    The HW99S is a superb little rifle. Bought one for my son to learn to shoot, and its become my favourite gun. Light, handles beautifully, and extremely accurate. Its just a lovely thing!

    I agree with your comments regarding both the HW99S and FTT pellets, my wife and I both shoot our only Rifle and while not getting the same results that is probably due to us both being in our 70's. I am very glad I bought the 99S rather than the 95 as I saved some money and have stocked up on the FTT's.

    I know the majority of air rifle users are likely to fit a telescopic sight but it would have been interesting to see what is achievable using the open sights - also no one ever seems to mention in reviews that the Weihrauch rear sight has a choice of 4 notch profiles

    I like your work. Air gun shops are not a thing in the United States. Budget air guns are for sale through big retailers. The local retail gun shops can’t compete at the budget end and historically the higher quality air guns have very limited demand. End result I have to purchase air guns and quality ammo via mail order/ internet. For good information about air guns I depend on channels like yours. Keep up the good work.
    By the way, keep hold of that barrel when you load 😊.

    The 99s is value for money, the .22 has less bark and if you need a moderator i would personally save your money and buy a 95. If your thinking of putting a scope on it again i would buy a 95, 97, or the 80, bearing in mind the uk 80 is detuned and has a slow firing cycle. For me the 99s is best at being an open sight springer and this is where it excells, takes you back to where the older amonst us started. If you love the open sights and can afford it the 77k is floorless. I shoot pcp,s mainly and when this becomes boring i drag the target a bit closer and get the 77k on the go with the open sights.

    Springers are a different animal to a PCP , they respond best to being cradled lightly with the off hand , even resting the stock on a bag can still give a small degree of bounce , also follow through with a springer is vital for best accuracy . Both the above are useful tips for shooting a springer accurately , but virtually essential are Safety Protocols ! I cringed every time You loaded a pellet , the barrel of a break barrel springer/gas ram Must Always be held firmly whilst a pellet is seated , even the best quality machines fail on occasion , even Weihrauch are not infallible, underlever rifles should have the underlever held whilst a pellet is loaded into the breach , damaged guns are the least of the problem , bent barrels can be replaced , dismembered fingers won't grow back , surgeons can't always stich them back due to the nature of the crushing injuries to said digits . Please don't revue another spring/gas ram gun until You have mastered this technique , I'd hate to see such keen enthusiasts injured or put of shooting due to a preventable accident .

    Thanks for this. I have one already - my first rifle and I've been very pleased. I've been using JSB Exact but will try the same as you after your recommendation.
    My Hawke x9 scope isn't really good enough but i see you have managed to squeeze on a more powerful one. I think I'll investigate more!

    From an owner, this is truly a good rifle. However, personally I wouldn’t use a moderator as a cocking aid. Especially the Weihrauch slip on model for this rifle which enables you to still shoot with the open sights.

    • @Beesa10
      @Beesa10 9 месяцев назад

      Agreed. I'm confident using a threaded on HW moderator eg on the HW95k as a cocking aid but wouldn't recommend doing so with a slip on version or slip on threaded adaptor, won't be a good time if it comes off while trying to cock the gun.

    Beautiful gun
    Beautiful shooting
    Simple as, I've got an Hw 50 similar gun but I've removed the safety catch just to complete the old school feel and can't see any valid reason why anyone would want any more in a spring gun.

    You are not used to firing springers as you are not observing the safety procedure of holding on to the barrel when loading the pellet.

    • @Genri-fd5ec

      I think an easy work around for this issue is to break the barrel open slightly, enough that you can load a pellet, then to break the action and close it in one motion. In doing so you avoid the issue of not having the barrel held whilst putting a pellet in, as the pellet is already in, and you get to avoid the issue of having not held the barrel whilst loading a pellet (which seems a silly way of going about it when you can do as I suggest, it's just more awkward)

    I have 99s nice bit of kit,only thing I find is that my shots are a bit all over the shop,I am using ftt .22 the distance that I shoot is 30 metres. My hw80 k shoots better the shots are the size of a 20p.the 99s is a lot bigger double a £2.00 coin.

      Try some different pellets:) sometimes rifles don’t like a certain pellet, makes a huge difference, I use the jsb exact RS. Is yours new? Mine was very harsh when new, I cut three coils off the spring to make it less hard, it stopped dieseling right away

    Why is the HW99s cheaper than the other Weihrauch Models? It seems to be the same quality, same accuracy and have the same features as the more expensive models?

    • @Beesa10
      @Beesa10 9 месяцев назад +3

      I've wondered the same thing, perhaps the materials and manufacture of this design cost a little less as the 99 is smaller than the 80 and the 95, perhaps they've produced larger numbers of the 99 to be able to price it competitively. Given the quality and performance it's excellent value and is medium size so not overly heavy and conveniently it wants to produce ~11ftlb so just about right for the UK. Minor downsides are the cocking effort seems relatively high and it's fairly loud, but over all it's so good I'm thinking I should have bought two before prices went up.

      @@xWILZTAx Yes, the 77&97 stand apart from the break barrel models with that robust, tried and tested fixed barrel design. Inherently accurate and much loved, proven in HFT but also tbh not ideal to carry around in the field. I love the sound of loading my HW77k.
