Firstly,, you do a fabulous job. And thanks. I mostly appreciate when you talk about group size, and show it. To say something is accurate, has no meaning. And no measurable value. But as far as accuracy goes, that is if you're not playing games. If you can't hit your target first time, every time, then you are either too far away, or the target is too small. And that is , in my opinion , your affective range. And thanks again,,, you are the reason I got into air rifles...
Never mind beginners Giles, I’ve been shooting airguns for over forty years and still do and recently bought the 99s for a grab and shoot gun for those pesky rats that think they can set up home under my sheds over winter and this does just the the job. I put a 3-9x40 scope on the top and when I first took it out to zero it was putting pellet through pellet at 30 yards, didn’t have to mess on with that trigger as it was set up just right for me straight out of the box. I paid £210 for mine in 22 plus a tin of lead thrown in. I now have a cabinet full of Weihrauch’s and wouldn’t think of any other make, if it ain’t broke eh?
My first air rifle was the 99s in .177 , i still have it to this day and its been an absolute dream this past 5 years ,never an issue with it ,very accurate even at 50 meters ,i can highly recommend this rifle. i did upgrade to a TBT kit which smoothed out the recoil slightly and got rid of that twang ,a worthy upgrade. I would never sell my 99s !!
I've had a HW99s for about 3 years now and despite shooting HFT with a BSA pre-charged rifle, I always go back and have a shoot with the 99 it's a great little rifle. If you are buying one new, I would recommend a good clean inside the action and a re-lube as the factory does not leave them terribly clean. I'd also polish the spring ends, but apart from that......brilliant.
My HW50 loves RWS Hobbies, 11.9 grains. 670 fps. 1/2" groups at 25 yards with open sights. Perfect size, weight, and power. If I could have only one air rifle, this would be it.
I’ve a HW99s in .22 that’s been worked on by liquid steel designs and it was grouping around 15mm at 40 when I got it and has a variable shot spread of 3-5fps the 99s is my favourite rifle to shoot I’ve taken mine out to 75 yards on knockdowns
Ergonomically speaking the HW 99 are near perfect for adults. Just large and heavy enough to feel solid. Yet short, light and well balanced to enable wobble free offhand shooting for hours. HW99 is the UK version. It is called the HW 50 in rest of world.
I shoot HFT comps with my 99s, love it. The best springer out there . Loved the huge smile on your face when hitting targets with the open sights, Giles. Keep up the great work. Big Pete from Scotland. :)
This is not weirauch entry springer. they have a model named 25 and 30 also as you mentioned, i have 2 hw30 in 177 and 20 caliber, and 2 hw50/99 in 177 and 22, my favorite is the 20 cal hw30, second is the hw50 in 22, if you have not tried the hw30 i suggest you do, they are aawesome! And they are not only for kids, grownups need some fun also!
Love my 99, got it tuned by shauny off the AGF and it produces 9.5flb with JSB RS ( garden use). Super smooth and I can shoot a 10mm group at 20m but I use it with open sights now and use my 97kt silverline for target work. Both are a joy to own,
Spot on Giles. The 99 is a great little rifle. I would suggest the entry level BSA Lightning at around the same price is a worthy rival (although I prefer the 99). The 99 is very tuneable - the results the good tuners get from it are remarkable and it's also easily fettled by the DIYer. You mentioned the HW30. That has to be the nicest starter/junior gun available (imho, obvs). I got one a few years back to try to get my daughter interested in shooting. She didn't take to it, but I still have the HW30. At between 7 and 8 ft lb, It's ideal for garden/backyard plinking and doesn't disgrace itself out at 30 yards and further.
Excellent choice Giles. I have 3 HW50S (cousin to the 99S) in silver 22, blued 177 and a Pro Hunter 177 version by AoA...all tuned by Allen Z. They are great guns. I also had a 177 and 22 tuned by Allen Z. here in the states for my sons...all of our 50S guns are one hole guns using a scope at 40 yards. I think Si Pittaway, Verminhunters TV would also agree...he has used a number of the 99S guns in his UK hunting videos.
