    Back in the day (some, ooooh, 37 years ago) I had a Weihrauch HW 80 in 12lb/ft .177. I also had permission to shoot bunnies, rats and other assorted pests on two farms. Amazing days, not only because I bagged a few rabbits for the pot, but what really sticks in the memory is being out in the land. Being quiet (don't spook the wabbits!) and seeing all the countryside alive. Very happy days for me.

    Purchased one today, plus scope. Such a lovely piece of kit. I owned a HW80 when I was a kid and was pleasantly surprised how much lighter the HW95k is. Thanks for the recommendation.

    R9 is the first Beeman I purchased..still own it and two others. I have it in .20 cal. I have put more than 3000 rounds thru it and still shoots like a new rifle. Quality is top notch and accuracy is outstanding. Love the '' thuunkk'' when it's fired. Back yard friendly too. Also own an HW80 and HW100. All fitted with Hawke scopes. Love "em all. Did I forget to mention Weirauch manufactures them all. Fine rifles that are worth the investment.

    I’ve been following weihrauch reviews and reading up on them for a while, as I’ve been getting a lot of crows and other serious pests at home here on the farm, round the yard. 22 years ago as a lucky kid, I had one of the first mk1 BSA super ten’s. After a break from shooting for a number of years I needed something just to control pests with, as and when I can, so today I bought a HW95K in .177. After a couple of hundred pellets through it to zero the Tasco world class airgun scope I kept from the old super ten (the rifle died and BSA didn’t have any spares for them in 2008 when I asked, so into the scrap yard with a load of other rusty machinery it went) I must say I’m pretty impressed. .177 has come on so much, in 1996 .22 was the norm for hunting, now I wouldn’t have anything else. This HW95K is solid, well engineered to last a lifetime. I tried a HW90k In the shop, as I wanted a gas ram, and I was dismayed to learn Theoben went bust years ago, so the HW90k it was going to be, but it’s built like a tank. Literally you could smash doors down with the butt, it’s like carrying a BAR from ww11. The 95k is more refined, light, better trigger, all good. As far as springs are concerned, if you can change the brake pads on your car, you can replace a spring in an air rifle easy. If like me your life is running and repairing farm machinery, any major job on a spring gun is eyes closed stuff. It doesn’t phase me to own a spring gun at all, as long as it’s a quality one like this. Tuning one I don’t see a problem with, if you’ve seated valves in a cylinder head, you’ll get the idea. I’m very pleased, it is a tool at the end of the day, and works really well. Shooting one is a bit jumpy compared to a pcp, but it’s just a case of adopting the correct style to compensate for the very slight jolt. Bit twangy, but nothing that makes you want to take it back.

    My favorite air rifle. I have the Beeman R9 version in .177 and an HW95 in .22. They're both tack drivers. Being in the US, they're both full power models, 13.4ft/lbs out of the R9 and 15.7 ft/lbs out of the HW95 with their favorite pellets.

    Just picked one of these up, surprisingly accurate if I do my part, I intended to put a scope on it but the open sights are so good I may just leave it that way. Also very quiet too. I own the AA tx200 and the sound level is comparable.

    It is not about the money but it is all the tralala arround a pcp i don,t like. You just need a springer and a tin pellets to have all day fun and nothing is more reliable than a quality springer.

    I swapped the barrel on my .22 hw95 for a heavier hw98 shrouded type because it had a problem with barrel flip ie barrel too light, now it really is an extremely accurate rifle with little difference in the loudness.
    I tend to stick to springers, pcp's are no real sport but i do understand why pest control operatives would need a compressed air reservoir.

      My choice for a "ready to go" rifle. Pin point accuracy and,for me anyway, not pellet picky at all. I get slightly better groups with the high price pellets but will get 95% as good groups with Crosman pellets from Walmart

      @@wccross4147 I'm between Weihrauch HW95 Deluxe and Gamo Magnum. Magnum comes in a ten mag edition too. Which one would you choose? Also what's better cal, 4.5 or 5.5? I'm closer to 5.5 but I read a lot 4.5 recomendations. If money wasn''t an issue, which is better (Rifle and whixh caliber?) it would be very helpfull, I would much appriciate it.

    • @wccross4147
      @wccross4147 3 года назад +1

      @@greekveteran2715the Weihrauch is higher price than the Gamo and caliber is really a personal choice. Since I'm primarily a target shooter the .177 was my choice as I have other airguns in that caliber. If hunting is primary use the .22 likely is a better choice. I chose the Weihrauch to replace an 1980s HW 35e stolen in a robbery and had insurance money. Airguns of Arizona had a nice package with a scope for $527 which is a lot of money but well worth the difference in quality over a Gamo in my opinion. I'd rather have a single shot I know exactly where is will hit than 10 maybes. If you are not in the USA you might check out Kral in the Netherlands. I've not personally bought from them but good prices on Weihrauch

    Wow, its already 10 years since you made this video. Still loving your shows big man.
    And because Weihrauch is still In the game. After many pcp's years, I miss a Weihrauch. So I came back to watch this brief report. Its so difficult to choose between all the HW's ...Hw80: Power (heavy rifle) Hw77(k) also heavy. The Hw35 with the barrel lock. ... Pffff . Can spend your money only once,is what we (use to ) say in Holland 🤔.Anyway, The Hw95Luxus has caught my attention. And it seems to be an allround rifle. Plus: No pumps, extra gear etc. Now this in the video is what I really like. As I always took off the rear sight so you had the 3 holes. This one is for scopes decicaded only. So a nice clean breechblock. Plus No rain will rust the threaded holes.

