EV Fire in Service Bay: Stuck on the Lift
I wish there was a better way to know what causes the fire
Yes, they should charge in parking garages. Should we let ICE cars in parking garages? They are at a much higher risk of catching fire.
Google is a pawn of the Government, Google manipulates searches, don't search for anything negative about Ev's, they'll hide the truth.
Aside from the risk of charging in buildings the idea that multiple charging stations will be set up is more a hope than reality as it would require significant upgrades to the local power grid.
Excellent question, and by this point we really should know enough about EV charging to make educated risk decisions but it seems (as an outsider to the problem, I deal with Aviation Safety) that a lot of the data is being suppressed. The writing is on the wall that a catastrophic risk exists, but without actual we can only make reactionary policies. I hope that it doesn't take another incident like the Triangle Shirtwaist Factory fire to change the code. Requiring fire suppression systems around EV charging stations seems like a no-brainer first step, but that carries a huge cost. Also- how much flow is required for the system to even be effective? Where should the sprinklers be placed? So many questions that NEED definitive answers before code can be written. Looking forward to the upcoming video with the actual NTSB data.
Yes
Why doesn’t the complex sue the car company
🍁🍁👌👌
😮 Wow! Thank you for the reminder to NOT park near an EV station! ❤ Question: Do you have any statistics on which brands, types of cars, or EV stations are more likely to have problems like this? ❤
That black room is so unnerving. Good to see folks talking about this.
NO EV's need their own parking land not garages. They explode and they are way to heavy causing garages collapse because they are so heavy. Both kill people
These garbage golf carts gotta go...!!!
This EV clown show must be stopped
Can they run a gas station in your garage-Same thing
We should never cater to a fringe of the population.
This is what "saving the planet" looks like, huh?
These vehicles need to be made illegal. They are not safe, harm the planet. Use child labor mining the rare earth minerals for the batteries and will prove to cost far more to maintain that ice vehicles.
05:19 Hey, it looks like the firefighter got stun from the batteries (concentrated water stream on large hose)
I'm sure the EPA said everything was fine with the environment around the burnt down warehouse, just like Palestine, Ohio .
I know it is irrelevant, who pays for that electricity ? The car owner on a credit card ?
Depends on the location. Some places give it away for free, and some require payment.
@@StacheDTrainingwell it's never really "free." The cost is just wrapped into the price of other services.
My friend is a garbage truck driver and crew person in the UK and they are being driven mad by fires caused by vape batteries - they having 1 to 3 fires a week now due to them - The response for years now has been to eject the load onto the roadway when a fire is found to be happening - it both help the firefighters fight the fire and it save the garbage truck from being damaged
Great video. One thing not mentioned is the rate of charge or speed of the charger that catches the batteries on fire due to thermal runaway while or just after charging. I think it would be a good idea to limit the speed or size of charger in close or confined areas. In an apartment garage where the ev is going to be parked overnight there is no benefit to having a charger that can charge the car from 0-100% in 30 min. In that case a slow charger that takes up to 8 hrs or so may be safer and is probably better for the car anyway.
99.99% of home/apartment chargers are 7kW or less. They are designed to charge overnight and not 30 minutes. Regardless, the charging of EVs is pretty save compared to the fire risk of ICE cars. Never mind all the carcinogens that ICE cars spew out into confined spaces.
Got it. I was just wondering if the ones catching on fire were fast DC chargers. Seems like 7k and lower would have very low risk unless there was some kind of malfunction in both charger and battery over voltage protection.
@@kc5mzd I don't know for sure but the DC fast chargers are an order or two more expensive so they are really only used as a method to charge during long road trips or for people who can't charge at home/apartment. Hotels also usually have 7kW chargers for overnight. The lower powered chargers are likely a lower risk (I have read charging at a slower rate is less risky) but both methods are still very low risk.
Just sue the owners of the evs.
(sarcasm) there are a MILLION E.V. fires per year .... but we don't have any ADDITIONAL data ?? .... am i the ONLY one that knows these @$$holes are lying to us ??
I am from Chattanooga and it's a scary thing that people could have died because of EVs charging in an attached parking garage. I don't live there now but I still know people there and would be afraid for them.
I DONT CARE WHAT PEOPLE SAY!!! EVs ARE INJURING PEOPLE!!!D3L3TING PEOPLE!!!DESTROYING THEIR OWN HOMES!!! DESTROYING OTHER PEOPLES HOMES!!!