You are like a kid at Xmas un doing their first air rifle,Webley ,BSA,Weihrauch mine was a Webley Vulcan many moons ago. Those of us older or experienced air gunners know the HW99 is the best beginner spring piston air rifle .It's also a good addition to any gun cabinet for a spare hunting rifle, pre PCP training rifle, teaching air rifle it's a multi roll Springer.Pity you didn't review one with the new stock that is a looker!.Looks like my S200 maybe getting a new friend.Stay safe take care of yourself you big kid lol.Regards Tony
I have a 97kt stainless action and a hw80k and i'm still thinking of buying one of these for my collection, both of mine can be incredibly weighty walking around and standing up shooting for hours, the 99s is THE best budget rifle out there, its just deciding wether or not i want a 99s or a 95k to achieve the more portable rifle.. so many options and not enough money! Lol
I had a Wehrauch 35 .177. Bought by mistake. " if you have any problems bring it back." I used it for hunting never a problem. Always head shots, no drop, flat trajectory. Beautiful engineering. Couldn't fault it. That old .22 just drops too much.
a much underrated rifle, made to our sub 12 ft-lb limit pretty much and not chopped down to comply, slip a TBT guide set in and voilà Bob's a close relative 👍
Really like your reviews , funny entertaining, and very informative, just got into air rifle shooting, started off with pcps , and now getting into springers, what a difference, so much harder in my opinion but love a challenge, keep up the good work, amazing reviews, getting the hw99s in 22 thanks to your review.
I've just sold my walnut TX, HW97 and HW80 simply because these are just so good it's .22 it's just as accurate as the one's mentioned, using hobbys, Superfield, FTTs pellet on pellet at 30 metres.
Owned HW 80 when they first hit our shores and never looked at another springer not that there were many pcp's around the early 80's had a 77 for a few years and now own a 95 coupled with an MTC Mamba scope i hit more than i miss.
Good answer to the question. I have a HW97 and I am very please with how consistent it is. Which is "best" would be my third beginner question, first being "PCP or springer" and second being ".177 or .22".
Great review and good to see a springer back in the reviews. At the money why look elsewhere they make the best springers out there, reliable, accurate and last ( my hw35 is now 45 yrs old and still going). Better still for the beginner the iron sights will teach you how to shoot properly so use them they actually work on an HW, unlike many others.
If you can lay your hands on one in the states I would definitely recommend it to be honest anything weihrauch from the baby hw30 to the big daddy hw80 the build quality is flawless I have my dads hw35 from the 1960s and it's been used and abused and it's still as strong as the day it was made new spring and piston seals and that's all its had
In the last 10 ish years I've had a lot of Weihrauch's 80s 77s 97s 95s and I've got to say these 99s are really very good, lightweight very accurate, l would say that they are much better stripped and rebuild using moly grease and bit of preload, piston sleeve to stop the twang and there much better. Mine likes RWS H points and FTTs.
many years ago, I shot with an HW77 against a guy with a 90, he regularly beat me, I still have a loyalty to underlevers though, having been brought up with an Airsporter, my LGU suits me just fine, but those 90`s, kills me to say it, awesome!
i like my hw95k better but they are dearer now i bought mine in the 90s its had a couple of seals go in all that time woods a bit dinked as i treat them hard in the field but the gun itself it still perfect.. great video giles
Giles, just an observation: You need to follow through and "pin the trigger back" until after you hear the target strike for best accuracy; rather than get off the trigger immediately, like you might for burst firing a full-auto. Yes, you want to get your finger off the trigger before shifting your attention away from the target, after the shot. But, there is no need to get off the trigger as if it might bite you.
Giles, I luv it when you guys call this (H) haitch. That's why I tune in on all the Weihrauch videos. OK that and your reviews are fun, sometimes instructional and always informative. BD Haitch
