    I’d love your advice: I pulled the bottom shock bolt and, while trying to break the axel nut, the shock arm isn’t lining up with the bottom hole.
    Is there a trick? Is compressing it necessary? I know this is a shot in the dark, but as much as I can rebuild a caliper I just can’t seem to figure this one out even though it seems so simple.
    FYI: I’ve watched a *lot* of youtube videos for mechanical advice over the last 10+ years. Yours is by far the best. You genuinely deserve a tv show. Your voice is also perfect at 2x speed.

    Man this brings back memories, I have the same lift, I have a 2001 Helix, did all the maitenance just like this,,, runs like a dream, balanced tires, one thing I can say is that you can get more power out of this bike and keep it in the powerband, this bike sits at 5800 rpms at WOT, most maxi scooters including this one make max torque around 6k and max hp 7k,,,,I upgraded the main jet to a 135, used a K&N 1060 Pod filter, Dr pulley variator with 16G sliders, I can tell you this bike now sits in the powerband and outperforms the OEM setup, Mine will cruise 60 - 70 all day, no vibration or shaking and will max out around 80, the Helix maybe the best scooter ever, I have a Morphous as well that I did the majesty 400 motor swap, I am thinking about picking up another Helix to do super mods to it like air ride and perhaps turbo charge it,,,Nices videos man, great presentation, I enjoy them very much

    On my 2007 Helix the clutch does not block the oil drain. Did they change something? In the long run mechanics in Florida see better wear with gear oil despite the manual. Sulfur based ingredient designed to reinforce the surface molecules of steel gears and bearings. Most popular is Amsoil severe gear. We ride them year round here and put mileage on them. The Honda Goldwing's take five+ ounces of oil with all that horse power and calls for Hypoid gear oil. The metals used are the same. The Helix with little power also has the five+ ounce gear box. Engine and gears are an 'under stressed' design as described by Honda.

      Thanks for your comments.
      Since inspection of the clutch, belt and rollers are part of the service schedule, having the clutch cover off makes it much easier to drain the final drive oil as well as inspection of these items at the same time. There is always going to be an easier way to do things, I do agree. But... On my channel, I'm trying to promote taking care of all the scooters required items. It takes less than 5 minutes to remove the cover.
      As far as the oil..
      I've said it many times. You put what you want in your scooter and and I will promote what is in the service manual. My scooters have ran 30 plus years with regular maintenance and regular oil in the final drive without any issues. If you wish to promote better oils, I suggest you create your own RUclips channel.

    I have a 2004 helix and the variator seems to be stuck. Like something is bolted behind. Any ideas to help get this out?

      @joerivamonte3004 I would use some PB blaster to lubricate it then use a slide hammer to get it off if necessary.

    I ended up using BBQ paint on my muffler..but not the traditional flat paint...they also offer it in gloss (or semi gloss?) black. I really like the look of it and it has held up for 2 1/2 years now. Loving this series!

      Hi Steve! Thanks for watching! The BBQ paint I used on the Elite 50E turned color on me. Never had this problem before! I've used BBQ paint many times! Figured I'd try something new this time.

    So I definitely understand the removal of the grease plate. I did that myself and follwed the same clean out procedure of the variator. Even put everything back in without any grease just as you did. For the rollers, though, I’ve heard it’s still best to at least use some graphite on them. Should I be leaving the rollers in there all dry? or should I consider putting graphite in there as a precaution?

    • @rubytheelite
      @rubytheelite  25 дней назад +1

      @metroidmetalandfps Graphite is the worst thing you can use! It's dry and will end up everywhere you don't want it when the spinning occurs! I tried this once about 20 years ago and it caused belt slipping! I never used it again!

      @@rubytheelite copy that I’ll stay away from it then. Have you had any issues at all down the line from keeping the grease out? Some people saying that Honda had it that way, they know what they were doing and I should have put grease back inside before reassembling. As much as I usually do everything OEM standard and don’t do any performance modifications, this does seem like one small modification that wouldn’t hurt it. Though I have heard the variator could retain too much heat down there without the grease and possibly overheat and cause issues. Not sure if that’s true, but wanted to know if you had any experience with that happening. I’ve noticed this is one of the only things that you don’t do exactly the way Honda recommends, so just figured I would ask since you seem to have a lot of experience dealing with the no-grease setup

    For the weighted pads in the clutch. You can grab new pads and springs still for on Honda . Pretty simple install. Cheers !

      @rubytheelite  5 месяцев назад

      Yes, you're right! This is still an option for the Helix. It wasn't an option for my 84 Elite 125 clutch. It is still an option to have them resurfaced from JW as well. You just mail the weights to them, not the whole clutch.You're right taking the clutch apart is simple. Just didn't need to do it for mine. The Kevlar material they use is a step up from what Honda uses. Both are options. Thanks for the comment!!!! Welcome to Ruby the Elite!

    Hey Ruby, another great video. As always you do a great job of narrating your videos and showing step by step what you are doing.
    I have question for you, I notice like so many people on RUclips or people selling things on Craigslist that you hide your license plates and VIN from being seen and was wondering why? Is there a way someone can find you by license plates? I thought the DMV wouldn't give that information out. Just curious,
    Scott