In my mother’s basement parking garage in a retirement community there no EV allowed in the garage
EVs should be banned altogether
Nope. They're so heavy, they shouldn't even park in parking garages.
ruclips.net/video/KjBnq4B-YqY/видео.html
@StacheDTraining Thank you.
Is there a listing viewable by the public showing all makes and models involved in fires?
In theory, yes. Unfortunately, our reporting system is less than ideal. I'll be going into details in a future video.
I ask EV owners one question, would you charge your car overnight , in your homes garage if your children’s bedroom was directly above and asleep???
Dont buy EV. Simple fix
This madness will never end. Articles shilling for EV adoption are telling people to keep and charge their vehicles indoors to "keep the battery warm" in winter. When are the fire services going to do the right thing and publicly state that EV's are dangerous?
EV's are such a stupid idea. They are not anymore green and the batteries from mining to recycling are TERRIBLE for our environment. But i guess the liberals feel better...until their ev burns their house down lol
Why are Americans so stupid? China already banned EV's in parking garages due to lithium catching fire. Meanwhile in America, they park the EV in a parking garage....duhhh. Meanwhile idiot trolls are asking for affordable BYD EV cars, the very car that burst on fire in China.
I was working in the electrical room in a car park. I couldn't understand why we needed to fire proof the room. Its all concrete, what harm will a dire in this room cause? Then I realized its to protect the room from a car fire.
Just a quick question. The video description says the event occurred on Dec 11th, but the footage (at least the part I watched until a couple of minutes into the video) show Nov 22nd. So the footage is like a B-roll?
Wrong date in the description. It's fixed now.
EVs have had the merit to bring to the public attention the problem of cars fires, which used to happen just the same but nobody cared about, before
Current design of underground carparks has developed over more than 100 years. And they meet requirements of successfully extinguishing a hydrocarbon fire. EV do not use hydrocarbons but different chemistry so how can these be parked where safety of these chemicals have not been considered?
Why not, the experts say they are safe and sustainable.😊
Regarding the rates of fires in EV vs ICE vehicles, then I believe the metric in that data is true. HOWEVER, the metric chosen is highly misleading! Make the metric "number of fires per ICE/EV vehicle in the fleet" NOT "number of fires per ICE/EV vehicle sold that year". EVs are a younger technology, so they _should_ be having a lot less fires. ICE is an older technology, with older vehicles in the fleet (so more likelihood of fires occurring). By choosing the metric of "per vehicle sold" vs "per vehicle of that type in the fleet", the EV evangelists are hiding the relatively high rates of EV fires, by including all the older ICE vehicles (which weren't bought that year and skews the statistic). This also doesn't take into account that the $$ value of damage caused by an EV fire is very often WAYYY higher than on an ICE vehicle fire. Maybe an even better metric would be "$$'s of damage caused in fires, per total EV/ICE vehicle in the fleet" (- include the house $$ cost and destroyed parking lots, the 50 other cars burned up when an EV goes up, etc).
Having 10 plus EV fire in a underground parking area. That kind of heat would buckle steel and soften concrete
POOR RUclips COMMIES DONT LIKE HAVING THEIR BS CALLED OUT REMEMBER YOU HAVE THE RIGHT TO FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION AND THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS A RIGHT TO CENSOR STAND UP TO THE COWARDS AND SAY WHAT YOU WANT TO SAY COPY AND PASTE IF YOU AGREE
Ban EVs from all public places - they bare a huge catastrophic fire hazard.
EVs are dangerous.
Every apartment building should banned EV from the underground parking area
EVs should be banned until they find safer batteries
I work construction in Canada. All EV chargers are in the very bottom of underground parking. No incidents.....yet.
I would question whether a fire blanket would do much more than give false comfort or a small delay given the self fueling nature of EV battery fires. All that would happen is that the fire is concentrated under the blanket and would still eject flames and hot gases while gasifying other conventionls flammables to add to the fire. The whole underground carpark charging idea is fraught apart from random thermal runaway. I look at EVs in underground hospital carparks as a potential catastrophe to critical assets. Much simpler and taken for granted than a few cans of fuel when some nutcase/terrorist realises the potential.
Chattanooga is a 15 minute city, their entire plan going forward is based upon EV
