BREAM FISHING PUMICESTONE PASSAGE 15TH JUNE 2024
I ventured up to Caloundra to chase some Bream in the passage.
The conditions were pretty good and because it was a Saturday I made a point of arriving early at the boat ramp otherwise a late start would mean there would be no more parking available.
I am not a fan of fishing in the dark but maybe I might have to invest in some better lighting for times like this.
The quality of the bream this time of year in the passage is very good. While I did not get that 40cm bream - with 6 bream above 30cm - it was a good feed.

NERANG RIVER WHITING 7TH JUNE 2024
Просмотров 98721 час назад
I went for a whiting session down the Nerang River and targeted the canals running off the main channel. I probably tried a dozen areas but only one spot was productive. Unfortunately the quality (size) was not great but they were plentiful. I ended up with 15 whiting - definitely a couple of dinners at my house. I also hooked a nice little jewie and it was fun on light gear. A number 6 hook wi...
CABOOLTURE RIVER FISHING 1ST JUNE 2024
Просмотров 1,7 тыс.14 дней назад
I had a Friday trip up to the Caboolture River to do a little bit of fishing and a little bit of crabbing. Fishing was terrible but I ended up with 3 mud crabs. One went to my mother and two went to me. It is always good to catch a crab or two.
FISHING NERANG RIVER 24TH MAY 2024
Просмотров 81821 день назад
I ventured down to the Nerang River to try my luck chasing whiting. OK - while it may have been a full moon but it was a terrible tide with a high tide of only 1.2 metres. There is a saying "No flow - No fun" and I can tell you there was very little flow but I had a little bit of fun and ended up with a feed of whiting, bream and grunter. I hope you enjoy the video.
BREAM FISHING 18TH MAY 2024
Просмотров 97728 дней назад
I travelled up to Caloundra to chase some bream in the passage. While it was a slow morning the quality of the bream were pretty good with the biggest going 40cm - and yes I did struggle to get that fish in the boat but when I did I am sure the fish was concussed. I imagine that over the next few weeks the quantity and quality will only improve.
FISHING REDCLIFFE 5TH MAY 2024

I decided to try my luck fishing in the Redcliffe area with my main target being snapper. This is the first time I have fished in this area and with little knowledge regarding actual fishing spots I was a little worried that I was going to have a do-nut day. There was a 6 knot breeze and a little rain about but it was an enjoyable day on the water. I managed to catch a nice snapper and a 40 cm ...
COOMERA RIVER WHITING 26TH APRIL 2024

I ventured down to the Coomera River on the 26th of April to try and catch some Coomera whiting. The conditions were not ideal. 10 to 15 knot winds predicted and yes - they were right. I haven't fished the Northern Arm of the Coomera for a little while and I probably will wait until August before I venture down there again. In saying that - I ended up with a feed and it is always great to get o...
NERANG RIVER WHITING 12 APRIL 2024

I travelled down to the Nerang River on Friday to try and catch some whiting. While it wasn't a great tide and there was a 10 knot wind blowing later in the morning I managed to get a feed of fish for the family. The Monaco Street stretch of the river is producing some decent fish, while they are not elbow slappers every now and again you get onto a fish that is pushing the 40cm mark. The only ...

NERANG RIVER WHITING 15TH MARCH 2024

I had a quick morning session down the Nerang River before the South Easterly hit. Obviously I was chasing whiting for the family dinner table. I started the session at the Council Chambers but after about 45minutes - I made a move down to Monaco Street. Here the whiting were more plentiful and the size was around the 30cm mark, so they were not huge but an OK size. After catching a feed I deci...
LOGAN RIVER FISHING 2ND MARCH 2024

Last weekend I thought I would try my luck fishing in the Logan River - WHAT WAS I THINKING?? OK - there are probably a lot of people thinking that I am a fool for believing that I would catch a feed of fish - yes, I admit it - I was a fool. The amount of fresh water still flowing out of the catchment did surprise me but at least I did not go home empty handed. I hope everyone enjoys the video.

Well done John,a good day out and the weather is coming good ,about time to, so you haven't been using those blue-ring Monteville garden worms, they were good bait back in the day,BUT the Cribb ISL, blood worms are good, we lived next door to BILLY GRAY at Cribb isl, many years ago he was the local wormer at that time ,his Boys and i fished the flats for whiting and flathead, good old day's, the B,GEES WERE THERE AT Cribbie School with us as well, as 12/13 year old's a great place to grow up. Other people will remember THE Red and White bus line owned by BILL WHITE they ran through to the city, down passed the golf course at Nudgee.GOOD OLD DAY'S. When whiting fishing I only use Cribb Island Blood worms. I use a number 5 sinker (In some situations I may drop down to a number 4) and a long trace of about 4 - 6 feet. I use a 6lb main line and trace. I use mainly number 6 or number 4 hooks. My trace gradually shortens because with a number 6 hook is usually left in the whiting.

Hi Shane, In my opinion it takes more skill to fish with an alvey especially if you hook a larger fish. No drag on the alvey, you only have your hand and rod to play the bigger ones while with an egg beater - you just wind away - no skill required.
