Ha! Thanks for your kind words - and thanks for watching! But - Pressure! Buying a new GPU because of me?? <Gulp!> .. :) .. hope you get a good one and it all works out great for you!
@@RaukoDaz3D thnx ^^ really ı need ı cant use mesh options much max 3 :/ also other things too.. bdw most important things for much detail rendering video card and ram right ? i will save my all money for this at least rtx 4070ti... xd
@@AtillaHektoras Yeah, NVIDIA GPU is essential for Daz. The fastest with the most VRAM you can afford .. FYI : the new 5000 series will be getting announced in a couple of weeks .. might be best waiting to see what that brings - although, it might also mean you manage to get a 4000 card cheaper too ..
@@RaukoDaz3D yess u right ^^ thnx for helpıng and answering u best man ^^
@@AtillaHektoras You're welcome!
How do you keep the image from being grainy? I’ve been having issues with my images coming out grainy in more dimly lit scenes? Is that my card or is it something I’m doing in lighting the scene? Love your stuff.
Gazillions of iterations! The less light in the scene - the more iterations you need to get rid of the grain (or, more accurately, to complete the render to a sufficient level the grain is gone). Yes, that means GPU power. The more you've got. The quicker and cleaner the image will be. If you don't have the grunt under the hood - you could always use the denoiser and sacrifice a little overall quality for speed and time. Check out the following video if you haven’t already : ruclips.net/video/4opzWycb0i8/видео.html
@ I have a NVIdia 3070 Ti on my laptop. I have the 4090 on my desktop, but I’m not home right now. I got it upto over 3600 iterations last night, but it still looks grainy. Right now I need to upgrade my hard drive and add a second one, but i can’t do much about the GPU
@ I’ve been using the denoiser built into the render engine. I post in Photoshop but even that denoiser has issues dealing with the graininess or I’m not using it right.
@@Mudwyrm a 4090 should be perfectly fine - I have one myself .. depending on the resolution I can push out 30,000 iterations in a hour in 4k at 10:13 canvas ratio .. full 4k (16:9 ratio) - I can do 15,000 iterations - which is more than plenty for getting rid of grain. What resolution are you rendering in? For me 3600 iterations would take about 15 minutes render time at the resolution and screen size mentioned above ... So what resolution and screen size are you rendering in as you should be getting more than 3600 iterations before you're wanting to stop rendering. If that 3600 is taking hours then something isn't quite right (unless you're rendering in a huge resolution)
@@Mudwyrm The denoiser should get rid of grain - that's it's purpose. If you're still seeing grain then something doesn't seem right
Hi bro, sorry for my english, I'm using translator, in fact in the video I have to activate the automatic translation hahaha. My question is: I have seen that there are some optimizers to buy in the store when rendering, do you have any idea how well that works? And another thing, I have planned a renpy VN, do you recommend to make the scenery in Daz or in blender? Thanks
Your English is fine (or the translation is at least!) The best optimizer for Daz will be Scene Optimizer on the Daz store (tinyurl.com/mryb7txa) which allows you to downgrade the resolution of all the textures in your scene thereby saving system memory and Vram on your graphics card without much loss of quality. If you have another type of optimizer in mind - then just let me know! If you're planning to do your images in Daz then you'll be best served creating and using Daz assets for your scenery. However, if you do have Blender skills then there's nothing wrong with building your own unique assets in Blender and then transferring them into Daz.
@@RaukoDaz3D Ok bro, thank you very much for the quick response and for the advice. I will be watching your videos on DAZ, and I also subscribe because I have seen that you help everyone in the comments. Thank you very much again
@@ignaciotabogliare1803 Thanks for watching and Subbing! If you have any questions about anything just fire them my way and I'll do my best to answer!
helpful, thank you!
I dont have this cotroles on my genesis 9 figure, even with hiden parameter activate and looking to the exact name on all parameter not only used, I think is somthing you instaled from a PA ,perhaps an add on or somthing, but is not a part of the base genesis 9 figure, and also I dont have any issue like yours with the genesis 9 figure, the bending are not perfect but they dont go wrong like yours
There's different sliders being added all the time .. as I mentioned at the beginning of the Vid - it's either something from Daz or something from the PAs. This vid is more about the principle .. the lumps and bumps *should* be coming from one of those hidden sliders. It's just identifying which are impacting upon your G9 joints ..