To see your reaction after you got those 2 cans first try, well, it just shows your love for this sport...and that you're a big kid, like all of us. Will there be a Christmas show this year ? I think I recall seeing you in a Santa's hat before :-) Greetings from Canada
Great review! Two questions for you. Is there much barrel droop? Also, is there much twang from the spring? It didn't sound like it, but not everything comes through in videos. Cheers from the U.S.! 🇬🇧🇺🇸
They are presumably the same except something about the front sight being different I think? Confused me for a while because I had never heard of the HW99s
I have been wanting one of these for a couple of years now, what has stopped me getting one is the forums and the term "galling" and the 100s of people saying "don't touch them"! is this really an issue on the 99s? I would pick one up in a heartbeat from my local RFD but i would just like some real world clarification on this. I am looking to add a .22 springer to the stable and i would like it to be the 99s. As always Giles great video and channel.
Hi great vid as usual..is it ok to dry fire spring, gas ram or even pcp rifles. Ive a gas ram and a AA s510 ultimate spotter.Nobody ever mentions it on RUclips vids. It was your Walter Terrus vid that got me into air gunning years ago thanks 👍
I'm wondering now, how does the HW99S compare ( if at all ) to the HW30S? This looks like a nice 'little' back yard shooter, I wish I could find one here in Canada!
Hw99s is a little heavier and more powerful than hw30s the hw99s is the uk only spec its called the hw50s everywhere else but is the same gun you might be able to get hw50 in your country
Only issue i ever had with the Weihrauch springers was they weigh so much! Allot less than a dive bottle or a pump + rifle mind... but bloomy heck its a workout around the field for a few hours lol. Bang on for staring with though had years of fun with a HW80/90 before going onto PCP. Always worth having one as a backup if out for a night/day also as they will never fail yeah if other rifle does :P
Agree, beautiful made rifles but you knew you had been out with a hw 90 that's for sure. To be honest I'm thinking about getting another 90 or a 97. Just for something a bit more interesting and take it back to basics 👍
I made the mistake of buying a break barrel springer for my young Grandson. Big mistake. I forgot how potentially dangerous they can be regarding breaking barrel and being careful not to accidentally trigger it after cocking. Bought him a good quality PCP. Sorted.
Hello, where did you get the green rest from please? Recently purchased a hw99s great fun, only prob I find is open sights when sighting black on black target can be abit tricky.
Love your videos but I got a multi pump Daisy I'm shooting at 30 yd iron sights hitting clay pigeons and everything you shooting at 15 yd I can throw a rock at that and hit that center
I hear the galling is hit and miss these days, some do, some don't... Nick stanning from tbt has a video about a permanent galling fix which is simple and easy to do. I have a 99s in .177 with tbt drop in kit, shortened/threaded barrel and weihrauch moderator, 3-9x40 hawke vantage on top and it's Lazer accurate. Absolutely recommend a hw99s to anyone in the market for an all round well made springer. (I have quite a few different Spring rifles and this is by far the easiest to shoot accurately and doesn't seem to be hold sensitive like my hw80k)
I bought the crosman nitropiston rifle in .22 for 80 bucks on sale and it shoots awesome. Good quality for the money and shoots very accurate. Is it as nice as this rifle? Well the trigger is not but with the nitropiston i would argue it's darn close. You should review one yourself, order from walmart.
Cant really compare a NP to a SP though totally different action, most nitro's could be seen as amazingly accurate due to no recoil when compared to spring piston and crosmans build quality is nowhere near weihrauch, although there is some lovely shooting crosmans out there. But i would say with an equivalent rifle, im almost certain on a level playing field the weihrauch would have an edge, i am weihrauch biased though, only ever trusted bsa and weihrauch for my hunting rifles and none have ever let me down cheap crosmans and krals and hatsans etc have always been plinkers to me rather than reliable hunting weapons because i could instantly notice the shot group being considerably wider with them

