Greetings, and welcome to Valdi's Old Snowmobile Information Factory...
The hobby is growing, with younger people entering the hobby. For all of you, I hope these videos educate and advance your knowledge and expertise.
The goal here is to promote and preserve the rich heritage and evolution of snowmobiling. Our purpose is to preserve and restore snowmobiles and help promote wider acquaintances, and closer relationships, and aid hobbyists in their preservation, restoration, and demonstration efforts.
This RUclips channel builds on previous work. BRAAAP films produced a series of six DVD productions covering the hobby. (see link) As host of the series, I enjoyed highlighting all the different brands, colors, sounds, and sights associated with antique, vintage, and classic-class snowmobiles. See link below that showcases the six volume DVD series

DISASTER: pole barn roof collapse
Просмотров 3,5 тыс.Год назад
This morning, a heavy snow load took down much of the roof in my 50" X 100" barn. I've seen lots of snow on that roof over the past 16 years, but this winter broke its back. No one hurt, but my life's passions are represented by the toys in that barn A great many of the snowmobiles are rare or prototypes developed in pre-production. Also, examples of Western Canadian-built machines that I am es...

In 1993, Arctic Cat knew that competitors would offer three or four-cylinder muscle sleds. They offered either 750 or 800cc engines. Not to be complacent, Arctic Cat management wanted to make a statement. Their new Thundercat would be a 900cc triple cylinder, triple piped monster! Theirs would be the largest displacement player in the lake racing wars. President Chris Twomey announced, "Lead, f...

NOTE: I miss-spoke in this video. Referring to the 1971 Arctic Cat inline 4 cylinder 2-stoke machine, I should have noted KING KAT as the model name, with its 789 cc Kawasaki engine. In 1992, Yamaha set a tone in sled technology and launched the "Muscle Sled" era... Their new Vmax-4 was the most unique, most powerful, and largest displacement engine in a production trail sled. Indeed, the dashboard logo is similar to that used by the football ...