I'm looking for resources that help with staring through mirror and the camera being at obscure angles next to the character. Eye contact with the camera through the reflection.
Hey there - you won't be able to use this exact technique to have the character to stare at the camera (through the mirror) .. You'll either have to position an object behind the mirror (create a primitive like a sphere) and have the characters look at that .. move it around until you get them looking at the camera (through the mirror) or simply move the eyes manually until you have it right!
what wrong with 9 joint i remember 5 was fine and why need 9. and we not need
It's called "progress" .. 😀
thank you so much. I have been having this problem and it has stopped me from using some models and poses. hence stopped me from doing some images that I have had in mind. so thanks again. I'm off to do some art
Glad to be of some help! Each of the sliders that crop up with the Thigh or Shin filter could be the main cause of the problem for you. Some of those sliders are added in from PAs so play with each until you get things the way you want them!
Clear, concise, and straight to the point. I've had nothing but trouble from strand based hair, but now I understand it better. Thank you!
Glad to help out! And thanks for watching!
Dear man what gpu do you use?
I've got a NVIDIA 4090 under the hood .. you asking because the entire video is in IRAY preview mode?
@@RaukoDaz3D I new on daz studio I've got a nvidia 3060 12gb 😂 don't know this be good like you 😂
As I am open, curious and quite positive of "new" figures, the release of G9 was a slap in the face. There is no true improvement and joints are even worse.
Will copy my reply I made over on DA : There's the odd thing here or there that's better that G8 - but the improvements aren't big enough to make much of a difference vs Gen 8. And glad to provide the tutorials! Thanks for watching!
UVs are better, the topology is way better for morphs. that improves the projection for clothing a lot. but the difference is not as big as it could be indeed. but to be honest, there is not much to improve about a character model and bones. its more about the features around
Thanks Rauko! I don't use a lot of Genesis 9 figures yet -- the shift in figure scale between 8.x and 9 meant too much extra work for my current projects -- but tech always moves on, so it's good to have these fixes, should I need them. Be well!
I'm more or less 100% now .. got some older projects that still use 8 but anything new is now Gen 9. There's issues. Of course there are. But I've found enough fixes and tweaks to make it bearable!
Your tutorial series is too good. Thanks for all the effort and hard work you put in. May god always be with you.
Thank you Tanmay ... glad to put something out there that helps people!
I played around with G9 but my computer nearly gave up the ghost so I'm sticking to G8 and the old V4 etc. for now. Good to see some new content from you, it's been a while. Cheers!
G9 has just a couple of thousands more polys, thats nothing for a PC? and with higher subD, it actually saves alot of geometry because the eyes, mouth etc. are separated now
@@PrefoX Maybe it was just the assets I used then. My video card is only 12Gb I thought that was the issue.
Yeah, been busy IRL for a month or so - been away from home a few times. Gen 9 and the new versions of Iray are memory hogs so I can see how that can slow things down your end. But as @Prefox says, with some things being separate you can selectively lower some of the polygon counts.
Well..G9 really sucks and I don't recommend it, but, if you wanna use it, just turn subdivision down. It loads with SubD 3 and, depending on the machine, any figure will make the computer hog down... Each SubD divides each face by 4 (because it's 2-dimensional -- and this is not a typo; though it's a 3D software, the mesh is 2D like its textures --, and if you divide a square 2x2, you get four squares). So, G9 loads with 6439936 faces while the regular G8F loaded 261888, and that's what may be dragging your computer down... But you can turn it down to SubD 1, 2, or whatever you like it (G8.1 though, loads with SubD 3, and, if you have been using it and not turning SubD down, I don't know what it can be... Probably the textures or other wearables you may have put on it, and are too subdivided/not optimized... Optimize 'em, and it may work). As for the number of polygons, of course, there are limits, but it doesn't necessarily make a figure better than another; it's the quality of the mesh (and G9 mesh sucks). For instance, do you know which of the Victorias has more polygons? Victoria 4, which has 66830 faces; it just wasn't subdivided. And among the Genesis figures? Genesis 2 (G2F has 21098faces, closer to G9, which has 25156 faces, than to G8F, which has 16368 faces -- though G2F, in its case, unlike G9, has a nice mesh). So G9 higher number of polygons was more of a marketing stunt than a real necessity because G8 (and G8.1, and G3 -- which are almost the same --, and, IMNSHO, G2 and even G1) are better figures.
