THIS is how you get over 250k Miles out of an EV!
In this video we are going to tell you exactly how to get a quarter of a million miles on your new EV without having to replace the batteries!
Using a Lightning for example, right now they have a charge of about 260 miles worth of range on a singular charge. This allows for 1,000 charge cycles.
What causes the biggest concern for batteries long term, is heat. One of the things that can cause this is constantly using a fast charger. Some of the things that you can do to fix this is letting your battery rest before charging it. Another thing you can do is reduce your state of charge. The last tip is to leave your vehicle plugged in during very very low or very very high temperatures.

Tug Of War! F-150 Lightning VS Diesel Super Duty!
Wow. Never put a ball on a hitch under that sort of load. The ball could break off and could be catastrophic. You’re also putting unnecessary rotational force on the hitch. Take the hitch out, slide the loop into the receiver and slip the pin through the loop.
When you get to 250K miles let me know.
"I drive 80 miles an hour EVERYWHERE I go'". I love this guy!! I'm an instant fan!!!
I dunno, a guy on the Facebook F150 Lightening Owners group was told $53k to replace his batteries and they refused to honor the warranty because a stick broke off a cooling line connector. That’s Ford Though for ya!
So the comment I see going around FB groups to ABC, always be charging is wrong? It makes sense to me to only charge when you need to, to preserve charge cycles.
Why are you wearing sunglasses? 😂😂 are you hiding something😂😂
F-150 Lightning all electric pro is the best truck available in my opinion. I bought a 2024 and I am floored by the tech and the comfort and the stule. Wow. I would buy it again.
You don’t pronounce “longevity” properly. That’s about all I got out of this video
The question is would have is, yes i spend more on fuel, but someone who is always on the go, how long does it take to fully charge? My current 2019 ram fills up with 50 dollars and i have to fill up every 6 days, and i spend about 3-5 mins at the pump…so a year 50x4 for example, 200 a month, 200x12, 2400+320 in oil changes, cause my oil changes are about 80 each time since i do em, thats 2800 give or take, and i spend 5 mins at the pump…if it takes 4-6 hours to fully charge….then its not worth it at all and my Ram was 45k, 52k after financing….
I hate being followed by this damn truck. The lights are way too strong for nothing! It blinds me even on my side mirrors. Ridiculous!
Very nice video!
why it costs 100 000$?
As a Ford dealer, this shit is beyond corny.
You should be standing there with 2 thumbs up and a big sh!t eating grin. It’s an awesome truck.
Yeah wtf he works for Ford and has thumbs down ..bloody wanker 😂😂😂
The cover link has you standing there with your lip pooched out and a big thumbs down. Yet, you have nothing but Good things to say about the truck. Makes no sense, and is misleading to anyone browsing around for info, Why do that ?
Was scared at first your title was a lil misleading
Need updated numbers on this, as battery's have gotten cheaper
Love this guy he’s great
Hate them or love them. They are the future and eventually all auto dealerships will produce more and more and more of them which will drive the cost down and everybody can afford them. Thank you for your wonderful video and positive outlook on it😮
The rebates on the f-150 lightning are crazy right now. People are getting $15k plus off an ER Lariat which means roughly $65k. That's gotta get it pretty close to a similarly equipped ICE version.
Fun to watch!!! The F250 is a real beast!!
keep the battery between 20 and 80 percent for long life. then you only have 60 percent typical use. but I have never heard of a 250000 mile EV. How do you avoid heat in the summer? I want fast charging to minimize inconvenience which hurts the battery. EVs big weakness is charge times.
I drive an electric vehicle and enjoy it but trying to get any car company to do warranty work that isn’t a recall is extremely difficult.
As soon as this guy started mocking someone else's voice I lost all sense of his sincerity.
good info thx
This is like saying a gas powered vehicle can last 300k miles. Sure it can with a new transmission or other major work. The lightning will last 250k, but not without a few battery module swaps during that time
I had a 2024 rental for two months Hated everything about it I bought a Tundra and love it
Charge cycles is another reason they do not want Chinese EV's in the west. Most of them have LFP chemistry batteries. Which are routinely good for 6000-8000 charge cycles to 80% depth of discharge.
