Pairing a song to the activity is the one that stood out for me. THANK YOU.
You're welcome, that's one of my favourites too!
The doorway, the phone the tv, LOLOL I have gone into the laundry room to get only a pillowcase and come out an hour and a half later. Lost in space!
The struggle is real!!
Oohhhh yes...I can so relate🙄😕 Thanks for sharing my reality Jess and helping me with tools to navigate and try new ways...🩵🙏
Not a problem :) I'm glad it was helpful, you got this!
Great video, it really helped me, I'm not alone!
Glad to hear it! You're definitely not alone
Thank you so much!
You're welcome!
The doom scroll 😂tell me more? Ps my 350 much 'needed' cords are in a box, triples of ethernet, modem cords you never know? 😊
Just what I needed. I’m terrible for impulse spending and often find books I’d forgotten I’d bought or items of clothing, still with the labels attached, at the back of the wardrobe. And they’re not cheap items either. Thank you.
You are welcome! I hope some of the tips are useful for you
Great tips, and I could relate to everything. I have a walk-in understairs cupboard which is a mess. I’ve attempted to tidy and sort it several times, but with these tips, I think I can finally accomplish this. Thank you. I have subscribed. 😊 👍
Awesome!!! Let us know how you go :)
When she said "You are not your mess" i felt so relieved I started to finally laugh about this.
That's so great, made me smile to read this! :)
Thank you for this video. I didn't realize that I had ADHD until my 50s when I was working with dyslexic readers and realized I was like the ones with ADHD but without the H. Now, years later, I am realizing that my struggles with depression over many years are very related to my self esteem issues for not being able to do what everyone else was able to do so easily. It is helpful to know that there is a way to seal with the distractions and not just have to live with them.ontrol
You are most welcome, it's wonderful to see you're so open to learning about your ADHD and how you can best manage it. Best of luck with it, you're already halfway there
🤣
Thanks Jess, has been perfectly timed to get some admin done. Thanks!
You are very welcome, glad to hear it helped!
"Much harder to get started than it is to keep going" So true ❤
doorway! the secret to life! thank you.
You're very welcome!
Great put together vid. Love accent. Need more hair, girl!
I have an accent? lol... glad you enjoyed it!
Surviving the Apocalypse might depend on those power cords!
So true!!! Except when I imagine an apocalypse, there's no power lol
Oh my god, the doorway part made me feel so seen 😂😭 Thank you for the helpful tips!! 🫶🏻
You're so welcome!
This is great. Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Sometimes though, it CAN be the environment, the people, society, cost of living, climate. Living in the uk, the climate is so unpleasant that that alone drives me to look at emigrating.
For sure, all those things can contribute to overwhelm! For me, if I focus on the things out of my control, my head spirals pretty quickly, so I turn my attention to the things I CAN control and make whatever improvements I can :)
Had to chuckle when you said about 'doorways'!!
The struggle is real!!! Thanks for watching :)
#4 men grow out of their ADHD, ahh no they just grow up and get wives 😅
Very helpful and entertaining! Thank you!
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for watching :)
Thanks, the doorway hit home for me. I'm really starting to see ADHD traits in myself.
The more videos you watch, the more chance you will uncover it! Thanks for watching, be safe in those doorways!!!
„More of a fire hazard“ really hit hard. Not only have I been diagnosed with ADHD, I am also a volunteer firefighter. The amount of flammable materials (clothes, papers, cardboard boxes, more clothes, oh hey, I was looking for that the other day, wtf, what is that and where the hell did this come from etc.) stacked three feet high in places would qualify my apartment as a hoarder’s home when looked at through the eyes of a first responder. If I think about having to enter my place the way I would enter a burning apartment, I get serious case of „Hell naw, this is going to be SUCH a royal pain in the neck“. In such places, it is SO easy to trip and fall and trigger an avalanche of junk that might even bury you. Luckily there is no actual trash, food residue or other biological materials in those doom piles of mine and therefore it thankfully lacks the unique smell you have in many hoarder’s homes. But there is so much dust… Strangely, if I am presented with a system that is well organized and where everything is labeled and has a place where it lives (just like you have on a fire engine), I can work extremely well in that system. It’s just that I don’t have a real system of my own that I can live in. This also has to do with some degree of self respect, the ability to focus (or lack thereof) and squirrel brain. Working on that, though. I am fighting my doom piles one 15 minute interval at a time. And I keep finding things that I thought I had lost and purchased new again. So yay, bonus spares, I guess…..
It's great you can look at it with that unique perspective! I have worked with a couple of clinical level hoarders in the past where the home was far from fire safe, which is why I mentioned it. 15 minute intervals are great, and yay for bonus spares! Thank you for watching, and for the incredible work I'm sure you do as a firefighter and volunteer.