You have broken assets. 80% of daz "artists" are too stupid to make assets. MSO has lot of broken assets, P3D, ... some more some less.
Don't be to hard on users for there is no propper documentry. It would be helpful, if you explained, what's broken more detailed.
So very good to see you back Rauko! This is one of the reasons I don't use 9 because of all of the posing distortions and joint issues. I am really hoping Daz releases a 9 update or even yet a new version...ie: 9.1 or 10. For now I continue to use 8 and 8.1 ......
Ahh .. I've just been busy IRL the last month or so .. been away from home quite a bit. It seems like a lot of people still have issues with Gen 9 but I'm surprised at how many exactly. I've generally moved over to it 100% now - a couple of older projects still use Gen 8 - but all (nearly?) new stuff is Gen 9 for me. I've found a lot of fixes for most of my gripes so it's a no biggie now for me. I don't think we'll get Gen 10 until Daz 5 .. so look into your tea-leaves as to when that will be .. as for a 9.1 .. I'm not sure .. It's been over 2 years now since Gen 9 released and with all the issues with it and a lot of people not transferring you'd have thought they'd have released something by now to encourage more to move over .. I guess it might depend on where Daz 5 is internally. If it's still a couple of years off - we might get one as a stop-gap. But if it's closer, probably not.
Thanks, good to have you back to making videos! I haven't switched yet since I have loads of G8 content but I keep wondering if I should start migrating over; it would just be nice if they would ship something that didn't make you have to hunt and peck through hidden morphs to fix, for once.
its not part of Genesis9, that is a problem of Raukos library :D
@@PrefoX How so? In what way?
Been busy of late with real life. Been away from home a few times. Once you know the tweaks and fixes then Gen 9 is almost bearable. They do provide better looking images - certainly the Daz Originals who can get the most out of the models - but them annoyances are .. annoying. Not sure when Gen 10 will come - maybe with Daz 5 - so it could be anywhere from next month to 5 years down the line before we get a new Gen so you could have plenty of time still to migrate!
@@RaukoDaz3D Thanks for the reply; yeah I'll prolly wait till I have a more powerful rendering computer than I do now to make the switch, then. "Almost bearable...if and only if you can render in high detail" is prolly not worth it to me. I'm used to G8's foibles and it does fine for me for now I suppose. Glad you're back!
Finally! I can fix all those weird ggnarly finger joints!
Ohhh .. I never tested them! :P
This is not how you fix it. You uninstall broken assets that cause this crap.
Tnx for fix, are you planning a video/tutorial about Fila Toon (this new shader)? From what I see and read, it's an interesting option for giving older assets a second life and faster renders. Knowing your previous tutorials, I think few would do (explain) it better.
I'll let you into a little secret : I've not looked at it yet. Toon stuff has never been my thing so I've not had much interest in it. I WILL have a look at some point but it's not at the top of my list.
thank you, I have tow questions if u don't mind, what are u using for the background it look cool, second; is there a way or a script to unlock G9 bones like the one for G8?
You're welcome .. The background is from the BOSS Lighting system over on the Daz store (tinyurl.com/yk9hrkwz) Hhhmm .. Unlock bones? I'm not sure I know that is or know of a script .. what does the script do?
I fixed genesis 9 by not supporting an inferior product
That's one way to do it! Don't worry - they'll fix everything with Gen 10 .. honest!
It has been really annoying that so many clothes hair etc that look great are made for genesis 9 only
Yeah, to be fair - it shouldn't take much to include a Gen 8 version too - some PAs do and well done to them .. .. although I think there's a script out that allows that to be back-fitted .. (I'll try and track it down) ..
