We sold them ,and I worked on them and raced a 634 , 438 , and the 340 Grand Prix . And took a 634 and put on a 70 Zephyr for cross country racing. Ran oval , drag , and cc. When Moto Ski was bought out by Ski Doo we quit selling them but fixed and repaired sleds till we were out of parts . And I also raced for a uncle that sold Ski Doo and Boa Ski . I had the best world for a teenager at the time . Now 67 and miss those days .
I have a 1977 john deere 340 cyclone. I found out john deere was the winning sled for about 5 years which does not surprise me annd my sled came from thst era. I just found out that If you bought one of their machines and wanted to race the company had its own race team and pit crew for any customer who wanted to race! So if you had one you were sponsered and on the team! That is confidence in a product we dont seem to see anymore.
Good video,... now you better get out of that backyard,... so those blackbird's can have it back,... they sure sound mad,... nice Moto-ski though,... I think our neighbor Jack had one that was called a Zephr,... big single cylinder (Hirth),... HD tillitson and 24 hp,... it was pretty close to our "71" 340 tnt Ski-Doo.........
Super cool hood and front lights . A total snow classic who's manufacturer had television adds showing their machines being ridden in dried up , rocky river beds at high speed taking a brutal pounding and not breaking. That commercial really stuck in my mind . Whenever i hear moto-ski that image pops back up !
Absolutely beautiful machine! In the mid 70s, Dan Wark moved his family to my hometown in Gladwin Michigan and started the Wark Sport and Machine Shop next door to us on the Tittabawasee River in the White Star/ Wooden Shoe Village area. They sold and serviced Moto-Ski machines. Great snowmobiles and very fast. R.I.P. Dan and Rosie, gone but not forgotten. 📕
That was sincerely incredible to listen to, I find myself getting more and more fascinated with the topic of the old machines each day. Since you said you lived in Minnesota have you by chance heard of the Ridge Runner Twin tracked snowmobile?
Does anyone remember the Dauphine snowmobile my dad had bought 3 for our family to ride, I still remember the 634 Hirth SS model Dauphin had beautiful purple and white machine !
Not sure but I think JLO had a 760cc in 70 maybe 71. Edit: hated the 634 cause coils were under engine and the recoil rollers and cage always problematic.
I was going to ask about HP. Did any mfr manage to get more ponys out of it? When I was a kid someone let me try a 634 Rupp across the field. I thought it was a rocket but I was riding a 12/3 Oly at the time.
I doubt that there is another person in the world that knows the complete history of every make and model like this man, Valdi..

The thing is that every single older sled needs a new windshields and seat covering...still original in my book

SKI-DOO 775cc TNT
1969/1970, Moto-Ski had a SM760 model. They were very fast.

Jello motors got hot and the base seal popped out.
For 634cc it was a dog. 36 hp
