Welcome to THE DAILY SPORRAN: My shockingly amateur, lo-fi covers of Jethro Tull songs on a daily basis, to help us get through the Coronavirus crisis. Songs I have loved for many years, played by ear & with guitar fingering showing in case it helps other guitarists, & so that you can learn from my mistakes. I try to capture the whole arrangement of the original (across instruments) in my acoustic versions.
I have also put the songs on Playlists organised by the original Jethro Tull albums on which they first appeared.
I did daily posts until June 15 2020, when UK lockdown unwinding got underway, and now do occasional additions about once every 2 weeks. And I will leave this library of covers up in the hope some people will enjoy watching them in years to come.
Contact me via email at Stewart.Wood@parliament.uk. Am available for weddings, funerals, baptisms and bar-mitzvahs.

Just excellent!!
That was great, your version of Witches Promise was up there too. Keep that Tull magic going. I will watch your others as well.
Bro! Bravo! That was spectacular. I was looking for crunchy guitar solos. But, this stopped me dead in my tracks! Great stuff!
Wow, really wow. Bravo!
I think your best JT cover!(and they're all excellent)😊
Thank you. I’ve seen Tull in concert numerous times. Awesome 🪈
Fantastic....
Hello, is there any way to get a cd copy of these superb covers or of your concert last March, please ?
Fantastic version!! Absolutely loved it, great job!
Effin' amazing!
I love that. Explained and played in no time. Good job
You serve these songs well. Bringing these heavy electric recordings alive on an acoustic is eye - opening. Thank you, kind and talented sir.
One of my favs too.great job my man.
Bravo!!!!
Excellent, except the volume on the guitar drowns out the vocal.
Excellent
I've always wanted to be a "black ace-dog handler." It's just that I don't actually know what that is.
very well played sir.
Very cool version, man.
Very good cover, but I would recommend singing in a more sharp and nasal tone.
Brilliant
Wonderful rendition Stewart! Absolute terrific cover of a masterpiece 😎
This song was beyond ZEN...Jethro Tull was a Marvel...And...Stew that was GREAT...Thanks so much...
Loved it. Being so immersed in Ian Anderson's music, does it take a toll ? You know like a loss of identity?
@@bmukherjee2516 Ha! No I just do a song once every 3 weeks or so. The rest of the time I have no trouble being me!
👍👍👍
If you can do more updates .. 1 redo.. and 2.. a new
Excellent well done ....you got the subtleties
Thank you so much!
Thank you. Oh, man this one's gonna be fun to play and sing. What a song. I did it awhile back at karaoke, and when I returned it was discreetly removed from the list. Now that's rock 'n roll! (and a sign of the times).
In an interview at the time of the release of "Benefit" in 1970 Ian says that this is a song about - and for - Jennie his soon to be wife. JT had been touring the US in late 1969 for the third time and all the band were missing home and their sweethearts, not least Ian Anderson himself. It is somehow typical of Ian Anderson that because the relationship with Jennie later soured he denies these earlier tender feelings he had before they married. He can never be seen admitting his vulnerability to someone if years later it was shown to be misplaced. Being homesick and in love is a feeling we can all identify with, though not many can express it in music. No reason to complain, as the song itself says.
Stumbled upon this. Been watching every one.
@@morgunstyles7253 thanks so much, hope you’re enjoying them
Applause applause applause!
Excellent
Great job, thanks a mill for sharing. I've seen Tull 7 times starting in 1970 then caught Ian on his rubbing elbows tour. For anyone that has not heard of the rubbing elbows tour go for it, great find. thanks bud, really enjoyed it, everyone, keep peace...
So good!
Thank you Stewart ❤. I love this song so much I named my cat The Kelpie. When people ask why I tell it's because I can't keep a horse in my one bedroom flat 😅. You should see the puzzled look on their faces 😂. One of favorite JT songs ❤.
Brilliant as always
OMG no way someone else loves this shit....
Wow, just wow! I have listened to but never really heard this song until this interpretation. Thank you.
Du bist wirklich ein großartiger Musiker! Ein Meister! Dein Velvet Green hört sich klasse an! Jeder Part klingt super und es ist ein absolut schwieriges Stück. Und Du schaffst es noch dazu zu singen. Wahnsinn! Echt toll, dass Du das kannst! Thank You for Sharing!
Just brilliant, you make so much sense in your analysis. Thank you
Are you playing another guitar with your toes?? Really outstanding!!
Well played. Always liked it. Friends who worked for NASA really like it :)
Brilliant rendition thank you brought back fond memories of 1971 Paul from Brittany France ❤
I do love this song too! Thanks for that amazing acoustic version! I discovered this album at a difficult time in my life so it will always have a special resonance for me.
I fail to see the relationship with hotel difference in key, timing and progression ¿???????
I love the way you end with open chords AWESOME 🎉
Awesome, Stewart! Thanks for posting this. Keep up the great covers! Love hearing your versions of Tull tunes. Your playing and singing are both impressive!
I was fortunate to see Tull in Richmond in 1973. While I always loved "Aqualung" and "Cross-eyed Mary," this was always my favorite Tull song. I think it's one of the greatest rock songs of all-time. You did a great job playing and singing it. I wasn't going to listen to the analysis because I usually don't like that stuff, but yours was good.
Thank you Stewart! Great cover. Yes, Stormwatch is consistently on my regular playlist too. I’ll be back up on the Isle of Stormwatch soon too! … I always take my broadsword with me as, well, you never know if you’ll need it! …Perhaps I’ll see you up there one day?… Till then, … Cheerio! ❤
