Knitting Anti-Haul: You Don't Need this Stuff!
Просмотров 28 тыс.Месяц назад
I'm back with a fun little video, where I try to save you money. I used to watch the one-and-only Kimberly Clark's anti-haul videos when I was still into beauty RUclips, so I decided to make a knitting-themed version. If you love any of these items, you do you. If you're trying to save money and have someone talk you out of spending it, you've come to the right place :)

I'm back with another podcast episode! A few finished objects today, plus a bunch of WIP's, and my summer knitting plans that I had to rip up and start over. Long story short, meeting gauge is hard, and knitting math is hard.

I'm back with another pattern round up video! Better late than never! Back with my podcast covering the month of March, and this felt like a big one. I finally finished my epic gift knit Folklore Cardigan, and the recipient was really pleased :) Despite spending the majority of my time on that project, I feel like I still made decent progress on other WIPs, and even had time for some new cast ons. I agree with all of your points. Speedy knitters may sound appealing , when one is first starting, but you mentioned a great observation… where on earth would one store all of those items. I may be rather fast but I often get asked and even pressured to answer how long ( exact hours) did it take to make an item . To me , knitting is about being intentional and slowing down. I am not a machine, and it’s perfectly okay to take my time .

    Great episode. I was watching a podcast Clare Likes to Knit. She is based in Brisbane and was showing her sweaters that she has knit from Norah Gaughan and has the one that you mentioned.

    I'm not sure what app you use to print your patterns, or if you pull them up as a .pdf, most printers should give you several options to reformat and custom scale to print something that is legible.

    A great video as always, I've not added anything to my to-do list but it's given me some interesting thoughts. (Especially around those cardigans... Somehow I got interested in buttons recently and it may very well turn out that I will be looking out for a project and colors to suit buttons instead of the other way around.) I've made the Amy slipover. I used totally not the recommended yarn, my yarn was mostly merino with silk and cashmere added and it was 1500 m in 100 g so I held it triple. I think I got gauge, at least stitch wise. I love this piece but I would never attempt to wear it without some lighter garment underneath. It is very open at the sides. Like, I don't want to show what this would show as I move around or as the wind is blowing sideways to me. I guess this depends on fit and fabric but, eh... nope. For me this is strictly a piece that I wear over something.

    I’ve just recently started knitting but when I got back into crochet a few years ago my husband bought me an expensive project bag with wheels and handle etc. very flimsy though. Then recently he brought home a tool bag similar sized with wheels and collapsible handle but it is sturdy and more pockets. I gave my old bag away as I prefer the tool bag. Recently I discovered mop buckets work great. They are good yarn bowls and you can throw your wip on top.

  • @Linuxike
    @Linuxike 2 дня назад

    I’ve seen the Claire Vest on my Instagram feed a lot and mostly it’s worn by younger fashion forward women whose chestical area has not yet given into gravity 😃 I would use the yarn for something wit more wearability. I find that if I have to try hard to make it work, it’s not worth it 🤓 Edit: I’m a graphic designer and I looove a good layout 🙌🏻 EU is A4, but you can reduce margin settings on your printer for better readability.

    Wow! More patterns to add to my ever growing list of Favorites/To Do! Some were already on my radar, like the Stag, the Letho, the Amy, but others I had never heard about and I'm looking forward to dive into these designer's pattern pages to see what they have to offer. When you mentioned making the November Oak with a gradient yarn as the background, I had images of the "Alaska" in my mind. That would really rock ! I went to a knitting/crafting event last weekend that was held outside in an apple orchard (Pomme de Laine) and it was cold, windy, cloudy and glorious! It was everything a knitter wants to feel to get into "sweater weather" vibe. I ended up buying a sweater quantity of Carpe Diem's Nueva to make the Whitmoor cardigan and/or pullover (not sure yet which) and I can already envision it taking form. My fingers are itching. As I'm watching your podcast, I'm finishing the first sleeve on the Wilfreda pullover with some gorgeous rustic natural color DK yarn by Les Brebis du Beaurivage and I just can't put it down. Soooo looking forward to wearing it this fall. I think we are privileged to live in an area - I live in Laval, Québec - where there are four seasons . As soon as we get tired of one, another one comes along! And we can make all the lovely patterns we covet and they will be appropriate for at least part of the year. Yé! Thank you for including those socks in your podcast, event though you won't go there. The Maple Leaf ones really spoke to me (I'm from Canada, eh?) and I have just the yarn to make these leaves with! Looking forward to hearing/seeing more of you in the near future

You know, I think that the vest you think is too big with the armholes and the low V could be worn really cute with a white.Tee . Just my opinion--I had made a lot of V-neck items in my 40s - - and in my 50s I had a open heart surgery so my large incision I don’t like to bare… but with the white tea and my V-neck items, it works for me. Thank you so much for today. I will be back to watch more.

    I think you can do a major difference on the Claire vest with the icord edgings so I think you could try finishing an armhole with the icord and see if you can get it smaller. And your plan to wet block the Cardi Cocoon before moving further is probably a good idea because it does look a bit small. I took mine from the closet to measure it and the shoulder seam is about 30 cm which is almost 12 inches. Silk is very slippery and it usually grows in blocking and in use.

    • @easilyknitfluenced
