What is, 'Supressed Stimming?' 🤔🥺❤️
Просмотров 104 тыс.День назад
Did you know that some autistic and ADHD adults supress their stimming? 🥺❤️ My Mom stims in private, and has since she was a small child. ❤️ The doctor says it is not healthy to suppress it, but it is very hard to change a habit after 49 years.❤️ She agreed to let me show this, though she is worried what people will think. But noone should be ashamed of stimming. That is what she taught me. ❤️ ...

You could make taking care of personal hygiene and eating a part of getting ready to have a super successful and effective prep routine you do before a hyperfixation session.

Thank you so very much for saying how I to felt ,my 2 older children don't speak to me I've never met my grandkids I'm rasing my son who's 20 and autstic here at home there is a 10 year gap between dylan and my next youngest. I'd give anything for them to forgive me I wish I knew about my own adhd and autism years ago I was dignosed with many other things your video describes my parenting to I was a very fearful mum and got over stimulated and got angry at my kids I was dignosed 6 years ago but I feel it's to late for my older children to forgive understand even tho I loved them so much and still do ,I have an amazing rrletionship with my son here at home .who is my whole word it's just sad when situations like this happen in family's that the other siblings get hurt to because .my older kids don't want anything to do with me . I'm going to share ur video in hopes my older kids will one day come talk to me and have forgiveness in their hearts we all make mistakes. And it doesn't help when ur miss understood. And have no support raising ur kids

Recently, stumbled upon your videos. My son (23) has ASD & ADHD. In watching your videos (and of others, online), I’m starting to think that I may very well be on The Spectrum, as well; quite a revelation, at my age. Btw, I love your mom’s clothes. Does she make them herself? Or, buy at a vintage shop? Both you and your mom are very photogenic. And, YOU should pursue a career in the Performing Arts! You seem to be a natural! Take care 🫶🏼

While I understand that "trick or treat" is an implied threat, I also feel like Toren is onto something here. There were a few Halloweens past when I would dress up as a Miss America corpse, with wilted flowers and my crown sliding off my ratty powdered hair, rocking slowly in a rocking chair holding the candy bowl in my lap. But with a vacant stare until the kids came near me and if they were cool enough to approach, I'd drop the act and give them candy like a normal person 😂 There really are endless possibilities if you turn the tables!

The WORST business model is one that takes mundane human behavior and "medically criminalizes" it for profit. Are you bored? You need a life long pill for that. Are you nervous? You need a life long pill for that. Are you sad? You need a life long pill for that. Etc etc with each range of human emotion. Put down that phone and STOP being PREY, If you still can...

No thank you is the best reply! Having autism is black and white (there is no gray) so our answers are truthful and to the point, which can hurt neurotypical individuals (or anyone) because we don’t have a gray area (black & white.) People can understand no thank you. Even though they still might wonder why (no thank you) it is “less offensive.” 😊

Thank you so much for this. I never know what to do when my husband has a meltdown. Everything i can think to do just makes it worse. It's not easy to be vulnerable like this but you are helping so many. Mama Wolf, you should be so, so proud of your family. This young man is strong and pure. He is a great role model for people tuning in.

Aww, you have a chewie too! My five year old son hasn't been formally evaluated or diagnosed yet, but its becoming clear to me that he probably has ADHD and/or autism. I'm in the process of trying to get him to chew on his "chewie" and to keep it around his neck. It makes me happy to see a teenager wearing one so I can show him it's nothing to be worried about.

I’m autistic and I have done this kind of stimming before but never hard enough to injure myself. I think I have figured out the why though. My understanding is that banging your forehead brings blood to that frontal lobe part of your brain, which deals with memory and problem solving among other things. Stress can cause decreased functioning in the frontal lobe. But stimulating blood flow to that area can be sort of a stress reducing hack. By activating that part of the brain that normally functions less when stressed you kind of trick your body into feeling safer and less stressed which is why it feels good, like he said in the video. The impulse for an autistic to hit their forehead is actually kind of a clever stress reducing hack. (This is my current understanding but I could be wrong but it does make sense.) I know it helps me calm down when I’m super stressed and my body instinctively wants to do that. Again not hard enough to cause any damage just enough to encourage more blood flow to that area of the brain. Pushing on your forehead with your fingertips is an alternative that can produce a similar result. (Please be kind with any comments to my comment.)

Ah yes! After around five-ish minutes of talking to my friend group I can quietly slip away into my corner! It is honestly more of a wall pocket I. The game room at my youth, but it is two corners smooshed together. I will then stay there in absolute contently peaceful silence until someone turns on the lights! Also my youth friends lol! I love them but your girls gotta recharge!😅🫶🏻
