  • On 27 July 1977 the IRA murdered James McFall, 40. Married father of 5. Postman/off duty UDR Corporal soldier, shot at 8am, through the glass in his front door of his Woodvale Avenue home, North West Belfast, Northern Ireland. Mr McFall had just returned from completing an early morning postal shift.
    Mr McFall was found dying by his wife and son, who were present in the house at the time of his murder. Mr McFall died in the arms of his son (15) and his body was interred on his daughter`s birthday (8)
    Minister: "Over Jim McFall`s body, we are catching still more frightening glimpses of the monster we have let loose in our midst."
    Mr McFall had served in the Royal Ulster Rifles 1965 - 1972.
