maintenance. On average though at least 350 miles my oil is dark so I take it out around that time. I've heard alot cn250s to Guage my motors health most sound shotty at best. I recommend people don't go by the oil Guage that probably yah their motors are running black oil by the time it even turns a little red. I'm looking into installing oil pressure sensor and oil quality sensor that are accurate in the filter. And this is a dream but it would awesome to have two cvt belts on both sides of the rear tire....😀 domzeet know what would happen but I'll try it with a Chinese scooter Also final verdict on oil... I read the manual throughly and it gives you the oil regulations for wide range of oil types depending on your environmental conditions due to out side temperature. And oil operating temps, with viscosity grades reminding you I live in a place that never snows coldest it gets is 60 degrees f. So 10w aren't my first choice it's being commonly recommended so I don't deviate from the experts. If I put a jet turbine in the trunk I wouldn't be surprised. Also looking into wankel motors with 50 hp that would fit
Nice !! Congratulations 🎊
Hey man any info or idea on why my tails don’t get bright when I brake . It’s on just not engaging with either brake ?
Subscribe now ! Or your honda bike will hate you
I’d love your advice: I pulled the bottom shock bolt and, while trying to break the axel nut, the shock arm isn’t lining up with the bottom hole. Is there a trick? Is compressing it necessary? I know this is a shot in the dark, but as much as I can rebuild a caliper I just can’t seem to figure this one out even though it seems so simple. FYI: I’ve watched a *lot* of youtube videos for mechanical advice over the last 10+ years. Yours is by far the best. You genuinely deserve a tv show. Your voice is also perfect at 2x speed.
can you please put a link to the website that you purchase the OEM parts from
😮I hope this is it! I have done everything I can think of! I will let you know 😅
Good video..
Morpheus is my best I have a 2004 modle very comfortable
Do you have the model number for the win power bulb?
I have 1984 Elite 125 that has about 1200 miles but needs some TLC. Where do you get your parts? Having a difficult time sourcing especially like turn signal assemblies and other body parts? Thank you
@@dfish900 The only place is Ebay.
Thanks
@MacksDad I show part numbers as I use the parts on my channel. If you need a part number, watch the videos.
Thanks
@MacksDad Thanks for watching. I like the way I do my videos. Showing the part numbers as I do them. I see no point to add them to the description. You may find it easier, but I find it pure laziness for people who don't want to take the time to research the parts in the first place and want someone else to do all the leg work for them.
Honda helix
Well good morning how are you today? I have a question my 84 Honda elite. The headlight is stuck open. Any advice on how to fix it
Hello! I would purchase a service manual and follow the "Retractable headlight" instructions in Section 16. From 16-21 to 16-27 the manual gives you testing points for the timer unit as well as the main motor. This section also shows the mode of operation for the entire headlight unit. This would be a great starting point. Mine was sticking and I utilized this section. Good luck!
So I definitely understand the removal of the grease plate. I did that myself and follwed the same clean out procedure of the variator. Even put everything back in without any grease just as you did. For the rollers, though, I’ve heard it’s still best to at least use some graphite on them. Should I be leaving the rollers in there all dry? or should I consider putting graphite in there as a precaution?
@metroidmetalandfps Graphite is the worst thing you can use! It's dry and will end up everywhere you don't want it when the spinning occurs! I tried this once about 20 years ago and it caused belt slipping! I never used it again!
@@rubytheelite copy that I’ll stay away from it then. Have you had any issues at all down the line from keeping the grease out? Some people saying that Honda had it that way, they know what they were doing and I should have put grease back inside before reassembling. As much as I usually do everything OEM standard and don’t do any performance modifications, this does seem like one small modification that wouldn’t hurt it. Though I have heard the variator could retain too much heat down there without the grease and possibly overheat and cause issues. Not sure if that’s true, but wanted to know if you had any experience with that happening. I’ve noticed this is one of the only things that you don’t do exactly the way Honda recommends, so just figured I would ask since you seem to have a lot of experience dealing with the no-grease setup
Hey Im curious where did you find the OEM carburetor? Is there a part number for it? TY
I bought it NOS on Ebay. Only one I've seen new in years!
I resurrected a gold one.. I'm slowly but surely replacing and changing most everything on it. it only took a few hours to get it running. Went through carb.. air filter.. plug. Even has alarm on it. Its fast.. and sturdy. Next fix is trans gaskets.. oil. Check everything in there.
Great video...thanks!!!!
love your attention to detail, the filming and editing. I also appreciate how you clean everything to look like new after you remove a part or parts. It drives me nuts to see others removing and reinstalling dirty, greasy parts!
I found your channel after buying a 86 Helix at the beginning of the summer and 3 weeks later I find myself with a Honda Big Ruckus that I have been trying to buy for a couple of years. Your comments about getting side tracked by buying more and more scooters hit home. Love your content and knowledge as it applicable to other Honda scooters. I have left the Helix to concentrate on getting the Big Ruckus engine running which is a big task as many hands and mice have been in this Honda orphan scoot. It is this challenge that makes it interesting.. Here in Canada the fuel line issue is a gas issue as ethanol has destroyed many a small engine and drove people to electric powered equipment. Happy 40 birthday to Ruby the Elite.
Your videos are very helpful to me with my Elites. I've got a red 85 CH250 now but over the years since 1984 i've owned all the Elite models 80,125,150 & 250 Helix and Reflex. Before the Elite's I had a Passport 70 and a Spree 50 These bikes always make me smile
What cleaning products do you use most for your helix?
@@MacksDad Simplygreen Pro HD purple. On grease
What was new carb you put on?
I need to make a new key what is the code for it please is ita4L0D66 I have the exact same one I lost my key
I have a 2004 helix and the variator seems to be stuck. Like something is bolted behind. Any ideas to help get this out?
@joerivamonte3004 I would use some PB blaster to lubricate it then use a slide hammer to get it off if necessary.
How many miles honda recommend before oil change
awesome video thank you so much just bought an 06
Bought a non-running 2001 Helix about a month and a half ago. I’ve been slowly going through it and your videos have been, not only incredibly helpful, but also quite inspirational. Your Helix turned out phenomenal! Thanks for the slow meticulous delve into a really cool bike.
…Nope. I take it all back. You’re a stone-cold jerk for skipping over cleaning the grease out of the variator! …That was the single nastiest job I’ve done on this bike so far!! I guess it’s my own fault for not taking the time to find that purple Simply Green you’ve mentioned many times. …Lesson learned. I’m picking some up tomorrow morning! Thanks again!
Yeah, I can't post dirty videos on RUclips! LOL!!! It's a piece of cake with Simply Green-Purple! I mentioned it again just for you! LOL!!