@RaukoDaz3D thank you Rauko your channel has been a great help over the years
the people don't buy a lot of G8 stuff anymore, so if that would change... most people buy G9 and I guess its the people who are not using forums or are on youtube
@@PrefoX If what you are saying were true why is it that so many Genesis 8 products are still being released across multiple websites every week i personally buy Daz products almost weekly and very rarely touch anything Genesis 9 related yet I have yet to run out of new things to buy
@@colmduggan8230 well DAZ3D has 80% of the sales, if not more. I don't see G9 products as often on deviantart etc, but the sales talk for themself. I sell G8 and G9 stuff and my colleges say the same. its sad but true. I would prefer to make just G8 stuff too don't get me wrong :D but the people bought enough G8 stuff I guess. G9 has a lot of improvements like way better UVs and mostly better topology, the separated body parts etc. but I don't know why they forgot to implement some features for G8,thats sad. yet, we, the PAs, make products for the customers. if they don't want G8, we stop doing them. I even tried one product and just released it for G8 and it didnt went well, G9 sells way better sadly.
Useful to know, if and when I ever use G9. Not a fan of G9 at all.
It has some plus points but the general consensus is people keep clear of it. I'm usually ok with it but I do make a few changes with a lot of the models before I use them
I don't use G9. I rarely use G8. It is more about my computer and money than anything else. It is good to know that the problems can be fixed. Older models, like V4 and M4, you needed to buy a separate fix for them. So,at least DAZ has placed the ability to fix the issue in the model already.
It would be really helpful if these things didn't need fixing in the first place! :)
@RaukoDaz3D True, but at least they can be fixed without any other source.
g9 seems somewhat unready...
That's a polite way of saying it .. :)
This was very helpful. The hip/thigh joint has been a terrible problem for me with terrible skin folding at the joint in G8 and I noticed that G9 isn't as bad, but still not perfect. Taking your suggestion for G8, I noticed that while the "thigh" property isn't available, I can reduce the abnormal skin folding that occurs in G8 somewhat with the "hip pants" and "hip nude" properties.
I've never really had much of a problem with G8 but it doesn't surprise me that there's something similar in there .. just managing to track down what fixes things.
That's really helpful, it was driving me nuts.
Glad to have been some help with this solution!
I don't use G9 at the moment but it was interesting to see the fix. Great to see you are still around!!! Don't be a stranger!! Cheers
Ha! I've been really busy of late .. not been home as often as I'd like to be .. but I'm still here even if I'm a little slower that usual!
thanks, helpful and well produced video
You're welcome - thanks for watching and glad to help!
I've been using DAZ since 2019. Gen 8 is by far the best figure. Gen 9 I find is very hard to use, looks terrible and is expensive when prior clothes don't work because they changed the bone structure. I own a few Gen 9 figures now but have yet to make anything decent with them. with nearly 4,000 generated scenes I recommend Gen 8 or 8.1.
Nothing much to disagree with what you've said there. There are some good things to Gen 9 but even though I use Gen 9 models 95% of the time now - I'll tend to agree that Gen 8 was / is superior.

Hey Rauko, those JCMs are not part of Genesis 9, JCMs are now called CBS, so DAZ isn't calling them JCMs and PAs are not allowed too actually. so probably one PA created them and now they are part of all of your characters. you could check who created those JCMs. but its not a problem DAZ nor PAs created (or maybe just one)
@@PrefoX Joint deformations have been a part of Gen 9 since day 1 of launch - it's one of the reasons why many have chosen not to migrate. For instance, the Shin / Thigh bend at the knee issue is a CBS slider that causes the problem so that one at least is Daz Gen 9 specific. But as I say at the beginning of the vid, whatever their source - Daz or PAs - they are a thing and if I can at least get people looking in the right places to fix them then job done!
@@RaukoDaz3D THOSE deformations are not part of G9, those JCMs are not part of G9 or any DAZ3D character, maybe from a different source!? did you check who created those JCMs? Joint Corrective Morphs are not a thing for G9 anymore. I am a PA, I did check my clean folder which contains only G8 and G9 and the JCMS you talked about are NOT part of the official products, 100%. I just wanted to make clear and you talk alot about those JCMs : ) just delete them and you are fine. its possible that the CBS slider which causes problems, has been modified by a different product too. the whole file system is not great in DAZ and you can get so many problems so easily. I just wanted to help sorry.