Nice balanced review. Too many people looking at it like its junk because it can't do everything perfect. It likely works great for the majority of truck users. If you can charge at home, don't tow really heavy stuff a long way, and don't do a tonne of long distance travel, this vehicle is amazing. And even the 'long distance' is fine if you're not in a hurry .
compare to Tesla or Rivian this is dump of shit
Bro fast charging heat is not that big of a factor
Great video! I do the same, I set my truck (Sierra EV) to charge just to 65% each day, which gives me a bit over 300 miles. Plenty for even an unexpected trip out of town. I’m amazed by some of the comments. People with no experience with these vehicles are certain they’re bad, based on reasons that all of us using them can verify are untrue.
This video makes me want a gas motor that much more
its not about replacing the battery when its dead, its having to replace because you tank is only 150 miles after 7 years
That would suck, if it reflected reality in any way. Batteries are warrantied under federal law for 8 years. If they lost that much 7 years then warranty replacements would be universal. A few percent loss is all that’s expected in modern batteries. After 20 years you’ll still not have lost that much.
Look fantastic, but my only question is how long battery last which in my opinion will be a reason why I will not use an electric vehicle now, the cost of change a damage battery or not working battery is like buying a new car. I definitely keep gas car for now until the industry make less expensive batteries or a different technology.
Crazy. I just bought a 24 Flash today not knowing it didn’t come with “phone as key” or a garage door opener. Mind is blown that those 2 options aren’t standard. Traded in my Mach E GTPE. Disappointed to say the least but other than that the truck is amazing.
Same!! I fully expected phone as a key on my 24 flash and am really frustrated it isn’t here.
That’s good info about the cooling of the battery before charging. Never thought about that thank you sir.
7 dollars a gallon up here in the Peoples Republic of Canada too.
What is the operating cost for the Lightning if you don't have off street parking and must use public charging, both Level 2 and DCFC?
When you buy a house, do you ask how much it cost to replace the foundation? When you buy a ICE vehicle, do you ask how much it cost to replace the engine? This argument about cost to replace the battery when buying a new EV is completely retarded and irrelevant. You're worrying about something that happens less than 0.1% of the time. Of course, you think it happens more frequent because every time it does, someone posts it on the internet, but for the other 500 000 EV owners for that 1 that needed a new battery love their vehicle. So no, replacing a battery is not a thing we worry about. Might as well worry about getting hit by an asteroid while you're at it.
Need to add cost of maintenance on the 5.0 oil change etc.........too!!!!!😅
Now that Musk supports Trump, everyone in the South should buy a Tesla...and save the planet
Takes my lightning 13 hours to charge from 40% to a 100% at a medium charger the one at the stations. It takes like 4 days at an outlet an as for rapid chargers i still havent seen one local an i live in nyc. Electric is not for a vehicle ur suing for vacation
He's a typing salesman.
Georgia has 1 cent per kWh from 11 pm to 7 am.
He actually said he doesn't haul things in his truck, he only hauls his kids, so why buy a truck?.
6’3” tall.
PAID ACTOR
That's exacly my point. I'm driving EV cars for more than a yard ( Kia Niro EV and Tesla Model 3) and dude, I love it. It's not about saying the planet, it's not about saving money: It's all about convenience. I have the FPL Charver witch I pay $30/m and I can charger both cars as mutch I want and it's SO nice to get home, plug the car relax, enjoy family and next morning the car is ready to rock for another 300 miles. It's life changer. My next car gonna be a EV truck and F150 Lightning is on my radar. I'm and IT guy. I have no towing needs carry have stuff all the time, but I want the praticality of a Full Size truck when I need it and that's at least 50% of the truck market-share. In-town people that don't work with it, but whant a big, confort and pratical car to comute and pickup stuff that Cosco and The Home Depot.
I think they are 'ok'. I personally like EVs but the costs are high, insurance is ridiculous, range anxiety on any long trip, and resale is terrible. I still have a 'desire' for one, but can't justify it at this time. They do have great features, great speed/torque, and can save you some serious cash compared to gas in the long run. Glad you like yours!
The thumbs down on the thumbnail is a little misleading.
