    You have just done what a lot of people can't do with a pcp, and that you have used my favourite gun bar none. One day I'll get one.😊

    Hello from New Zealand, I've 3 Weihrauch 2 being Hw97ht in .177 and .22.And the other a Hw80 mk1 in .22.All 3 have been purchased brand new,with the Hw80 in 1986 and the other 2 in the last 2 years.Have tried other makers over the years but always return to my Hw80 as my go to rifle. That trigger control and breathing technique is a must. I'm 58 now so yes that weight can be a bit of challenge carrying all day. I'm semi retried so do a bit of pest control and hunting.Have been looking at a Hw98 for a while but shipping orders can take up to a year. Really enjoy your no nonsense reviews and banter you have between yourselves. Keep it up from New Zealand.

    All my HW springers are as accurate as a PCP, and even more accurate than some PCP's, you just need the shooting skills how to shoot them. The HW98 is a great rifle, mine is in .22 cal. Thanks for showing 😁

    Absolutely loving mine guys. Great meeting Lawrence too. Cleaned the barrel as i always do with a brand new rifle. Putting 1 inch groups @ 40 yards rested. I’ve put about 1000 pellets through it after cleaning and I’m getting a pretty constant 11.4 FPE now, up from 10.6 with only a 6 FPS spread over a 20 shot string. My .22 is absolutely loving JSB exact jumbo 15.89 grain. Keep up the great work guys. My arms are getting a hell of a workout too lol. Must add, NO TWANG touch wood!
    I love your banter as well. Great father and son relationship. Peter, you have a wonderful son there.

    I shot a mark 1 meteor with no sights like a shotgun as a kid. 500 bulldogs in a week and my mum beat me for shooting all the pegs off the washing line. Get used to the gun!

    Loved this. Great shooting sir! I've been plinking my 20year old HW95 in the back garden for the past two weeks and am getting clovers if not pellet on pellet accuracy at an admittedly meager 15 yards...sat resting on my elbows mind! Really great fun. Have been wondering about investing in PCP lately, but with such accuracy and the infinite fill power of a springer it really makes me think hard.

    I used to use my HW98 for HFT competition. Its a great gun and better when short stroked. I still have it but no longer use it!

      My TX200 shoots a great deal better since I short-stroked it.

    Excellent double act.
    In my humble experience, shot to shot consistency is better from springers, but much more going on in firing cycle, not just recoil!
    PCPs are no more accurate than springers.
    Best grouping I have seen from a springer was a true 'one hole group' from an HW90 - not really a springer, but you know what I mean...

    • @TheRealWindlePoons
      @TheRealWindlePoons Месяц назад

      I took my TX200 to the range straight after I'd fitted the short-stroke kit. A fellow shooter (with more springer experience) took a couple of shots and literally put both pellets through the same hole.

    I have the new style Hw98, the same as one as you're reviewing . This is one overlooked & underrated rifle. I have had mine around 12 months. I don't like underlevers, with the bear traps. This 98 is one excellent, probably one of the best of this type of rifle. Not a cheap rifle but well made. Had to lock tight the stock screws in due to them coming undone. There is one big but, I have a Cometa compact star in. 177. Which is half the price and just as good. I must be honest, I prefer the Cometa to shoot. I would like to see you do a full review of the Cometa 400, not just an overview. Keep up the reviews.

    It'd be really interesting to see a comparison video between the various models as I'm looking to buy one but there are so many model numbers it's a bit daunting.
    There aren't many comparisons of the spring weihrauchs on RUclips

    Always check your skirt don’t just pop it in the barrel👍

    • @Kralk.66
      @Kralk.66 Месяц назад +1

      Damaged skirt does not cause a flyer, I have tested pellets with bits of the skirt cut off and it rarely made any difference. The head is the most important part of the pellet.

    Go back to the early 1980's I bought a FWB 124 Sport in .177. had it tuned by Venom Arms _(If they're still around!?)_ with a slight reduction in the barrel length and a silencer put on.
    At 20 yards, I was putting 5 pellets into a 5p piece. That gun was a lovely piece of kit with the 4-12 x 50 Scope of which I can't remember the make.
    But at the time I had a choice of the FWB 124 or the HW35 (?). I think my choice was perfect as Feinwerkbau made the best target air rifles back then.
    And I did use it for hunting. It's power and precision made pigeons and crows easy targets.

    Had a 98 beautiful gun but the barrel and action alignment was way out. Action was changed with marginal improvement. Got disillusioned and swapped it for a Prosport which is spot on but still sad the HW didn't work out.

    I dislike safety catches in general and auto-safeties in particular. Its the only feature I actually hate about my TX200.
    There is a reason: I once borrowed a bolt-action rimfire which had been left in "safe". I hadn't realised that until I pulled the trigger. The owner was stood next to me and told me to take off the safety. When I switched from "safe" to "fire", the rifle discharged straight away without me touching the trigger again. Fortunately the rifle was pointing safely down range - it could have been nasty though...

    I know it was just an "Out the Box" test . . . . . . But if you took your time and did a proper pellet test you could find a pellet which groups far better than that group you have there. . . .which is what we all do when we buy one as a keeper. Good review as always. Thank you

    The stock doesn't look as good any more with the black stippling removed. They shouldn't be cost cutting on a £600 break barrel.

  • @doomfathertm8771

    No it cant. My HW 97K is more capable than most would think, I can get 10 shots under a £1 coin at 55 yards. But my pcp can do that at 70 yards

    • @rapalaron6348
      @rapalaron6348 Месяц назад +2

      No it's not the PCP that can do that on 70 yards, it's you who can't do it with the HW on 70 yards.

    • @doomfathertm8771
      @doomfathertm8771 Месяц назад

      @@rapalaron6348 An HW 97K will not put 10 shots under £1 coin at 70 yards, I have tried and tried, I am a very experienced shooter, been in the game for 25 years, first appeared on the front cover of airgun world magazine in 2000... The physics involved with a spring air rifle just wont allow for that kind of accuracy. I'm not saying it wont ever happen, if enough people tried it enough times it would happen eventually.
