Off topic but I would like to see a video of Andy showing us the inaccurate badly made rotters that he must come across from time to to time , a compilation of what guns he would avoid. It might be quite fun
Unfortunately, I don’t think he will. Andy wants to sell guns. Not putting people off buying them.
Although I must say, his reviews are fairly unbiased. He does tell you any faults he finds.
From what I gather, rather than slag a gun off, Andy sends feedback to the manufacturer for improvements. So if there's an item you would have expected Andy to have reviewed, but he hasn't, that might be a clue.
My replacement Defiant ( changed because of leakage) is as different again, with a clean barrel as opposed to the other, which took several patches with barrel cleaner and was still filthy. It didn't group too well either compared to the replacement. So q.c. on the barrels needs improving!!
@@engineeredlifeform I second your answer
👍🏴😁✌️
would be nice to catch a gun review that its shoot is not accurate or its not well built ,has a issue or plainly just average .I have shot FAC for years but looking to get a PCP at some point . I like Andy's channel but my choice has changed down to Andy shining up every gun ,so what I first started looking at was British then Turkish and now over the watching the channel a Czech PCP. So if they are all so good then price has got to be the main objective over accurate shoots as they all can take a fly's eye out at 20M
When you grow up on a sheepskin rug watching Bonanza and Clint Eastwood films there's something special about that sound❤😂❤
With you on that one 😂
❤ fire going too, loved all those boy hood westerns ❤ still do.
I grew up watching the man with no name trilogy, too. As well as most of the other old west gunfighter.
And John Wayne. 🤟🏼💪🏼🇺🇸🤠
@bmaxse Alright you guys listen up and listen good because I'm only gonna say it once. The Duke.
Tip from a Texan that started out on a Winchester 1894 chambered in 30-30. Work the lever while keeping the butt in the shoulder pocket.
Hello from Texas.
Just a tip on using a lever action, keep it shouldered when working the action.
Yeah i saw that too and thought to myself “oh the british”
Back in the 1970s I had an 1866 by Uberti, Sadly I sold it. It had the Brass frame and was a brilliant rifle. I have been collecting Wild West guns for over 50 years.looks like another one to add to my large collection.Trouble is they keep bringing more and more brilliant replicas out.Oh well soon be Christmas.
Morning Andy I have the Umarex Winchester shell ejecting replica and it’s great, it’s bb but I get round the ricochet problem by using excite copper coated lead bb’s. It’s very accurate even though it’s a smoothbore and was £100 cheaper than the Barra, ok it doesn’t have an octagonal barrel and you can’t change calibres but it’s a cheaper alternative for people for pretty much the same experience. I also have the Remington Cowboy 1875 pistol which uses bb’s and pellets for the full cowboy experience 😁
Hi, the Umarex Cowboy rifle will take also run on pellets as well, safer than BB's 👍
@@geetee7154 the excite copper coated lead bb’s don’t ricochet , I have used some pellets as well.
Try pellets in your umarex cowboy you'll be amazed at how well it shoots pellets !! Mine loves pellets !
Reckon this is better than the umarex I have the Rio bravo might get another in a different finish or one of these
Very nice albeit available for only $220 in the good old US of A. UK dealers asking £365 to 400 in rip off Britain 😢
I used to be in the bike trade and triumph bikes where sold in the usa for a lot less than they were hear . shocking considering they used to be made in Hinckley, this shows the rip off society we live in
@@cedhome7945 its the taxes
We don't call our homeland 'Rip Off Britain' for nothing! 😂🤣😭
There's a reason we don't get handed a bill in a hospital, or hit toll roads every 5 miles. You can have good infrastructure, or pay less tax, pick one.
@@owensparks5013Some how I do not think that all of the extra £145 plus is all tax
My experience of airgun cartridges is "fun gimmick the first few times, annoying chore later". It just becomes pointless extra work after the novelty has worn off, at that point it basically becomes twice the work loading when you'd rather have just gotten on with shooting again.
Completely agree. And hunting in the grass for the ejected cartridges. I get backache from bending to pick them up. I had an Umarex Legends Cowboy Rifle but gave it to my son for him and the grandchildren.
@@Ballinalower yeah, fun at first, but now it’s such a tedious process that it actually puts a cap on how often I shoot.
Nice to see Andy having a bit of fun with his videos 😂
What a terrific toy. My dad god bless him would have loved this. I grew up watching John Wayne, Clint Eastwood or infact any western he could find on the 4 available TV channels in the 70's. Ah the old days. 😀
If that was your dad we must be brothers😄 - when in the 70’s I asked my dad why westerns, he explained that after you’ve worked 3 shifts, piece work doing a hard manual job then the idea of sitting astride a horse under cloudless blue skys with the open range stretching to the horizon was pure escapism.
