I got one of these for Xmas in1985 I was 13 I carried that thing all over the farm it used to knock the stuffing out if anything it hit and I'm sure it got more powerful the more I shot it probably my favourite springer ever.
I ordered an HW80K from Weihrauch about four years ago. Absolutely loved that lazy thunk. I wanted an 80K specifically because they're engineered to do so much more than 11 ft/lbs, and so our UK limits wouldn't put any strain on the internals and it would last ages. I recently traded the 80K, my 77K, and my HW45 in and walked out instead wit two entry level PCPs (a Webley Nemesis and a BSA Ultra). Although I was sorry to see it go, I don't miss the weight. It was an absolute pain carrying it about without a sling. Definitely one to hang onto if you want an investment that will appreciate, but I needed some guns I was actually going to enjoy using. I've had springers for 20 years and have just moved over to PCP. The difference is night and day. I'll always love shooting springers and will definitely get myself a TX200 soon, but for now I'm enjoying the transition to reduced recoil and multishot.
@@olinejad I think having a good springer you can shoot well is a great addition to any shooters collection. However it is my PCP’s I mainly use for hunting. Love my Ultra!
Ive just replaced the original seals in my 80 . Thought after 35 years they might need doing 😂 . This is a super reliable and accurate gun , it will never give you problems as long as its maintained and will outlast a tx200 twice over.
Although a retired Naval Armourer. I am a relative novice Air Gunner!.I noticed that shooters find the stock to compression chamber and trigger guard screws come loose! I noticed this on my FWB 127 and Weihrach 99S! I noticed a gap between the trigger blocks and the stock with screws tightened! I Removed the stocks and shimmed the void! (Caulking in Naval Terms) using half-moon shaped shims. I now don,t have loosening screws! "What about your head?" people may ask!....LA5 Lancs
Yet another super review and close on to the previous one you did which is great. You’re modest and very generous to link that other guy’s post on Weihrauch (adore their products but oh I do hate having to type that name 🫨). Nice to see a .22 being reviewed too 👍
Great review. I would say that the HW80, with the right tune is arguably one of the finest break barrels on the market - as long as you don't need to lug it around thru the Fields...I think that place can be taken by a HW99s. Keep up the great work.
My Beeman R1 in .20cal is 35 years old and still shooting strong with everything still is stock. I'm having a hard time having any air piston gun go even 5 years without replacing. Metal mainsprings definitely seem to last a lot longer.
The hw80 was originally made to shoot at 19 -20 fbs for the export market, it was detuned for the uk market, you must have one of the export ones , obviously a fac in the uk ,
@gardenguns i have recently acquired one of these rifles in a deal with two rifles it is in .22 , it's about two years old in a very nice cs 700 thumb hole stock with a Luke jolly trigger, it shoots very well but I'm not into. 22 , so it will be up for sale , nothing against the gun it's just i dont do .22 , 😁👍
Hi, The RWS FIELDLINE SUPERDOMES, go well through more guns than they don't, namely through my 45 year old, .22 Webley Vulcan springer and my SMK Victory CP2 - CO2, Rifle/Pistol Combo' (also in .22) How diverse can you get ?
Surprised you are getting rid of one of the finest break barrels ever made for a TX. A good HW80 is incredibly accurate. My only guns to equal it are the 77 and 97. I have a prosport and an HW 80 i bought in 89. I know which one i would keep.
@@majorscope I am sure I will regret trading it in. However the TX200 I have is an HC and is SWEET! Also it’s in .177 and I don’t have a springer in that caliber. As good as my HW80 was it was long and a bit of a safe queen. I found myself shooting my 99s more. So time for the 80 to go to finance the TX.
Yes I agree that the HW 80 is one of the finest break barrel rifle but the MK1 is the best of all of them also the air arms pro elite is probably the finest break barrel ever produced in looks and quality.

35 & 80 both have 30mm pistons, easiest way to keep the power down is the short stroke the piston.