    Giles, I bought this gun because of this review,..., well you and Sir Ted. I didn't have $1000's to buy nor did I know what to buy in the PCP world... but guess what... accurate as heck. My gun likes only Domed pellets... the Beeman .22 Cal Round Pellets, and food of choice and I'm talkin' smaller than a 1 P coin at 30M, the H&N Field Target Trophy Power Copper-Plated (yes I said copper plated) Dome. My velocity with other pellets is 625 these slippery Copper pellets are 640-645. That's 13.65 foot pounds. sorry boys but you have that sub 12ft lb and let me tell you at 13.65 this is NO FAC gun. Does a nice job on the Bushy Grey Tails at 30m - yes head shots so I get a nice clean Kill... I need a better scope. The UTG that I have is ok but a nice Hawke with Sportmatch mounts is really the way to go... or as Giles has here the spring loaded mount.

    Here in the USA we can buy a 22lr rifle or pistol for around $200.00 - however' there is a cult following of which I'm a follower of the HW95 (or Beeman R9) air gun. This rifle rules in precision pest control of rats. Bar none! the quality exceeds the FAC rated rim fires! over here. Got to love that good (outstanding) German engineering. Good video too.

    a point of interest: Who invented the PCP air rifle?
    Image result for when was the first pcp air rifle made?
    Marin LeBourgeoys
    The first drawing of a PCP airgun dates from circa 1600. It was invented by the French gunmaker Marin LeBourgeoys and fired a dart rather than a bullet.
    this was copied off the net. I hope it was useful to you.

      It's Hawke, not Hawk. And if it is compatible with air rifle use then yes you can use it. I'd personally verify this with the manufacturer specs. That they can be used for firearms, from Barrett's to 22lr rifles, means nothing because firearms are not spring air rifles and do not have double (front and back) recoil a springer would have.
      Having said that i own two Hawke scopes on my HW95 and Fenix 400, and so far so good; no complaints of any kind.

      Having said that, your experience shooting a firearm has no relevance to an experience of shooting a springer air rifle. It is obvious from your comments that you have not carefully shot a springer at a target. If you had you would know what i am talking about instead of sounding ignorant with respect to shooting springer air rifles ONLY, not including any firearms.
      When the context of the conversation next times focuses on firearms, i will sure TRY and remember to have you chime in for your relevant and knowledgeable observations dealing with firearms.
      You may want to read up on two way recoils of springer air guns, and perhaps you will understand what i am talking about. But in a nutshell, firearm only rated scopes are designed to take the recoil only one way--towards the back. These scope get destroyed on the second, of a two-way, recoil that a springer experiences when the cylinder hits the end of the compression chamber--2nd recoil towards the front. Unless a scope is designed for this second (or two way) recoil, it is not proper for an average springer even though it may be perfectly fine, as designed, for ANY firearm, including Barrett firearms.

      The airmax is the Hawke scope for springers of this power. Just put a 3-9 x 40 on my hw 85. Same as hw95.

    This video misrepresents this rifle. That is definitely not a walnut stock. I also know Weihrauch air rifles and have several. The stocks are beech. I also worked in the forestry business and dealt extensively with furniture companies who bought cherry, oak and walnut from forests in the area for furniture making. I know walnut, and the gun in this video has no walnut on it. That is also not a "shoulder" pad on the rifle stock. It is a rubber recoil pad. These kinds of errors make a person wonder about how knowledgeable and conscientious these vendors are.

    Great Rifle, and good shooting for standing shots with a springer. if you cant shoot a springer then you shouldnt shoot. ATB

    no, just for the lenght, are u also able to tell me how fast does thee bullet goes with the 7.5j version (here in europe it's unlegal to own air guns with over 7.5 j).
    very god video but i'm stil wondering why in a precision test u shoot without resting as u did in some other videos.
    and do u know if there is also a version with the diopter.
    and do u know if it's accurate also at 60 meters (resting)

    I Have the HW80k. Im wondering just what the differences are.

    • @randymartin9760
      @randymartin9760 6 лет назад +1

      From Weihrauch's website: The HW80k is 15mm (slightly over a half inch) shorter than the HW95 but has the same barrel length. The 80 is a half kilo heavier (about a pound), and the 80 shoots 5 to 15 meters per second faster depending on caliber.
