On 7 July 1977 the IRA murdered Andrew Johnston, 26. Married father of a baby girl. RUC police detective investigating after caretaker John McConnell noticed a break-in at Carrick School, Lurgan, Co Armagh, Northern Ireland, during a routine check in the school holidays.
Booby trap exploded in desk of Principal Allister Black, Unionist UUUP member. Another policeman and the caretaker were injured. Mr Black was not present

Reserve policeman shot from stolen van near the Catholic Chapel in Aughnacloy, Co Tyrone, Northern Ireland, as he arrived with colleagues to put out cones and prepare traffic for fortnightly market day. Burnt out van found Revelle Road, near the order with the Republic of Ireland.

On 3 July 1976 IRA terrorists murdered William Miller at Butcher`s gate, Londonderry, Northern Ireland, next to the Bogside, soldier, aged 19 from Larkhall, Lanarkhire, Scotland, shot at vehicle checkpoint around 8am. On 2 July 1972 IRA terrorists murdered Hugh Clawson of Shannon Street and David Fisher of Nore Street. 2 Protestant civilians found by children shot dead on a Sunday morning, on waste ground near Cliftonville Cricket Club. Joint funerals proceeded along Old Park Rd, North Belfast, Northern Ireland. They had been walking home from social clubs after midnight.