Very good video!!!
I hope the channel comes back this winter! This is seriously some of the best vintage sled content out there! So many people just show them, but they don’t tell the good details.
The gauge package Dash on that sled is identical to a 2001 MXZ 800x that I rip for many years in red beautiful gauge package, mirror image
I was grass dragging in '75. I was riding a Rupp lightweight homebuilt racer w/ a 650 Blizzard engine, it was pretty quick. I won every race that day until I raced against a 650 Chaparral factory racer. Anyways, I got a great launch and was ahead about halfway on the run. Then that Chaparral came by me so fast, with its skiis floating about 6" off the ground, it almost sucked the paint off my sled. I'll never forget that race, damn those Chaps were fast!
Looks alot like a rebadged ski-doo.
I have a 1993 750 storm and that my friend is a beautiful snowmobile
.trail cat un moteur 4 temps KOLEUR pas rapide 24 h p 30 milles a heur sur la neige dure conduit un jour come concessionnaire ARCTIC CAT DE 1968 A 2000 OK
This machine and all the rest you see in his video is up for auction. Online. At Auction Masters I will copy and post the link.
Please open the hood
Should give us the production numbers, it's all original but I think it was special order from the cat factory. Cat also said at the time they would make available any sled designed for racing to the general public as long as it could be reproduced on the assembly line
The thing is that every single older sled needs a new windshields and seat covering...still original in my book
I doubt that there is another person in the world that knows the complete history of every make and model like this man, Valdi..
King Cat 800 the King Cat
Why don’t you show the motor
Why didn’t you show the motor ?
Where is this museum?
Sweet sled, Sure miss the good ol' days.
le moteur Sachs pas fiable 744 cc les moto neige Alouette on u se moteur pas bons pas rapide une grosse vache
Who cares what you think. I think the 774 was a good engine. Do You have any I do have a 440 twin . 340 twin 650 twin and triple
Is it a hirth honker ?
No fuje 650 triple free air
That engine must sound interesting
Mint!! MAGA 2024!!!
yes. 71, not sure why he kept saying 72, or why he stuttered so much.
The 634 cc Hirth, the last sled you talked about actually is a 1970. I was a Chaparral dealer at the time. 1970 was a huge improvement over the 1969. 1970 included polyurethane track, aluminum tunnel, enclosed hood, thick soft seat, raised seat with storage under seat. In 1971 Chaparral made them lower and sleeker, nice sleds. 1969 models had issues. Rubber track, steel body, recoils all broke on third pull on all kohlers. Chaparral was purchased by Armco steel, then when the recession hit and gas shortages on the west coast caused a loss, at that point Armco discontinued production. The last couple years Chaparral tried too many new things and had too many warranty issues. About 1973 or 1974 was last year of production I believe.
What brand engine did it have ?
wonder how much it sold for
I think it's pretty cool that all these Big Block snowmobiles from the early days are still cackling to life.
Answer your phone.
Tell us more about this most unusual engine.
My grandfather had two of those! 1 had 400mi the other 600mi… sold both for $300… unbelievable right? These machines were absolutely cherry.
That is not a TX-L ☹️
Dang brother. You have some of my favorite sleds there. I owned a 634 Puma. Just like the one you have in the background. I drag raced that one and a 440Z. We won everything
The most popular Lynx in my area was the Lynx with the 292 Kawasaki engine, they were light and pretty fast.
Still have two of them. Love those old KT-150B 292 motors. The Tilitsons have to be tuned right with the right pop off lbs pressure springs to run right off the crankcase vacuum for the diaphrams to work right. Took me and my brother almost 20 years to figure it out between '84 and 2003.
I had a 634 Puma. Raced it for a while. Won a bunch of race’s. Also had a 440Z. Won everything on that sled.
Ohhh my goodness. That’s beautiful. We used to call them Turf Tigers. They won a bunch of drag raced.
I see it doesn’t have a crossover shaft. They must’ve made those in later models.
The Turf Tiger was a grass drag sled. Solid rubber track that ran some kind of alcohol. Carlson Discount Sports from Eau Claire Wi let us race one for a summer. Skis barely touched the ground 1/8 mile.
@@JohnCinko 100% John. They are built to go straight. I had to race against a few of them.
I remember when they came out, everyone was talking about them, they were almost mythical. A couple guys bought some in my area, later that winter we had a radar run, and both ran their v4s. I was expecting them to take the show, many 650 polaris indys beat them , wild cat 700s my old 650 wild cat did even did better, the v4s were running with the mach1 617s. They weren't huge performers out of the box.
Ooof the history and hard work sad, have been enjoying your videos, sad to see all your irreplacable hard work disrespected by mother nature in this way. Hope to see the vintage sled community rally and help you get things going again. You had an absolutely beautiful collection😢
It was all Sno Twisters where I lived .
Those Fuji's were grenades.,atleast in 71.
Currently own a '95 storm. Bought it with all original parts. Only change i made was plastic skis. She may need a overhaul this fall to keep her in good shape. But wouldn't trade it for a newer model!
Thank you sir 👍
Great looking machine. Just wondering what is the Primary clutch?
I have the 92 and it's number 652 in the production run
Why not start it so we can hear it run
Those golden vintage sleds (when properly restored) had a rumble that was exciting. Hearing this sled brings back memories for me of when my Dad would start-up our '71 Skidoo Olympique on a cold, wintery Canadian night. My Mom would say "Hey, get your snowmobile-suit on...Dad's going-out for a ride..." Such beautiful memories, thank you Vladi for the show.
had an old snow Prince snowmobile single cylinder
Nice sled. 72' by the way. Had several old Ski-doo's, best days as a kid.
71 by the way. I owned a 71. In 72, the hood shape was different and the paint scheme was different.
@@danjdavid I don't know what the hell I was thinking when I said a 72'. I feel really stupid for saying that. My apologies. Thank you.
Great you’re posting again. Thanks.
Great point Valdi. The absolutely insane full mod 1970 760 Panther that my father built for a customer was later sold to two gentlemen who said they were racers out west. We sold a 1971 King Kat 793 to another guy and on testing day the full Mod 760 saw how much better the 793 KK was it wasn’t very long before The Monster was sold during the 1971 season. Shortly after our former big time racer customer returned and bought a cute 303 Wankle Lynx for putting through the woods. His racing days were over. lol.
