I'm 52, and recently found out that I am an AuDHDer. I was also diagnosed with a bipolar mood/anxiety disorder when I was 27. I also have OCD, and C-PTSD. I don't know who I am half the time either. I have been masking long before I knew what masking was. Idk how to stop masking now, because I have been doing it most of my life. Idk if I will ever stop.

👍👍Songs like this are so important for young people to hear! I'm middle-aged now but left home as an undiagnosed AuDHD teen and music was the only anchor and sanctuary I had (concerning identity and life circumstances I suppose at that time Ani diFranco was my most frequent touchstone.) Maybe this is a late diagnosis thing but it's not easy for us to be publicly visible unless we know it's about more than just us. It may feel really vulnerable to share but that's also what makes a song like this so resonant and meaningful for others. Keep it up!

This was beautiful, she had nothing to worry about… but the fear of unmasking and what could follow is so powerful, totally get it. This is such a crazy irony we deal with… acting and hiding, it’s just another set of pros and cons over just BEING YOURSELF! That comes with its own pros and cons. I mask who I am when I'm not around my close family. Because I know how much people hate my behaviours and stuff, so I try to be different but usually just end up quiet and withdrawn. I haven't even really show my fiance my true self
