Production babies are the babies born to the production staff during the entire production of the film. It takes years to make a Pixar film, so plenty of time for a few employees to become parents 😊

My local cinema has two kid specific theatres. They have a slide, lower volume, dim lighting, and an intermission. I always tell my ASD buddies that if they want to see a kid movie, those sessions are the best option if they can't make the sensory session.

We had those in our town on Long Island NY too! Was great bc the kids could do their thing without feeling shame or causing disruptions. We would also sit all the way in the back away from others in regular theaters so my son could get up and walk the aisle or wiggle around or whatever.
PS: my mother and grandmother hated shoes, and i inherited that as well.... altho I can keep them on if necessary, I am barefoot most of the time! Love you guys.

I had a friend in high school who could have been Toren's twin: From his voice and linguistic mannerisms to the pacing with gestural flourishes, the similarities are uncanny. I realize now that my friend and I were both undiagnosed autistics; at the time we didn't think anything of each other's quirks - we were just a couple of the "eccentric" kids - being different may have more specific/specialized labels now but it's nice to realize that some people have always been able to appreciate and respect neuroquirky as a shared badge of honour.✊

My "tell me you're AuDHD without telling me you're AuDHD" from this video :
    1) Sudden realisation that my toe-walking as a kid was potentially related to being ND. And this was such a common occurrence that my family actually took me to a doctor about it and I got tests ran and everything.
    2) Pausing part-way through to check the comments section if someone has already explained what a production baby is.
    3) Wanting to wait for post-credits scenes but also being super impatient and not sure if I can wait that long.
    4) PACING
    5) Infodumping immediately after watching something
Inside Out is a special movie for me because I wasn't planning on seeing it but went on a whim and it turned out to be so good. So I'm very excited to see Inside Out 2, and I appreciate Toren's review.

I think that's the cleanest movie theater floor I've ever seen! I dislike having shoes on too, but from my experience in theaters, the floors were ALWAYS sticky and gross. My shoes would stick to it, so its one place I always keep my shoes on (unless I'm in the seats with a bar in front of me then ill put my socked feet up). The half in half out of shoes thing i do too. I'd rather none when possible 😊. I'm glad you're able to get out and enjoy the movies. The waiting at the end definitely feels forever for the after credits scenes! 😁

I got some loop plugs for sleep and hate them. I can hear myself breathe lol. I've often had a hard time at movies too. The sound, vibrations and brightness. Could never sit near the front. putting tapestries/rugs/thick curtains up on walls is notably effective for sound dampening, and to add to that you can put draft stoppers (mine looks like a dog lol) in front of door cracks and on window sills. this has the effect of silencing the space you sleep in without using any kind of bodily accessory that affects movement or may "trap" your inner sounds in your head (i hate that too) and it has the added benefit of looking very nice.

I'm 23, I only recently realized that I have autism (and maybe ADHD?), and I don't have an official diagnosis (in my country, autism is a childhood diagnosis, it's just starting to be recognized in adults - and now it's only in the capital, far from my city). And seeing examples of people similar to me on the Internet is so inspiring! This saves me from loneliness and the feeling that my differences are not real. I really like your channel!

I am 49 yrs old and currently was blessed to take my kiddos to see a movie about 6or maybe 7 years ago now. I would love to take them again before they become an adult but food and bills make it so we are unable to do things as such. The only free thing that we do regularly is walking around the neighborhood when it’s calm. There’s a lot of shootings around here so we don’t go walking everyday. Much crime in my area nowadays

Oh. Oooooooh! Suddenly my own life makes a little sense. I always hate wearing shoes, I wear them for work but I prefer sandals and being barefoot in every other part of my life. As a kid I would dump the trash barefoot and it drove my family nuts that I wouldn't put shoes or even socks on to go outside. I also have flattened the backs of all my shoes because I wear them like slip ons instead. Which also drove my family nuts. To this day as a 30 y/o I still do that. The only time I enjoy snug sneakers is for morning jogging. I will deal with cold feet in winter rather than wear slippers or even fuzzy socks.
I do the ear covering a lot too Toren. I have misophonia as well as AuDHD. I have noise cancelling headphones but they make my ears sweaty and they give me a headache from pushing into my sides. So sometimes those overwhelm me and I choose to just find a quiet room to hide in with water running or fingers in ears instead.
I love seeing Toren bring his stuffed kitty. I brought my teddy bear with me for my 30th birthday out of town, and left it in the car for activities but held him the entire time in the car.
His instant masking hurt to see, as I do that at work too, and just about anytime I'm in public as I live in a small town, but seeing his joyful stimming the rest of the time is so wonderful to see. Mama raising him right and with love. ❤

