Is the Hammer Hazmat solid the strongest symmetrical ball I’ve ever thrown?? Even compared to the ebonite GB5 solid, I think this ball out hooks that one- mid lane and overall hook. The original hazmat has a hybrid coverstock and they are wonderful complements to each other. If you’re looking for an all-around good, strong, symmetric ball, the hazmat core is probably it. Nice video. I’ve been using abralon pads and polish for years. I can’t believe how little you had to move with the dull ball. About the lowest grit I go down to is 1000 because they tend to burn up early and hit flat. A lot of times I use a spinner and might be using too much pressure.

  • @BNeault

Great video like always. I have pads with me when I bowl esp tournaments. Surface changes are important. I keep using them and I adjust the grit numbers as they age. I like the way you talk about a ball hooking. Front to back and not right to left like many people think. Perfect

I use pads every time I bowi...most bowlers don't do anything and wonder why their ball doesn't read the lane.

I was always curious, if you took a ball with 4000 or of box and took a 2000 pad to it, would it be possible to replicate the same shape with out of box surface with a different layout

You use whatever grit that gets your ball to do what you want it to do.

That's really valuable and useful information. The experiment shows what I like to do, and that is to sand a symmetrical ball to 2000-3000, and throw from the same spot all 3 games of league. It looks like I could go lower with the grit number, and still be able to stand in the same spot as the ball lane shines and the lane transitions.

This was great! Just started using grits. Took an out of box 4000 to 1500 and saw a major difference.

Trouble Maker was so interesting. It looked just so slightly different but man so consistent, so blendy. I have just been experimenting with different surfaces recently but have been afraid to go down to 1k or 500, but seeing this, it definitely tells me I just need to try stuff on different balls. It's crazy how different those reacted to surface changes. And 🙏 for the still striking ending 😁

This is great and exactly what I have been struggling with. I stumbled across your BTM article from February describing this and had a revelation. "Get inside the ball" they say. But not this way lmao. I worked for years to get inside the ball only to spin it and wonder why my track got so low. On video everyone said my hand position looked great, but couldn't figure it out. It's because I had the hand inverted like you and had to spin to get back to normal axis rotation. Had the same problems. Had to use super strong balls to get them to read the lane, only to have them run out of energy or burn up until g3 when things opened up finally.

I agree these two balls aren’t the same just based on the numbers alone. I find myself using the low flare more often because of its predictability. I enjoy playing straighter angles and the strike hasn’t shown me much since I got it. I like the scorpion line but if I had to replace the strike I would go with the blue or red tundra due the similar numbers as the low flare.

Bout the lower diff balls. I consider .035 ish and lower balls lower diff. The OGRattler and Deadly Rattler are perfect. Low flare balls. Like the Sneak Attack, Rhino Teal and the Envy Tour fit that bill for me. Strike Low Flare also which I do not have. Great video like always!

Thanks for showing how you target spares, gives me some ideas to work with. I watched all your spare videos (I think), anyway what I did not hear you cover is how you throw your ball compared how you throw for strike. Example; when I throw for strike I’m trying for high power and high spin. But when shooting spares I don’t necessarily put as much speed on the ball but strive for more control and pin point accuracy, (sometimes my strike throws can go wild and I hope for luck like a Brooklyn lol)

I had the worst splits like 7 in a row yesterday.. of multiple variations. And i couldn’t get them all! At least one pin remained standing. I thought “man.. I sucked!” I shouldn’t be hard on myself after watching this. lol “Hope for the best” is really the name of the game of splits! But definitely this motivates me to explore new feet/eye targets to improve my split conversions. Thanks! Yeah, I spin most of my spares too.

  • @davvyisaloser

So, when you do have to open up your angles, how do you increase your axis rotations without again increasing your tilt? I'm a high tilt player even when I roll it forward, Been working on decreasing my tilt, but as soon as I have to open the lane up, which is usually pretty common for me as I'm a higher rev lower speed player, it feels like I can't get enough access rotation without increasing my tilt

  • @chrisharmon8858
    @chrisharmon8858 13 дней назад

I've got a Scorpion Low Flare that I found has to be thrown pretty straight to strike on most certain patterns. I usually like to throw a hockey stick line but sometimes the oil just want allow me to do that so I go to another ball. I had a stroke a few years back to I thought I was done bowling and sold all my gear. I'm just know getting back into it but I'm a three step approach guy with a slower rev so I'm having difficulty finding a good ball I can make work on most patterns.

How would you shoot a 5-10 or 5-7? I occasionally leave those, and so far I've been aiming for where pin 2 would have been in trying to make th 5-10, and where pin 3 would have been for the 5-7. I think I've shot at it about 4 or 5 times since I started trying that, and only made it once.

Great point about blaming yourself instead of trusting the ball! The more I work with bowlers the more I hear their excuses for why a ball didn't do what they thought it would. They will say that they didn't hit it, or that they topped it, or a variation of "I am the problem" instead of asking why the ball did something unexpected and if they should move. I think we all feel like we make more mistakes than we do and that most times there is a reason other than us why the ball did something different.

The Scorpion Strike reads earlier, and continues better. The early read is because the Semtex cover stock is very strong for a peaarl, and the continuation is just the symmetric core. That's why the Scorpion Sting is such a great shim rider. That's my story, and I'm stickin' to it.
