    I love my HW99s best value and worth more than any second hand trade in.
    I rate the slimness of the stock, and with a decent scope you wouldn't know it being really a budget air ifle.
    I've had BSA GTR and Gamo, found them unsatisfactory for different reaasons.
    As I exclusively use a scope, I've removed the iron sights and added a muzzle weight.
    It really shoots pellet on pellet. I would improve the spec by having a piccatinny rail factory fitted.

    I have the HW50. Over here in the US it’s almost always called the HW50s but the rifle is marked HW50. I understand that in the past the HW50 had a more basic trigger and the “s” model had the Rekord trigger. Now they all have the Rekord trigger. (Not sure if that is how it is spelled).
    I have owned 2. The mainspring broke in the first after about 1 year. The importer replaced the rifle with a new one. Weihrauch and their importer in the US stand by their guns.
    The rifle is accurate and fun to shoot with or without a scope.

    Really good review and you were a bit hard on yourself - good shooting with open sights! I rather sceptically invested in one of these but ordered from Sandwell Field Sports - it is their 'Imp Mark 2' version of the 99 with a screw-cut barrel in .22. It has now seen off my HW80, HW90, HW77 and HW97 as I just wasn't shooting them after getting that. 14.66 grain H&N FTT in 5.52 are its diet of choice. I regularly Chrono it and its' 11.4/5 ft lbs with a silky smooth cycle and pretty much as accurate as my .22 HW100. Incredible wee rifle!

    The reason I would make that choice is that the rifle is an all rounder for weight power usability and quality.

    I have a 99s .177 from about 2010. I had shaunt off the AGF polish the internals, make a set of guides/top hat and set it at 9/10flb, currently 9.5flb with Rangemaster Kaiser. I have used it with factory opens, AR style peep sights, dioptre and finally a x3 prism scope. It is amazingly accurate and so sweet to shoot. I can cock it with 1 finger and out shoots me with ease. I also have a HW90k .22 that is fantastic. So smooth to cock and shoot but obviously much larger and heavier. If I had to choose one it would be the 99s, I also have a Daystate mk3 but my heart lies with the break barrel's

    I have the 57.177 with a 6x42AO scope on it and with a 7,5 joule/5,5 lbs limitation. It's a complement to a 40 I have. I got it a good two years ago. I wasn't satisfied with the results with the H&N Excite Econ II pellets, which I normally use with my 40. I had some gnarly flyers on occasions. Finally I started with the H&N Sport and only last week, after a good 1500 shots did I complete the breaking in, myself included. 😅I happily found the right ammo and at last I am shooting some nice tight one hole groups of five
    and incidentally
    on the very same distance of 15 meters as you here! 🙃 And so I want to say: maybe one could add your cold fingers in the equation if you think it could have been better, however I find you did an excellent group just there, especially with the ironsights! 👏👍
    Once a Weihrauch is duly broke in, it is always on target, no matter what price segment. 😋

    Interesting you should mention "Fuzzy & Blurry" mate, I'm 67 now but I used to shoot small bore rifle competition in my early 20's for my works rifle club (I even won a little Medal in the Leeds & District SRA) but we did have a guest shooter/speaker one evening, who spoke about Focus at the point of aim. He was of the opinion, that it is better to have a clear view through the Dioptre sight & have a slightly Fuzzy view of the downrange Target. The Human eye (like a camera) can't have Everything in focus all at the same time. (Maybe something to have a think about)

    The only criticism l have is not with the rifle, but l can’t understand why Weihrauch refuse to use fibre optics foresights. It makes shooting with open sights such a dream. Or is it just me? But the gun is a classic!

    Really enjoyed your review. Just wondering about your up grade fibre optics foresight? I just purchased a 50s and planned to use only the iron sights. I’m in my seventies and think fibre optics would be , as you mentioned , a great up grade. Is there one offered specifically for this gun? I live in NS Canada . What specific brand did you mount on your gun?
    Thanks

      Thanks Joe, glad you enjoyed the video. If you google Weihrauch Fiber optic sights, or Weihrauch TRUGLO sights. Hopefully you will somebody that sells them in CA or the US or will ship to you. There are a couple of European suppliers, however they don’t seem to offer shipping outside of Europe. These are an official product and are on the Weihrauch website, so I would think companies like Pyramid air or Airguns of Arizona could help you in Canada. All the best

    I've had 3 of the 99s in the past, for the money there's no better spring rifle, But I'd say to anyone pay a bit more and get the HW95, longer cylinder so can give more power if wanted, shorter screw cut barrel, and slightly thicker, also has a cocking shoe that rides on the cylinder, no chance of gauling. Oh and the 99s have a drooping barrel, supposedly better for the open sights, put a straight edge on the barrel block when the rear sights removed and you'll see the barrel isn't inline with the cylinder, it makes zeroing them with a scope difficult, you'll find you need the elevation screwed near all the way out, that's anti clockwise, where as with the 95 you don't have that prob.

    • @gardenguns
      @gardenguns  2 месяца назад

    🤬 SACRILEGE 😅 you never speak the words budget or entry level anywhere near a Weirauch 😬 rather, purpose built precision air guns 😂😉
    Hw30/s/: low power, beginner, junior, plinker etc
    Hw50/99/s: mid power, intermediate all rounder as you said
    Hw57: Hw50 underlever version
    Hw80: high power (not magnum) springer definite fac for you chaps
    Hw90: Hw80 but gas ram version
    Hw77/97: both high power underlevers just different trims
    Agreed this would be my choice too, nice vid 🤙🏽🤙🏽

    • @1970sman
      @1970sman 7 месяцев назад

      Nothing "mid power" about the 99s in the UK. They are full power sub 12. Same as any other more expensive Weihrauch none FAC.

    • @NoBody-gr6zv
      @NoBody-gr6zv 6 месяцев назад

      @@1970sman Correct, the Hw50 in fac version is around 14 joules which should fit right in with the sub 12 standard there without any tinkering by factory. A fac hw80 would be around 24 joules or +-16 fpe. What I was trying to show is that Weirauch doesn't make "budget guns" per se. They just make top shelf guns for the different sectors of the market and budget manufacturers replicate their designs using budget materials etc hence the saying you get what you pay for and if you own a Weirauch then 😉