I also take my shoes off all the time, so I use flip-flops! They are really easy to take off and they are comfortable even when you are walking with your feet half out (slides and especially crocs have an elevation that kind of hurt when you do that on it). Not really a fan of the material of cheap flip-flops from walmart, but a really good pair from havaianas is definitely my favorite shoe! Another point for me is that it is the closest you can get to being barefoot, I have a few pairs of slides but I feel like it touches the top of the feet a bit too much.

  • @RivLoveshine

I love being barefoot! I definitely get sensory issues from having shoes (and especially shoes and socks) because my feet get sweaty really quickly. I can't stand being sweaty. Awful feeling!
Don't restrict being barefoot too much, please. There's actually a whole community of people who go barefoot. I remove my shoes whenever I can. I'll wear them if I need to for safety issues (hot ground, working with hazardous stuff, cooking for people in a kitchen, etc.). I'll also wear them if I'm wanting to go somewhere or do something and I'm told "no shoes no service" or "you legally have to wear shoes/we require it". I think this is the best way to go about it. Wear shoes when you need to, but not when you don't need and want to.

I had the hardest time getting anything on my son’s head but one day, I was able to slip headphones on him and you could see the surprise on his face that the sounds were no longer loud. I had to take them everywhere after that. Then he only needed them when people let off fire works and during thunder storms. Eventually, he didn’t need them. Then covid lockdown came and we had to stay at home more than most due to being high risk and his age group. He has started asking for them again. I think we have had a similar issue with water and baths. He’s regressed a bit again. Just when you get it figured out, it changes! He’s 12 so I wonder if some of it has to do with hormones. It’s amazing that there’s only a 4 year age difference between Toren and my son. They are very similar otherwise though. Right now my son is very petite. I sure worry about him but I was as well. I would walk on tip toes when I was little and doctors told my mom that I would need surgery. Fortunately she didn’t listen and I walk fine. I have a very overly sensitive sensory system. It’s awful. Going to the movies hurts my ears and eyes too. My eyes don’t like a lot of movement or light, especially blinking or moving light. I actually hate walking barefoot usually though I’m fine with sand and plush carpeting. The bottom of my feet feel every shape, size, texture, temperature, dampness, etc. I hate anything touching my face or neck or head but I can handle a hat kind of if I have to wear one because of the sun. I can’t stand my hair touching me though so I have it up most of the time (I’m a girl with a decent length of hair). I loathe showering and being wet (If I’m in water then I’m ok but the second air hits my skin it feels horrible). Literally every time I wash my hair it takes everything in me not to freak out when any hair clings to my skin. I could go on and on about sensitivities but I think you get the idea!

Thoughts on toe socks and shoes? Just genuinely curious? They’re certainly different but I don’t know if they would be desired for stimming.
Plus barefoot can be grounding to many people of all minds

The dreaded perception? PLEEEEASE tell me more about that! I KNOW the feeling but never heard it talked about anywhere or why it is so yuck or what that is at all. Weirdly enough, I have vocal stims too so I will for example sing and "glossolale" almost absent mindedly, probably known by the neighbors as the crazy soundy person, while on the other hand I dont dare to sing from a songbook in my own apartment (except if my voice is hidden in a choir of people)

I missed the first half hour but I think its a good movie. Most people, including me before, think that they need to fit in or be one of the cool people. Reading the bible made me realize that its better to be humble and be the person that God created me to be. Also, I like how you make the video.

What are you talking about? For one, she didn’t know that she was autistic and second, they don’t fully understand how someone becomes autistic. 1 in 52 people born are autistic. Actually I think the number are even higher now. You likely know many people who are autistic and you don’t even know. If someone “suffers,” it’s usually society that causes it.