I ❤ my HW99S. Lightweight and super accurate. Its the only rifle you'll ever need.
Me too, scoped and its an accurate meat gatherer that you can carry around ALL day.
It’s the rifle for the best situation
My first air rifle was the 99s in .177 , i still have it to this day and its been an absolute dream this past 5 years ,never an issue with it ,very accurate even at 50 meters ,i can highly recommend this rifle. i did upgrade to a TBT kit which smoothed out the recoil slightly and got rid of that twang ,a worthy upgrade. The HW99s is so good we bought three.
For me,my brother and my son in law.
Great rifle can't say enough about it.

I have two of them, but my go-to for fun is still the HW30s. Lighter and just as accurate, if not more.
I still have my .177 version and still enjoy shooting it. i'd recommend for any 1 who wants to get started, then move onto a
HW 97 KT

Nice to see you recommending .22 rather than .177 like everybody else Giles, great video as always
Welkome back Giles, great presentation again. Greetings from Holland.
p.s. in Holland we called the HW99S the HW50S.
Didn't know this, have an oldie from some decennia back, Dank voor de info.
I shoot HFT comps with my 99s, love it. The best springer out there . Loved the huge smile on your face when hitting targets with the open sights, Giles. Keep up the great work. Big Pete from Scotland. :)

Brilliant little rifle. Just as capable as my HW90, and handles beautifully. No problem hitting 1" targets at 30m.
Man it so good to see you doing air rifle reviews on utube as it's the only format I receive, please keep up the great work for your utube fans!!
Really enjoyed this video , it brought back some very good memories of trouble fee ownership.
Thank you.

Giles Giles, going back to your roots eh, you're getting closer to that HW 80 review, come on big man still waiting, remember mark 1 please.
HW99s pcp accurate with bisley long range gold.
I have one of these in my collection and i'll never sell it! Great video as always Giles 👍
Really like your reviews , funny entertaining, and very informative, just got into air rifle shooting, started off with pcps , and now getting into springers, what a difference, so much harder in my opinion but love a challenge, keep up the good work, amazing reviews, getting the hw99s in 22 thanks to your review.

Great choice for a first springer! But I'd recommend spending a bit more and get HW 95K
With a little tuning it becomes an amazing rifle. I have a tinbum kit in my .177, that makes it even better Dan stock
Owned HW 80 when they first hit our shores and never looked at another springer not that there were many pcp's around the early 80's had a 77 for a few years and now own a 95 coupled with an MTC Mamba scope i hit more than i miss.
My old 99s is amazing. 1\2 5 shots 25 yards tbt kit and polished internals .keeper
Got a HW77, had it for ever. At 70 it is sometimes a bit heavy for me now. Nice one Giles, great gun for a young one.
Good answer to the question. I have a HW97 and I am very please with how consistent it is. Which is "best" would be my third beginner question, first being "PCP or springer" and second being ".177 or .22".

I have one , superb. Not modified. Great fun , a welcome break from my pcp stuff.👍
Giles, I hope you’re still making videos. Really enjoyable and informative.
many years ago, I shot with an HW77 against a guy with a 90, he regularly beat me, I still have a loyalty to underlevers though, having been brought up with an Airsporter, my LGU suits me just fine, but those 90`s, kills me to say it, awesome!
Back to your best Giles, thank you.
Hw 97 or air arms tx 200 Hunter carbine ( the tx is the best spring rifle money can buy)
I have that in .177 as well as those red targets from the intro LOL.
HELLO Giles , great show
I like the HW80 to practice marksmanship with.
A lot do not like it due to its 10 pound weight with a sight.
i like my hw95k better but they are dearer now i bought mine in the 90s its had a couple of seals go in all that time woods a bit dinked as i treat them hard in the field but the gun itself it still perfect.. great video giles
The best one? that's a risky of statement, The best, the best always the best.
While I like your reviews of the expensive kit an affordable Springer is most welcome. Not my first Springer but am seriously tempted now
Great choice, brilliant Gun!
Perhaps some more experimentation may be in order, I think you might do a bit better in the accuracy department.
They are fabulous, best air rifle i have ever bought, great vid. thanks, regards.David.
Giles, just an observation: You need to follow through and "pin the trigger back" until after you hear the target strike for best accuracy; rather than get off the trigger immediately, like you might for burst firing a full-auto.