But.... airguns are not "toys" and should never be treated as such. 🙄
@@007tallguy Always has to ne one lol...
@@grahamedwards9920 I wouldnt have minded that life but you forgot the Marlboros hanging out of your dusty chops.
@@007tallguy but there are fun airguns and serious airguns, this one is one of the former.
Great video Andy, thanks for posting. Initially an octagon barrel was standard on the 1866 models, although later round barrels were offered in both rifle and carbine versions. Although superseded by the Model 1873 and subsequent Winchester models, the Model 1866 was sufficiently popular to remain in the Winchester line through 1898.
By far the most intriguing rifle reviewed so far this year. Rifled (tick), Hexagonal barrel (tick). Interchangeavble barrels (not needed but nice thought (tick). Price (half tick). Paint finish (half tick). Power (x). I know what you mean about the hexagonal barrel. When I bought my Henry rimfire underlever I just had to have the hexagonal barrel. I was almost reaching for my wallet on this, but the power level is a little weak. O.k, it;s a plinker, but 6ft/lbs would jhave sold it to me. It would have been nice to see it paper pinching, even if it is a plinker.
Your tick is misplaced as is the reviewer’s miscounted barrel sides. It’s not hexagonal. The barrel has 8 sides. Its octagonal.
@@CaptDAR Well spotted. I see so many references by real gun dealers who dont know the difference between a hexagon and an octagon,. SHAME on them and this reviewer. They probably see the many sides and compare it to a bolt hex head. Makes me really annoyed.
@@geoffdobbin9512 👍 what’s the point of reviewing something and making rudimentary mistakes. Little knowledge of gun history. And what makes it even worse is the number of other comments making the same error like the guy above @PLAYINGAROUND who even paced a ☑️ on it 😂
Nothing like the sound and feel of that lever action Rifle. The real icon of the West! The click clack of the lever, the smooth load into the breech and the dull boom of the 0.44 slugs echoing across the plains….
Chuck Connors lives on! 😄
Thanks again for the fantastic content. Fun and informative.
Awesome! Ordered one just 5 minutes into the video!
Nice one, looks loads of fun 👍
Good evening (from my timezone)!
Not cheap for a fun plinker, but great features and quality. I like it. Great video Andy.
What an excellent review by Andy. I have always loved the Winchester from an early age and nothing has changed what a beautifully crafted under lever rifle well done and congratulations Barra.
A fabulous piece of kit I would love one👌
I've just ordered one! Got excited about an historical that actually have a rifled barrel and pellets in the shells! Now i just cant wait for delivery.. thanx for a good show as always! 😊
Good morning I very much enjoy your review from Montreal Canada. THANK YOU.....
Reckon thats a must have Pardner. What fun.
This model was sold as the improved Henry rifle. Nicknamed the yellow boy because of the gunmetal action colour. Much later designated 1866.
I thought the Yellow Boy action was brass & that`s why there is a yellowy gold version.
@@futch2121 gunmetal is a strong bronze alloy of copper, tin and zinc.
@@joefoster8839It was brass
Are you sure about that? Henry rifles have traditionally been tube fed magazines, whereas Winchesters were side loaders. It’s only been in the last 10 years that Henry has introduced side loaders (although they still retain the option to tube load. And they only offer the side load Option on about 5 of their many rifle types.
Oliver Winchester purchased Volcanic arms where Benjamin Henry was a gunsmith designer. Winchester contracted with Henry to make the Henry rifle and obtained the patent.
After a fall out and court case, Winchester gave Henry the factory but he held the rights. Winchester bought a new factory and his chief designer was Nelson King. King created the side load, known as the King gate.
Because Winchester (a shirt manufacturer) was relatively unknown, they advertised the ‘66’ as the improved Henry, which people were very familiar with. The 1873 model was sold as Winchester.
Your videos get better and better! And more entertaining as well! :D
Wow '' Looks like Great fun '' Great Review Andy 💯💥💥💥💥💥💥💥
well done... oh and nice lid.
Man thats gorgeous, been wanting something like this for a while, great review sir 😎
The Umarex Lever action is also pretty good! I bought one after seeing Andy's review. Although the hexagonal barrel on this one looks amazing.
@@samfletcher93 Ohh nice 1, yea I seen that 1. Mr Andy should be getting commission from so many company's getting us to buy this cool stuff lol
@@samfletcher93I think Andy can’t count. The barrel is 8 sided Octagonal
Since my childhood and the John Wayne movies, I have dreamed of owning a Winchester.