Omigod doorways! What a great tip to stay on task
I'm glad it was helpful!!! Thanks for watching :)
Great video thanks. Other than not sticking to journeling. Security/privacy is my biggest fear.
Yes that can be a big worry! That's one of the things that prompted me to move onto audio and video files that I store on my phone. Thank you for watching :)
Amazing tips. Thank you so much
You're so welcome! Thanks for watching :)
well then i guess taking my meds with a coke or coffee isn't great XD oopsie!
Better to learn now than in ten years I guess!!!
This a really good succinct video. I'm adding it to my motivation playlist. Thank you for making this.
Thanks for the feedback! And you are most welcome :)
Thank you so much for making this video! I grew up with my mom taking care of everything for me. Into adulthood, I had such a hard time completing tasks and staying organized. I laughed at so many things in this video because THIS IS ME!! I thought it was cool how several of those ideas, I had to learn and teach myself to do things that way, like breaking big tasks up into smaller ones, using music to keep me on task, and staying in one area until it’s done (well, mostly done). 😆 One of my favorite tricks is to look at a counter or table or desk and say, I’m going to put 5 things where they belong, and then just do that. Then do 5 more. Or not, just do what I can. I’ve realized I’m not good at making decisions because they’re so final sometimes. I’m learning from videos like this, so thank you again for all your tips!! 🙂
It made me smile ear to ear to read this! I'm glad you're learning and that it made you laugh!
I'm going to try this starting when I get home from work tonight. Thank you. Never considered if I have ADHD or not, but you described me to a T
You are most welcome! Let us know how you go!!!
I was advised to try 500 mg of Acetyl L-carnitine by my neurologist, available at Amazon.
I wanted to declutter my closet three weeks ago. Guess who's had a giant pile of clothes on the floor for the past 2 weeks and 6,5 days 😬
I used to do that with my pantry :( Hopefully if you make it into smaller piles, it will be easier to tackle!
Does the fridge door count as a door?
I'd say, "yes".
HAHAHAHA solid advice
Great question!!! Possibly it does, if you have a tendency to then get distracted cooking or taking snacks to the lounge!
Yes humans are meant to be in Mother Nature while having connection!!! Beautiful treelined backdrop ! =D
Thank you! Cheers!
Yes break it down!
Baby steps for the win!!!
Very good, practical, and reasonable tips! Thank you!
You're very welcome!
Hi! When I saw the title to this video I admit I thought, "Duh! We all know being outside helps lots of things so why is this video almost 8 mins? I don't have time for that." Sorry, it's true. But I decided to let it play while I was doing something else and ended up watching it. You brought out a lot of good points and I like the way you shoot your videos. Well done! It led me watching your other videos. I see you're still new to this but I hope you continue. From what I can tell so far, you have something positive and beneficial to contribute to contribute to the ADHD conversation. Thank you! P. S. I love all of your earrings! 😄
Thank you for your honesty!!! I think that when I see videos more than 2 minutes long too LOL. I really appreciate your feedback and will definitely keep going! This is the first comment on one of my videos and I can't thank you enough :) And yes, I do love a cool set of earrings! Thanks for watching and taking the time to comment!
I've noticed that when I wake up grumpy and feeling like the day is going to be bad and I'm not up to accomplishing anything that the mood could just be temporary and not to give up the whole day yet. Wait and see how I feel as I wake up more. So, your video speaks to this idea and helps me be more aware and in tune with my feelings and body so I can know what might be driving my mood or the feelings I have sometimes that things are just too difficult. Thank you!
Thanks for the feedback! Great to see you already have so much self awareness!
Have to commit to 1 minute of journalling just to start every day. Probably applies to all other tasks that you think will take too long. Exercise the brain just like any other muscle.
100% - It's a concept that can be used to set up any task!
This is an absolutely great thought, and I wish everyone that they can do exactly that. But every single adhd person I know suffers from crippling executive dysfunction. "Just doing a task for 1 minute every day" is for some of us as if you'd tell a person with severe depression to "just go out for a walk, you'll feel so much better". They know (and we know), but the illness doesn't let us. That's why it's sometimes considered to be a mental disability. Dis-ability. Like in not being able to. So if you find yourself in a situation, where you would "just have to do this or that" and you can't: it's okay. It's not your fault. You're not a bad person. Let's try again tomorrow.
We must learn to get our dopamine from self love, not spending without limit on items that makes us feel significant/different.
Absolutely :)
Walking and getting that oxygen flow in the head is so important for our physical and mental health. Great tips! =)
Thank you! Can't beat fresh oxygen!
Yes! Hungry seems to be my most volatile emotion haha.
OMG me too... I get hungry and my partner is on alert and ready to find me food ;)