To see your reaction after you got those 2 cans first try, well, it just shows your love for this sport...and that you're a big kid, like all of us. Will there be a Christmas show this year ? I think I recall seeing you in a Santa's hat before :-) Greetings from Canada
Excellent video 👍👍👍 greetings from Poland 🤘🤘
Great video Giles, that looks like a great rifle, even if you are not a beginner, that gun looks awesome.
Would be interested in a side by side comparison with a Walther Terrus
fantastic review as always keep it up👍 ive got one of those on order 😆 hasent arived yet ddo infact ive been waiting quite a while 😕
GREETINGS giles , great subject great rifle ... cheers Simon from york
Love mine!
Nice to see a springer again at last.I'm not in to the pcp vids :)
Great review! Two questions for you. Is there much barrel droop? Also, is there much twang from the spring? It didn't sound like it, but not everything comes through in videos. Cheers from the U.S.! 🇬🇧🇺🇸
Springers are best shot open sighted.
Looks very similar to the HW50 but it doesn’t matter cuz weirach sells the best springer available
Think air arms would disagree with you on that
The 99 & 50 are the same gun mate.
There is hw 50s , and it's nice too 😜
Same rifle
Nice review! what is the difference to the HW 95?

I love your reviews. Hw99 vs h95 ? Which one would you recommend ? In .177
🍺 what is the difference between this and the 95k? Ignoring the obvious open sights and moderator changes.
Great vid this listen to it it makes sense.
I'd like to see someone do a pcp with a scope (a reasonable one), pump, pellets, targets, maybe a case setup for under £500. Now that's a challenge.
pellpax mate but the customer service is shit but good deals most of the year
@@darrensutton87 Yeah I wouldn't touch them with a badly made Chinese plinker lol.
The only thing you should have mentioned was which parts are plastic and metal.
Hello, where did you get the green rest from please? Recently purchased a hw99s great fun, only prob I find is open sights when sighting black on black target can be abit tricky.
250 quid ain't cheap. Its bloody dear compared to other "entry level" rifles or other air rifles in general.
Whats the best was the question
Love your videos but I got a multi pump Daisy I'm shooting at 30 yd iron sights hitting clay pigeons and everything you shooting at 15 yd I can throw a rock at that and hit that center
Are you going to review the PP750 multi shot? (Please!)
How would you compare it to the Parrus or the Diana 34 in .22
I have one, you cant miss.
dont waste the egg. A poor hen laid that egg, we shouldn't take it for granted. Not easy work
Nice 👍👍💯
Is gauling still a problem on 99's? Really tempted by one I'm a lefty have tx200 left handed but my wife and kids are rightys
Some say it still does theres a few videos on here on how to fix it
I hear the galling is hit and miss these days, some do, some don't...
But i would say with an equivalent rifle, im almost certain on a level playing field the weihrauch would have an edge, i am weihrauch biased though, only ever trusted bsa and weihrauch for my hunting rifles and none have ever let me down cheap crosmans and krals and hatsans etc have always been plinkers to me rather than reliable hunting weapons because i could instantly notice the shot group being considerably wider with them
@@MDM1992 for a beginner(s) I'd go with the 4 crossman and change.
Out of all my rifles hw99s is one id never sell
Where can you buy this rifle?
Terrus over HW99 for me
German what more do you have to know
It's like seeing what The USA IS INER FOR DOWN THE ROAD NEVER HAVE A GUN'S FULL POWER GOOD VIDEO 👍
Silencer??
I can be done easily but there is very little to be gained on one of these
👍👍👍
Giles, that blue shirt, did you get it out of the bin again? :D
Springer are not friendly to scopes
Oh yes they are, 50 caliber may not be, Ak 47 may not be, but spring airguns no problem at all with scopes, thanks for your coment.
Unless you get a springer friendly scope. Hawke scopes are cheap and warranted for life.
British sold sub standard - 12 fpe max rifles tend to not wreck scopes too bad.