Even though I spent 10 years as an armorer in NATO dealing with real weapons, I'm going to buy one 😄👍
Sallam , and Good morning everybody , and OUR Host Andy , 😃 Thact`s a fine looking rifle Andy . 12c n cloudy here and chilly in York .... Have a fantastic weekend ... Thank you Andy
Excellent as always. Had to pause for the bad Dad joke, laughing too much.
Andy, this is the best Rifle review so far in 2024, it looks superb, love the barrel features Inc changing the caliber 👍
Your video on the Umarex underlever cowboy riflr made me buy one. Here we go again.
Love it now I want one looks good
A fun review of a fun rifle. Thanks Andy. ATB MMMD
Another great informative video
Looks really good fun.
Having had fun with my son's Red Rider i brought him for Christmas last year, i am very tempted to get the Barra.
this one was a long time in the making. Barra first showed these off at shot show along with an 1873 revolver circa like 2019.
Tin can ally kids toy 1970s the game I wished for. But sadly never GOT. Happy days ❤❤❤
If you are shooting from a stationary position, just lay down a cheap tarp for the shell casings to fall on. You can find the shells easy then or just lift the tarp to poor the shells into a bucket or onto a table. A large beach towel will also work nicely for catching brass.
This Winchester Barra 1866, changing the barrel, if you can shoot Cup pellets, it is a very good idea, it is formidable, if an exporter brings it in my country I will buy one, because I really liked its realism.
I think that all the weapons could be made replicas but in this style, with this realism, and of all the weapons that have always been manufactured and from all over the world, congratulations, greetings.😎🍀🕸.
Looks good, not my cup of tea, but I get it it's certainly one of the best in it's class, won't be dropping any Buffalo with it but a definite threat to all the tin cans out there
It's always a pleasure seeing your reviews Andy. We are happy to see it's put a smile on your face! We will speak with BARRA about getting some more of their line-up sent over for you to have a hands on with 🙂 -JB
How about importing the Schofield 5” ?
@@CaptDAR I will pass the suggestion along to the team to make sure it's being considered 🙂 -JB
@@1teamasgthat would be great thanks. There’s definitely a market in the UK amongst replica enthusiasts for the 5” version.
Beautiful carabina
Nice fun gun
Great review as always Andy, glad this is pellet not bb as I've had my fill of them not working and mags jamming even on the glock gen 4 would you believe? Just wish they would get the power up to at least 6ft lb
That would be great practice for Cowboy Action shooting on keeping your rhythm up for folks that live in town, Andy. I do suggest trying keeping the butt stock up to your shoulder when levering another round, you'll be surprised how faster you will be (and go thru your rounds ). Thanks for this video, I'll have to pick one of these for my grandsons 3rd birthday, "Long live TEXAS"
fab again.
Want one of these for me birthday lol 😎👍
I want one I need one and this is heritage collection perfect 😍
Thanks
The picatinny rail will be useful for attaching a shell catcher when you need one, they don't look great but are very useful and super easy to mount and remove.
I think me and him are on the same page! The first thing that came to mind me about the quality was the octagonal barrel. 😊
I like it and pellet as well nice
I need one of these to trlease my inner Andy.....
Fantastic I’ve been looking forward to this review for some time and can’t wait to get one to have a go with. I’d love to know how you think it compares to the Umarex version. It seems to share a lot of hardware - I wonder if the rifled barrel would fit the Umarex version and significantly upgrade the accuracy of that?
Goodmorning everyone! Looking out for this review. Have a nice weekend all!
Hi Andy
Again many thanks for the review, very nice looking gun, I would like to see a weathered used finish, of course you could always do this yourself with some scotch brite and alight touch.
Thanks again
Andy form the Wirral
Another great review, I would have liked to see the power figures for the .22 version as well, we now have a couple of options for lever action rifles, not sure which I'd chose.
Excellent Andy wear cowboy hat.
What about if shell get dirty fall on ground. Do they need cleaning before reuse
Wow this is awesome. A “John Wayne” version of this (IYKYK) would be the stuff of dreams.
Wild Wild West, here we come! So cool! I wish I could be a kid again! Or maybe I can be a kid again!!!!!! Yippee
Remember, you’re never too old to have a happy childhood !
Great video… now get me two shots of red eye… and a saspirilla for the boys! 🤠
Some thoughts gone into that. Nice review. Sadly not a "YEEEEHHAAAAA", in sight.