@@PrefoX Yeah, no worries - as I say, they come from somewhere and whatever their source - a lot of people are affected by them. It doesn't matter where they come from ultimately, they are there and so if we can collectively find the fixes for them for people then that's all good!
Thank you. That was a life saver🙏
Glad to help out!
Thanks for the tutorial! When I did the same thing eyes are not following the camera when I move sides but they're following the camera when I moved up and down. Have any advice by any chance?
Hhmm .. that's a strange one. Check that the slider for the eyes (up / down) isn't locked in place .. if they move side to side then they should move up and down
21:40 While the lighting around her looks good, the sunlight on the floor and chair look way too bright.
Of course - you adjust to suit your needs .. change the brightness, change the angle the sun enters the room or, in worse case scenarios if it darkens the rest of your image : lower the brightness and then spot render the area of the floor that's too bright and combine in a paint package
Hey, can i ask? Did you customize original character face by combining head morphs with other characters? Or through some additional mods, like 200+ face sliders? I also couldn’t find the same coloring for the eyes makeup as in your render, is this some kind of Viking makeup pack? The original model of the girl is similar to yours, but it feels like her face mesh itself has been changed.
Hey there - no, she should be the original model - I rarely tweak the models I use in videos .. The make up comes from .. I think (without loading the scene) the make up comes from here : www.daz3d.com/untidy-make-up-for-genesis-8-female
The trick with the panes is amazing! The ceiling emmission awesome too! I've learnt something today, thanks to you! Thank!
Hey you're welcome - glad to help out!
A bit of advice, if you want the light to point at a point on the model. Select the light and then right click on the part of the model you want the light to point at and select point at. The light will then point to the part. Then go into the light and make your minor adjustments to get it exactly where you want it. This is the easiest way I have found to get the light to where I want it with little work.
A good little tip for people if they don't want to do it the long way ..
Great tutorial for a total beginner just getting started.
Glad to help out- if you have any questions - just give me a shout!
@@RaukoDaz3D well hey, appreciate it! Your renders are great - especially love the ones that are made to look like the model has natural light splashing on them through windows and stuff that I've seen on your DeviantArt
I sometimes add the texture I use to be lumine slider to cut down on the brightness of the emissive lights coming from an object in the render. It helps since I don't know much about postwork. It doesn't affect the light being made just how it appears in the render.
This is much easier than the older method of pointing the eyes at the camera. The older method is to select the eye and right click the camera and select point at in the menu. You would have to do it for each eye. There is a way to select more than one item in the scene tab. If you hold down Control and click on another object it should select the new item and keep the other one selected as well. I learned it when I was making a lot of groups for a scene I was making. It should work for selecting both of the eyes.
I have to thank you a lot for the help. I had a hard time understanding how the cameras worked in DAZ. I didn't use them for years when I used DAZ. These videos really helped a lot. IRay seems to work best with using a camera.
Glad I've been able to help you out somewhat!
@RaukoDaz3D I am glad you take the time to explain how things work. I have had other users that talked down to me. It is great to see someone who shows the steps and admits if they don't know something.
My biggest piece of advice, always use a camera. It makes things easier. Once I started using a camera, I wished I had a long time ago. Set up a camera where you want to render an use perspective view to make adjustments to the scene.
That's the way to do it! So you used to render through the Perspective view?
I always turn the headlamp on the camera off. The render settings don't turn off the headlamp all the time. If you use a HDRI or emissive lights, the headlamp on the camera can turn on. It happens because it doesn't register a light in the scene. This doesn't happen if you are using the different types of lights. But it can and does a lot when you just use HDRI and emissive lights to light up the scene. So,it is best to go into the camera and turn the headlamp to off.
Yeah, the headlamp is an evil invention and should be banished from Daz altogether! 😀
Could you tell me wich hair U used here pls? Thanks!
Sorry for the delay in replying - I've been back and forth away from home with work .. The hair Delphi Hair - you can find a link up top in the description
Really useful tips. Thanks a lot!
i like the blue backround you are using on this. can you tell what you used, is it a defomred plane? if yes how you create those colour transitions
Sorry for the delay in replying - if been busy away from home for a while .. The Blue background will be from the Boss Lighting System over on the Daz store (tinyurl.com/yk9hrkwz)
