HW99s Tuning
Просмотров 1,1 тыс.21 день назад
So the TX200 HC I traded my HW80 in for is tuned by Phil Crampton at Ratworks. This got me thinking, how much difference can a tuning a rifle really make? Also will I, as a pretty average shooter, notice the difference? To answer this question I have put my hand in my pocket, forked out the cash and sacrificed my 99s. It is now at Ratworks for the full treatment. Follow up video will be in 6-8 ...

Great video, the 99 is a good gun and great value. Keep that dust from your bag away from your gun as it will act like grinding paste when mixed with oil 😮
@@MRD765 yep I need a new bag! Thanks for watching. 👍
Why did u not find the best pellet to suit the gun and do ur test from there it was a waste uf time
@@barriemercer5102 I had run out of the rifles favourite pellet. So I used a good Allrounder and one it shoots well with. To be honest I also felt that it would be better to use a pellet that it shot ok with rather than one it shoots brilliantly in the hope that any improvement in performance would be more obvious and easy to show.
Hi, The RWS FIELDLINE SUPERDOMES, go well through more guns than they don't, namely through my 45 year old, .22 Webley Vulcan springer and my SMK Victory CP2 - CO2, Rifle/Pistol Combo' (also in .22) How diverse can you get ?
@@felgate11 I’ll have to give these a go!
Just discovered your channel sir. In the more recent video about the hw99s you mentioned people don’t find your content and I have to confirm. I’ve been watching as many videos as possible on the dreamline tactical compact and never came across yours! Subbed👊🏻 do you know if there are even shorter barrels for this rifle? I’m thinking about getting one but want it to be as short as it possibly can be:) gonna be a rat gun, shooting hades, don’t care about the shot count:) would the tube version have a shorter barrel perhaps?
@@kims2r Thanks for the sub! I will have to speak to my nephew and get some advice on boosting my you tube presence! As for the barrels, as far as I know 300mm in .177 or .22is as short as fx goes. That would be for any model. You could speak to a gunsmith and get your barrel cut down and re crowned. For the shortest package the smallest carbon bottle would be best as the tubes are longer.
@@gardenguns Is yours 300mm? I would’ve hoped it would look shorter, even with the silencer that seemed longer than what I had in mind:) thanks for your reply! Regarding the algorithm, it seems very moody and sometimes random to me… also everything regarding rifles and shooting might get some drag from RUclips itself, not sure though:) hope you take off soon!
@@kims2r yes mine is a 300. To be fair to it the only shorter gun I have owned was my old BSA ULTRA MMC. That thing is a legend. The FX in my set up is pretty short, and sweet to handle. The foldable AR stock helps as well.

Great review, I’m currently shooting a HW77K, a decision based entirely on aesthetics, there’s just something I don’t like about the TX200 stock, and to be honest I really can’t imagine how a TX200 would shoot any better than a HW77 or 97K, so I’m incredibly happy with my choice, however, I may have to satisfy my curiosity at some point and get behind a TX200 (subject to my wifes approval of course).

@@beadblaster9508 😬 I hear you are also restricted to 5 rounds in a magazine, no semi auto even in a shotgun or .22LR?
@@gardenguns 5 rounds for rifle but 10 rounds for handguns. Handguns require permit to go to range each time. They cannot be carried except in exceptional cases for work ect. Laws are constantly changing. You cannot resell, trade ect a handgun in canada. You can own it till you die and then it is disposed of. These in my opinion are superb rifles and far more convenient to shoot than an under-lever. However this is a very personal preference based on 60+ years of air-rifle shooting😏

I’ve got both the gen4 BB firing version and a similar one to yours that’s sold here in the US as the. gen5, only mine uses a belt rather than a revolving cylinder. The BB firing one is superior in every way aside from accuracy. It’s far more realistic and even field strips like the real deal. When it comes to accuracy however, even with the atrocious 2 stage trigger pellets are still better than BB’s. The thing is, you’re not going to get very good accuracy from either one, so choosing the pellet firing version really doesn’t make a lot of sense.
@@GR-cf4qh Totally agree. The Gen 4 4.5mm bb version is the most authentic. Closest we get to the real thing in the UK. For you guys in the States it makes a good training tool if you don’t want to blow through a load of 9mm. Wish we could get proper handguns back.
@@gardenguns I feel for you guys. Even over here where most of us can own the real deal, shooting an actual firearm is pretty much something you have to plan your day around unless you happen to live way out in the country or next to a range. For every cartridge I shoot I'll probably go through 100 or more pellets and BB's simply because shooting them is easier and more convenient.
My grandfather taught me to shoot cans with this rifle almost 20 years ago. "Taught" may be a bit of a overstatement, as he basically just slapped it into my hands and as I'd seen in movies and video games, I got to blasting! Being a very user-friendly rifle, the only thing I had to get used to was the iron sights, as I had only shot my fathers scoped single shot rifle before. What an amazing experience.. Years later he passed the rifle to me and to this day, I still can't believe the accuracy you get out of this rifle. I have never adjusted the sights and it's still dead on. It's actually so accurate that i've been wanting to get a scope on it for years but just haven't gotten to it.. I know there's a mount by Umarex and some dude made his own rail. I even saw some raised iron sights with tritium once. I always carry this rifle with me to barbeque and sauna evenings with friends and such, as it's so much fun with a group of friends, and they always get hooked! The only thing I often find difficult with this rifle is to try and stay on count of the 8 pellets when you're having so much fun! Cheers from Finland!

Under a 1000 Not a bad gun
Hello. Today I received a new Vixen cal.177. I noticed they increased the magazine from 15 diabol to 16 diabol. The inner rotating part has different shapes and groupings, otherwise everything is as before.
Thank you for the update. 🫡
I've had 3 of the 99s in the past, for the money there's no better spring rifle, But I'd say to anyone pay a bit more and get the HW95, longer cylinder so can give more power if wanted, shorter screw cut barrel, and slightly thicker, also has a cocking shoe that rides on the cylinder, no chance of gauling. Oh and the 99s have a drooping barrel, supposedly better for the open sights, put a straight edge on the barrel block when the rear sights removed and you'll see the barrel isn't inline with the cylinder, it makes zeroing them with a scope difficult, you'll find you need the elevation screwed near all the way out, that's anti clockwise, where as with the 95 you don't have that prob.
Thanks for the info. I hadn't noticed the drooping barrel. Will have to get my hands on a 95 now!
