An other excellent episode Andy. I’m happy to be seeing the less expensive budget friendly arm’s lately. That would be the major portion of my collection and I’m proud of them. I think I have chosen well. Living here in Phoenix Arizona I have the privilege to drive out into the desert get myself turned around a bit intentionally, pull over to nice deserted area and set up my Gong Target and commence to shooting. I hope one day you have business in neck of the woods so I can shake your hand and say thank you. Your friend in Phoenix, Rudy. See you next week.
It's great to see a starter gun good enough to keep in the quiver, at that price even if you do move on to a more expensive gun, it's worth keeping to use to introduce others to shooting.
Great review Andy. I’ve got the Silentium in .22 and use it for ratting and plinking. It loves Bisley Long Range Gold pellets and it’s had a few thousand go through it without a single problem. Great rifle for the money.

Recently purchased a silentium, wow what a gun, bit of recoil very accurate especially with qys pellets my 15 Yr old grandson loves it even more than my pcp. Its definately a keeper.
My very first air rifle was a well used BSA Meteor, with a sloppy barrel and leaking breach seal but at least it had a wood stock. Accuracy was hit and miss, mostly miss as the barrel slopped from side to side when fired. But it was fun, even with little power my father used it to clear out the pesky starlings that you were allowed to shoot in the late 60's. I would paya bit more and go for a Meteor Evo with a beech stock, i can't stand the feel of plastic stocks. But if funds are tight, this one will get you started into a great hobby.
Been thinking about getting an air rifle again....I have lots of powder weapons, but airguns are cool. The rifle reviewed is only $329 here in NZ...that's 165 quid..... not a lot at all. I think on the basis of your review I'll pop down to my gun shop and pick one up..... Great review, thanks. It seems that BSA is making good rifles again these days... 🙂
I note that the NZ version of this rifle has a muzzle energy of 16ft lbs (measured on my chronograph)....we have no limits here on Springers... but all PCPs required a licence.... Got my rifle last week and it didn't disappoint. It seems very accurate so far, and is surprisingly easy to cock.... Thanks again for the review.... 🙂

There are some great budget air guns now in 177. I don't use 22 now. For info; Beeman 10616, USA version, 0.31" groups @ 33 yards. 998 fps with RWS 8.3 gr Superdome Field Line pellets, 18.3 fpe, silencer, 28 lb cocking, 49" length, no barrel droop, has open sights, shoots very quiet. Nine pounds with scope. I shoot it like a deer rifle. Test group shouldered with front rest, light grip, 9x scoped. Jsb shoots no better but costs 5x more. The gun out shoots me even as a marksman. Much fun, smooth quiet spring, love this gun. Added a Tasco 3-9x 40mm AO scope and sling, a whopping $190 total package. Comes with a scope good for 20 yds or less, $129-$160. RWS superdomes are 2.6 cents each. They work well at low and high velocities. The gun is rated at 1,200 fps and shoots 1,085 fps with 7.0 gr lead pellets. Gotta love German engineering.
I own a few bsa’s including the lightning GRT you reviewed a short time ago. I was so impressed with that rifle I also bought the meteor evo and the supersport great guns and shoot every bit has good as a PCP. And full hunting power too.
I think I that was a pretty good test....it was hitting the target hard too ...grouped nicely but clearly needed a slight sight adjustment. The way that was hitting the target was certainly good enough to despatch small pests..... can't argue with the price that's for sure.

That’s pretty good accuracy for a springer. A little tweak on the scope and the red on the target would’ve vanished.
Not a bad little bit of kit and very cheap too. Great review.
I’m very surprised in that this could be my first springer plus how the alloys performed to, is this a lead free gun? A great review Andy.
Thinking of buying comet evo gasram or spring dont know wat is better.
The Comet line seems quite interesting. I'll have to see if they're available on my side of the pond at a good price and more power.
It would be interesting to know how much energy those lead free pellets retained downrange compared to lead pellets.
And be good to see how the barrel is like after 250 pellets they must wear the barrel out
@stephen gunrunner hanson I wouldn't think so. H&Ns green line pellets are made of tin which is a fair shake softer than steel which generally runs 6.5-7 on the Mohs Hardness Scale which is more than double the common rating for Marble which tin dioxide is occasionally used as a polishing agent for.
All in all the lead free pellets should cause no undue wear on the barrel.