Hexagonal barrel with eight sides? Octagonal perchance?
nice video.
Can you change the under lever for a john Wayne loop lever for flip loading?
I nearly got excited about this UNTIL I realised that it doesn't have the toggle action of the original; instead they've used the Umarex 1894 action which is disappointing. Incidentally, I shot my Canadian cousins antique 1894. It had the best balance I've ever experienced on a rifle AND incredibly light so it came to the shoulder brilliantly. The action was as smooth as silk.
Correct. I don't need a black Yellow Boy with a 94 system.
Very Nice.
Splendid video as always. A through examination is carefully covered and I applaud you for this., However a few corrections and comments. The barrel is eight sided, being octagonal not six sided hexagonal. I would have preferred to see a brass frame version, and brass furniture as the original Winchester 1866 was only brass frame. Overall, a nice addition to the other versions of Winchester lever action replicas out there. Thank you again for an informative video.
Glad you noticed his glaring error.
how long before someone does a printed loop guard so you can do the prinning recock?
Nice to meet you at the Harrogate show, happy AAR Friday everyone
So under powered
getting one
Pretty decent facsimile of a Yellowboy, for a air rifle at least. Interestingly it actually appears to have an action more similar to an 1894. Seems like a pretty neat little air gun. Wonder if you could swap out the fake wood for real walnut.
Similar to the Umarex cowboy rifle.
Very similar only barrel shape much different.
The Umarex is based on the 1894 Henry repeating rifle l purchased last xmas, great fun
Another great review, like the veyron 10x44 which seems to be always out of stock.lol
I wonder if the underlever mechanism is made of proper hardened steel or if it will break after cranking it a couple of hundred times.
If there was an air rifle replica of the Lee Enfield I would be so happy.
I have a small collection of actual ones and an air rifle version would be so nice so I’m not paying a dollar for every round fired.
Nice video as allways Andy. I am a bit dassapointed though, about Barra making it historically incorect with the octanical barrel. Now i would really like a replica of my favorite Winchester, the model 1873. Idont care if it is made by Umarex or Barra. Have a nice day.
Run that lever gun by giving it a twist as you work the lever so it’s more wrist less elbow to speed up the follow-up shot 😊
The original Winchester 1866 improved Henry rifle had an hexagonal barrel and the sytem was made of brass/bronze gun metal. I own a winchester 1866 Yellowboy sporting rifle.
FYI the hexagon barrel was available on the real rifles from the very beginning, going all the way back to the Henry 1860.
Nerd time (see "Winchester...An American Legend by R.L.Wilson Page 26). The hexagonal barrel featured in the first named "Winchester" under lever in 1866 and was nicknamed the "Flatside"). I have 3 FAC Winchesters and a stainless steel Umarex under lever with scope (as per Jurassic Park) - great fun. Just watch out for dirt on the expelled dummy cartridges. This Barra looks fine but not sure why you would want to change barrels - the .22 is best for plinking?
Well slap some bacon on a biscuit !!
Looks like a great garden plinker and I'm with you, that octagonal barrel is rifle p@£n . Had me pausing and re winding anyway !!!! Love how it loads , love how it ejects , drooling over the lever action . I'd even ignore the faux wood . The price unfortunately is what's going to drive this outta Dodge for most I think .
Dave
10 ft lbs is not too much to ask from a rifle that doesn't require blow back power to work.
With 1 co2 the Crosland rabbit stopper delivered 10 ft lbs.
I'd like to have seen the cartridge cases a bit closer up. I'm curious as to how the pellet bites into the rifling.
Nice looking rifle. I have the Umarex Legends Co2 Lever Action .177 and absolutely love it. How does the Barra compare to the Umarex?
They should make a revolver called the WheelBarra.
they do make revolvers
I’m proposing this.
Wouldn't mind one, Any idea where I can get one, don't have any shop near.
I'd like to see a head to head comparison between this and the Umarex Legends cowboy rifle.
Review on the gamo Arrow please Andy
That's crazy that only 1 pin holds in the barrel and mag tube, don't know how tight and secure that is.
I would love a non-shell ejecting model like the Umarex Walther rifle
so if i wanted to use only one 12g co2, i would place the good co2 first before placing the second empty one, yes ?
It doesn’t matter where you place the full/empty one, but you always have to locate them bottom to bottom. (Never put a bottom against the piercing pins, they might break !)
@@Crottedenez1000 thanks for the fast reply answer 👍✌🙏
That is one nice gun, could well become an adult version of the kids game made by Ideal in the mid 1970's.
Andy, where can these be purchased from, please.
